"This is a new restaurant and so worth coming here. We tried the fried dumplings as an appetizer and they were delicious. Hubby had chili beef and I had tangerine beef. Hubby's was a tad spicy. Mine was also spicy but the tangerine sauce was sweet and countered the spice. So so so good. Both dishes had enough that we took some home. There were not a lot of customers inside (too bad cuz I like to look at the other dishes) but lots of take outs. Our server, Chen, was professional and friendly and attentive (but not overly). The music was not blasting so we ate in relative peace. I love this place. We will definitely be back."
"My brother and I have birthdays within a week of each other, so we always do a joint birthday outing with the fam. This year, we wanted something new to all of us so we chose Spicy Banda. Yes I said Spicy Banda. It was once named Spicy Panda until one of the major chains asked them to change their name for whatever reason. They really should leave these locally owned, small business owners alone, but i digress. This spot is located in East Pearland in an up and coming area with lots of new houses, shops and eateries. It anchors a shopping strip with plenty of parking. We came on a Sunday and it was fairly quiet. We did call ahead for our large party and they had a table ready for us when we arrived. A nice lady took really great care of us from start to finish and customer service was great all around. The owner/chef came and checked on us frequently and even ran over to be in our family pics. Spicy Banda specializes in fusion Szechuan cuisine and they do it really well. Our family loves this type of food and we especially love ordering a bunch of things and eating it family style. They definitely don't skimp on portions here and you get your money's worth of food, plus leave with a full belly and leftovers. We usually all order and entrée and pass our food around. Our table came equipped with a lazy Susan which made sharing so much easier. I'll just list what we got with a rating to make it easier. We called ahead to order a Peking Duck which I believe no one at are table other than myself has had. I'm used to getting it in Chinatown, but they do a pretty solid one here. Not as good as some of my favorite spots, but good. It came with pancakes which are like crepes and served with the typical sides of hoisin sauce, green onions and cucumbers. They take the carcass and then make a delicious duck soup that is also served with it. Our crowd now are Peking duck lovers. We also ordered 3 Flavor Pepper Chicken (5/5), Biang Biang Noodles (3/5), Chicken Fried Curry Rice (4/5), Cumin Lamb (4/5), and Crispy Fish in Thai Chili Sauce (5/5). The chicken and fish were the stars of the show and will be a order again item. Everything else was tasty as well though. We were all impressed with the food and very full and content after our meal. Overall, this was a great pick to celebrate our birthdays. Pearland has been surprising me with some of these new locally owned and operated Szechuan spots popping up. Spicy Banda will definitely be going into my regular rotation of food spots!"
"This was my first time , but not my last time. The food was so delicious, that I ate it without taking a picture first. The person that our order was polite, and the food was packed well to go. It's a small cute plate to eat. Definitely gotta give it a try."
"Pepper twins has been my go too off Kirby since Qin dynasty changed owners and fell off. Are used to go to Qin dynasty for about 20 years, but they really have dropped off in quality and cleanliness. So me and my girlfriend are very happy that we found pepper twins because they take quality and cleanliness pretty serious for the most part.I will admit today the table and the floors were very sticky. So Pepper twins get to it and clean those messy tables and dirty floors.Food: the lunch specials here are absolutely amazing. So far I've gotten the Mongolian beef and it has been top-notch. Actually today I tried the general sales chicken and that was equally as good. My girlfriend tried the Kung pow chicken, and the shrimp Kung pow as she shared both dishes with me. I will agree. Both of those are extremely good as well. The hot and sour soup is really good too. All dishes come served with White rice. The customer service top-notch as well. The food comes out in a timely manner, and all the waiters and waitresses here are very friendly. Keep it up guys and gals will continue to come here for lunch as far as I can tell because we really like this place."
"I think I found my go to Chinese place. I haven't found a Chinese place in the area that I really like enough to order multiple times, but I ordered take out recently and I will order again. The hot and sour soup and general tso's chicken both had a nice kick to it and were flavorful. Everything tasted freshly made. I liked the white rice. It was a medium grain rice vs the regular Chinese restaurant rice that is dry and falls apart. It isn't too expensive, but when I think of Chinese food, I think of $10 or so (pre-inflation brain). It is more like $13-$14 a dish on average."
"Why 4 stars? Because this was one of the better Chinese spots in the area that we've tried. --- --- --- We moved to the area about a year and a half ago and have yet to find a Chinese restaurant as good as the one we used to visit frequently when we lived in Tampa. While one visit here definitely did not make us forget about the Tampa spot, I definitely think Chef Chan's has the potential to become our go-to for Chinese. My wife was nearby, so I placed a pickup order that she brought home. Despite that, our beef lo mein, pork fried rice and meat stuffed fried wonton curry were all enjoyable, but probably a step or so down from the aforementioned mecca. There are tons of appealing menu items that I want to try here and we will definitely return in the future to make our way through the menu."
"Houston has some hidden gems for dining, and Duck N Bao simply adds to the hype. I've seen these guys a few times on social media and have bookmarked it on Yelp to try when I finally made my rounds in H-town. Well, my assessment is that this spot is worth the visit. The restaurant is small so you will be met with a line during dinner service. Arrive early if you have a bigger party and add yourself to the waitlist to save some time. This is what I ordered to taste test --* Crab Meat and Pork Soup Dumplings ($12.95)* half Peking Duck which includes 6 pancakes, duck hoisin sauce, cucumber slices and scallion slices ($32.00)The soup dumplings were amazing. I read that the soup dumplings are handmade in house and I could tell because of its intricacies -- every bite was perfect. And, the ginger dipping sauce sealed the deal for me. Moving over to the Peking Duck, it was surprisingly very well seasoned. I'm from the Bay Area in California so I know what type of potential that particular traditional Chinese dish has. The chefs at Duck N Bao are certainly creating a name for the restaurant and I love it. Supporting small businesses is my motive but it gets even better when the product or service is worth bragging about. My server Carolina was sweet but ran around the restaurant with a sense of urgency as it was busy, and I appreciate that type of hustle. All in all, the experience was worth satisfying my curiosity. I will definitely return when I'm in the area again."
"Chuan. Chuan. Chuan. See? I know how to Say Chuan.Anyway, house everything going with you?Yet another excellent Szechuan restaurant in HTX, with really yum spicy diced chicken AKA Chongqing chicken - and good Mapo Tofu and lots of other nommy dishes that you will enjoy. The Eggplant is pretty tasty as well, but heavy. There is a wealth of Sichuan food in Houston's Chinatown which will totally spoil you. Come over here and give it a try for yourself. Bite Of Spice is my number one, but this place is definitely in the top 5 or so.SH is a little bit more authentic perhaps than the most notorious and popular - Mala Sichuan - and you can tell because the only people in here are normally Chinese, whereas over at Mala you have all sorts of international clientele. It's also much less popular than Mala, so it definitely needs your support - and once you taste the stuff here you'll be glad to give it to them. And once you taste my stuff, you'll be glad I gave it to you."

Tried the food via GrubHub and it was excellent!! I ordered the wontons in red chile oil, the orange chicken (which came with rice) and the stir fry string beans (which also came with rice). The food arrived super hot and tasted fresh and delicious. I look forward to eating in house!!

3.5 edging up to 4. Stopped in with the family for dinner. Things were a little dirty on the table and around the restaurant. Nothing major, but enough to notice. They advertises as being a Szechuan restaurant, but when I asked if I could get some Szechuan pepper oil on the side. I was told they do not have that and they could bring me some whole peppercorns. Cheese Crab Puffs: 5 count for $5.60, very bellow average Crab puffs. The worst thing about the meal. I love Crab Puffs, best avoid these, not very big and not much flavor.Dan Dan Noodles: Not bad, but not very good. They had little to no flavor and not spicy at all. Pork Dumplings: Very good. nicely cooked, large dumplings. Would recommend.Orange Chicken: Large chunks of moist chicken, the batter was not too thick. Nicely cooked and the Orange flavor was not overpowering. The broccoli was not cooked or so lightly cooked I could not tell, however I would recommend.House Fried Rice: large portion. With a good balance of proteins and rice. The flavor was fine. All in all it was not a bad plate, but not the best ever. Baby Bok Choy in Garlic Sauce: Good portion of nicely cooked vegetables. If you are looking for a vegetable side I would recommend this.Crispy Fish in Thai Chili Sauce: I will start by saying we got the sauce on the side I think that is the way to go. The dish was a good portion of nicely fried fish. The sauce was very very good, it reminded me of Tomyum soup. Lots of lemongrass and other Thai flavors. I ended up dipping my fish into the sauce and preferred that to having it cover the fish. I will say that the sauce has a very strong flavor and some people my not like it, however I enjoyed it. All in all the experience was a positive one and if I lived closer this would probably be my go to take out Chinese food. Spicy Panda is a solid restaurant, but far from the best I have had. I would recommend and return.

First and foremost, the lady taking my order was nice over the phone.Whether or not this is considered a hole-in-the-wall is definitely up for debate, considering it's located in a busy outlet that caters to the South Asian community. When I got there at 9pm on a Sunday, it was PACKED. Luckily there's reserved parking for 888 Beijing, so I pulled up right to the front of the restaurant. It's a to-go only kind of situation, offering no dine-in at the moment. My order took 20 minutes to be made, which was in the timeframe of 20-25 minutes she gave me. I strolled in and strolled out in less than 2 minutes. There's a small grocery store right next door, so I hopped over and grabbed a mango juice that I figured would go well with some Chinese food. Correct. Best pairing since Hot Cheetos and your gastroenterologist. I went with the fan favorite recommendations of the Szechuan wontons, shrimp lo mein, and egg drop soup. My standard order for Chinese food minus the wontons. And dude! My man! My gal, all my hungry shawties. Listen, this is the place for some good Chinese food. Albeit a bit Americanized, you're a liar if you said Americanized Chinese food doesn't hit the spot from time to time.Egg drop soup: flavorful, no salt or pepper needed. Hit ya right in the heart and warms you all up. All it was missing was those little crunchy wontons on top and that would've been heaven on earth. Shrimp lo mein: shrimp because I'm not really a beef or chicken person lo mein person, sue me. The noodles were a bit smaller than the preferred phat and thick noodles I enjoy, but they had the right texture and the flavor was there! Hey I'm happy they don't use spaghetti noodles. Had that once somewhere else and *shutters*Szechuan wontons: this was the surprising contender. Surprising because I didn't expect much from this place for some of its more Americanized cuisine, and this sent me in a doozy. Yummy yummy. Straight savory umami, the flavors is like when a really hot person knows they're hot shit but doesn't flaunt it. It's subtle enough, but not too subtle that you can deny it's there. My favorite and I'll be back for these alone if they're gonna be as tasty as they were the first time! All in all. I recommend this place for some yum yum in your tum.

One of the best Chinese restaurants in town. Their vegetarian options are quite a few but I have my favorites and don't mind eating the same food over and over again, it is that tasty. Service is prompt and friendly. We got the chou mein, the dry- fried beans, and vegetable spring roll. The beans comes with rice. All hot and yummy. The beans is one of their specialty items. We requested for the chou mein with no egg, or, egg on the side. They won't do the egg on the side but they did take it off. With prices on the higher range, I did not see many customers on a Friday evening, so that way its good even for a date night.

We went to this place before going to a friends house. We ordered ahead for pickup. Just an FYI, there is a $3.00 charge to use cards VS using cash. We were ok with that. The food was ready when we got there 12 minutes later, the inside was very clean. The woman at the register was very polite. We ordered 2 general tso chicken, 1 orange chicken and a Mongolian beef, each entry comes with a carb, so we got 2 white rices and 1 low mein, and we also got a big order of chicken fried rice. The total was about $77, and it fed 6 adults with leftovers. The food wasn't too greasy at all, I really enjoyed it. We were told this is our friends "go-to" for Chinese food. It was pretty darn good! We recommend you try it if you don't feel like cooking!

This might be the best Chinese food outside of Chinatown in Houston. The egg drop soup with corn is worth the drive alone.Real flavor. Great service. Chef Chan has been there every time I have gone, no matter the time. I highly reccomend.
Visit Restaurant Page"Checked out this place on a Friday right when they opened. Wasn't too crowded and service was extremely kind and quick. We had a baby with us, and they were super sweet to her and accommodating . We ordered the soup dumplings, the chili oil dumplings, egg plant in garlic sauce and Hunan beef.Soup Dumplings, Chili Oil Dumplings and Egg Plant were 5/5. I wasn't a fan of the hunan beef and really just picked at the broccoli. Definitely check it out, pricing was good and service was great. Not too loud and nice for a lunch date!"
"An updated review since a year ago. They have changed to buffet style, around $31.34 per person with tax, and it includes the broth options (pork broth, spicy broth, or combo). It is such a better deal than before and it is better than any other hot pot places in town. All you can eat style with a variety of options for meat and vegetables, skewers and plated dishes (fatty beef, fatty lamb, noodles, etc.). It also comes with free appetizers (chicken feet, sesame red balls, roasted peanuts, edamames, etc), and the sauce bar. MOST IMPORTANTLY, there is also a cotton candy machine in case you want to make some cotton candy as dessert, and they also have vanilla and chocolate Blue Bell ice cream as part of the buffet (it is in the freezer on the far right, don't miss it). Best hot pot place and best deal in Chinatown!"
"The last few years have seen an explosion of Chinese restaurants popping up all throughout the loop and most of them specialize in Sichuan cuisine. Of all the hot spots (#1), I find that Mama's Kitchen has been the most consistent and at times, one of the better options in this part of town. There are only a handful of parking spots out front and the plaza that it's located in is way smaller than it looks. That also means the interior is on the smaller side, but it's sufficient enough to handle big groups and intimate booths. It's a clean dining room and can probably fit up to 50 folks at once. It's rarely busy here, so I wouldn't worry too much about getting a table pending party size. I wish the adjacent lot was connected, which would alleviate some of the access issues from Richmond Ave.Interior and parking logistics aside, the food is the true highlight. Their variety is not too dissimilar from what's offered at the competing establishments around, but their execution and service is better overall. Their braised soft bacon (梅菜扣肉) is so fatty that it melts in the mouth, best enjoyed with rice. The salted egg yolk corn (金沙玉米) is simple compared to the rest of their dishes, but well done enough to where I'd order it over and over. Their broiled fish in hot oil (水煮魚) is soft and very authentic. One of the best things they serve is the braised red pork (紅燒肉) which is as homey and as savory / sweet as one would want. For non-spicy eaters, beware of the dishes that have a pepper listed next to it.As noted, the service is what sets them apart in my eyes from the rest. I realize that the catered audience is mainly non-Chinese, but that hasn't compromised the authenticity of the dishes in the least bit.__________(#1) Just all me Pun P."
"We decided to try this place since we were nearby at the outlet mall and didn't want to drive back south to the Bellaire area before heading back home to DFW. Looking for Asian food, we saw that they had Peking duck and soup dumplings on the menu so we were sold. Walking in, the interior is nice at first glance with lots of wooden beam accents, but looking at it closely, there were torn upholstery at multiple booths. Our party of 7 were seated right away since it was early dinner time. The young lady that was our server was friendly and offered suggestions when I told her it was our first time. Overall, we enjoyed our meal because we were hungry but nothing stood out enough to consider a return visit. Here's a breakdown of the food we ordered: Hot oil wontons - more soy sauce tasting than chili oil which made it salty Scallion pancakes - crispy and tasty, missing a dipping sauce though Pork soup dumplings - the soup inside was light and lacked a depth of pork flavor. The skin was thin and too fragile that resulted in them breaking upon picking up Beef fried rice - decent and standard although a bit on the oily sideStir fried green beans - would have liked a stronger garlic flavor but overall was goodPork belly with buns - nicely braised and tender meat, we liked it better than the duck Whole Peking duck - my main reason for coming here and was the biggest disappointment. The duck was dry and bland like it was not made fresh that day. The soup that came with it was pretty good after adding some chili oil. At $58 for the whole duck, it was a big letdown."
"If you don't know Sze Chuan is the old method for Sichuan or 四川 in Chinese. Lao means old. So, the name of Lao Sze Chuan does more than just Sichuan cuisine.Ignore the slow service and mixture of odd pieces of furniture, the food is a little better than other Sichuanese restaurants in Houston. That's why I couldn't understand they hung the banner all written in Chinese... Something about Chicago. Read the English description on this Yelp page. When I walked in, I smelled chemical like new stain and paint. I almost walked out. After a while, the stink dissipated. Almost everything on the menu has a pepper icon, that means HOT like in Sichuan spicy hot. You wonder why this restaurant is so close to Mala Sichuan. The food here seems to be more authentic and the restaurant is bigger with a private room in the back. The duck oven is one major attraction in Metropole Center because the restaurant is right at the entrance. Seats and tables can be arranged, which means it's group friendly."
"Located in the Dun Huang Plaza in Chinatown, close to all the boba/ dessert places with plenty of parking in the open parking lot and the 2 garages. This place has been my favorite Sichuan style restaurant for years. Exactly how you would imagine a classic no BS mom and pop Chinese restaurant would be, traditional Chinese style interior, friendly but basic level service, complementary Chinese hot tea, and owners kids hanging out in the back. Now the food... somehow this place always hit the spot and reminds me of China. Unlike a lot of the Sichuan restaurants in Houston with fancy plates and fusion twist, this place taste like someone from Sichuan is in the back doing all the cooking for you. Couple of my "must order" each time: Hot and Sour rice noodle -- this is my favorite and my reason to be back at least once a month, no other restaurants in Houston can match the taste Lamb with cumin - the lamb is tender, great flavor with just right level of spicy if you like the cumin taste Stewed Chicken Shank - this is a cold dish, boiled chicken in spicy sauce and chili oil I would recommend this place to anyone that wants to try authentic Sichuan food!"
"Came here on a Sunday pretty early in the evening and it was very quiet. We sat outside to enjoy the cool weather- clearly no one has been outside in a minute. Dust and pollen for the season sprinkling the furniture. For being one of the few (only?) options for dim sum within the loop it was truly ok, but not necessarily one I'm running back to. Maybe a solid 3.5 for overall rating? We ordered quite a few things to share and were sufficiently filled with not a bad price tag at all.The beef curry puff was rarely memorable, and the sui mai too."
"We came by for lunch on a cold day wanting some hot food. Located in Montrose in a small shopping plaza. Parking is easily available. The interior of the restaurant is actually decently contemporary and clean comparing to other Chinese spots. Service was great and the food came pretty quickly. Squirrel fish 4.5/5. Best we've had in Houston. Sauce is solid. We forgot to ask what kind of fish they used but hope it wasn't tilapia.Peking Duck 3/5. Not the best, slightly chewy and just not as crisp and tasty as others that we've had in Houston. The crepes were nice and thin so that's a plus to be authentic but for $55, this duck was a miss for me.Kung Pao chicken 3.5/5 slightly not traditional with the zucchini but tasted alright. Just not what I thought would be my traditional Kung Pao chicken but a slightly more Americanized version. Crispy chicken 3.5/5. Missing some spice but still nicely fried. It's just missing the super Sichuan pepper element to the dish that gives the dish its signature flavor.Egg yolk shrimp/prawn 3.5/5. We were actually looking for a walnut shrimp on the menu which they didn't have, so we opted for this. The taste was fine but not very outstanding and slightly oily.Overall a pleasant surprise and a decent choice for the area. Not the best Sichuan spot but definitely above a few other spots in the loop."
"This location isn't as good as the other Tiger restaurants. This is really unfortunate because this is the most convenient location for me to visit so I was very much looking forward to eating here so it could be my go to place.I love the Dong Bo pork made by the other sister locations. Usually the pork dish is shiny and juicy, with delicious sweet sauce covering the meat. Unfortunately this location's dish didn't have the same flavor, the pork fat was not very well cooked and the pork meat had been over cooked to the point I couldn't even cut the meat with a knife easily. The meat was cooked to the point where it was super dry and slightly burnt underneath. When asked how my meal was, I did mention this but was told this was how the dish is meant to be cooked. Obviously, he had no idea I've had this dish many times and also we make it at home. So that was a little disappointing. The other dishes were pretty good otherwise but the response hurt my impression of this place..."
"Nice setting and attentive service!Heard this place was great and didn't disappoint....only down was a little too much garlic in my beef noodle, but flavor was solid!"
"Just to be fair, I came back to taste 張亮麻辣烫 Zhang Liang MaLaTang. Come to find out the Chinese actor Zhang Liang went to court sued this franchise few years ago. Not sure the outcome but here I am. Sampling what the world is raving about. So this franchise is one large restaurant chain in China and over 3000 restaurants worldwide. Wow, we must be lucky to have one in Houston. Slogan is "you can drink up the soup" because all malatang soup is super salty, super greasy and can be really numbing hot. The bowl I received had tiny bit of soup. I paid $14 for tiny bowl is not fair compared with the other reviewer's bowl.I was there really for a snack before grocery shopping. I wanted to try Yin Tang next door. But they weren't open until Monday. Fine. I'll give this one a try since the restaurant was completely empty.Cashier didn't tell me about the soup base. I ordered medium hot. I didn't want to ruin my taste buds because I want to taste the numbing affect. Then, she didn't tell me there's a minimum one pound of ingredients. I went back 3 times to get more food from the ingredients cooler. The food came out really quick. Skipping to the end, I did finish the soup and paying for it later. Back to my food... Eating halfway through to find out black mold on both chopsticks. I had to make sure it's not from my hand. So I picked out a fresh pack from the counter. Sure enough, it was on the bamboo chopsticks, too. I alerted the staff. She didn't know what to do. I could only hear mumbling through her mask. So I posted it on Google. Someone apologized and said will exchange them with suppliers. Okay. I'll try them again in few months."
"We ended up at Szechuan Spice for our Christmas dinner. Not our typical routine but do to some random events, here we sat. Surprisingly, the place was almost full and to-go orders flowed all night. Seemed to be a pretty good sign that the food was good. We started with some egg rolls and ordered Szechuan pepper beef, Mongolian beef and Orange chicken. We also had the steamed rice, fried rice and vegetable lo mein. The egg rolls were tiny and basic 4/10. All the entrees were solid 8/10 each. Not the best I've had but would order all of them again. The beef meals were both nice and spicy like we like it. Rice is rice but was cooked well and so was the lo mein. I'd say this is a solid 4 star spot. They have beer and wine options too. Service was real friendly and as good as you could ask for, especially considering how busy they were. I'm sure we will be back. My wife liked it a lot."
"My parents have made this place a regular spot so I decided to give it a try this weekend when I was in town visiting them. The place has that Chinatown vibe but in Sugar land. They have a diverse menu and great lunch specials. Dinner prices are actually on par with many Chinatown places. Overall the food is flavorful. and the service is good. However, I live near Chinatown, so unless I happen to be in the area, I wouldn't make the trip out to Sugar Land just to come here."
"It's a bit of a drive to the other side of Pearland for me to get to Happy China and once there the parking is typically a little horrendous.I continue to return bc it's the only place I can trust to fulfill my egg foo young needs. Its also one of few places that even serves egg foo young. I typically get the house special egg foo young with fried rice and will occasionally add a hot n sour soup. I also like that for a nominal bit more, you can upgrade your rice side to one of their fried rice + protein options. Happy China is a great go to for egg foo young. Not the best I've ever had but a solid choice given the options available. Also the service is always good! The young lady at the checkout counter is always calm, sweet and pleasant."
"Been here a few times now, and it's a solid spot serving authentic Chinese flavors. Honestly the most appealing thing about this place is the location. It's conveniently along the 59 north feeder road, in the shopping center lining the road.Despite having dumpling in its name, I've found the dumplings to be mediocre compared to its nearby competitors. My water boiled fish was on the bland side. The cold cucumber appetizer was all right. I enjoyed the crispness. My friend really enjoyed the bbq pork buns.Overall nice spot. I wouldn't put it as my top spot, but I would happily return."
