My first visit here was good. Came for lunch solo and had quick and good service. I got the 3 hand roll set and added hotate and negitoro. Overall the fish quality is great and ingredients fresh. They use high quality seaweed here for sure. While the toppings they use for the Temaki are delicious I feel like they are a bit too powerful for subtleness of the raw fish. The crunchy onions and cucumbers etc that they use are well done but are overpowering imo. I hate to compare handies to the other not to be named Temaki place in the heights but I feel it's only natural. The later has larger handrolls that I feel showcase the raw fish in a better way. I like what they had to offer but needed to deliver it in more refined hand. Favorites: sake negitoro spicy tuna.

Great place for hand rolls! I always get the 3 Hand-roll set. I think it's perfect for first timers. Makes you full & is tasty. Parking is street parking. Not too bad if you come early.

This. This is the place to go! Handies truly gives you quality, food and service. The food was so fresh and flavorful and the workers were very attentive and friendly. I came here for dinner and got the three hand roll set, sake crudo, and scallop crudo, and two additional handrolls, hamachi handroll and the kani handroll. Everything was super good quality and as a sushi connoisseur, I definitely recommend this place. Everything has such a good balance of flavor and texture.

Trust me when I say this is some of the best sushi I have had in Houston. We had the 3 hand rolls, 2 different crudo dishes, and some sashimi. We loved everything and agreed everything was seasoned perfectly. We will be back and trying all the sister restaurants. Oh, it's good to know this place is small and only has bar seating. This makes it a place perfect for couples.

Nestled in the Heights, Handies Douzo offers a curated selection of hand rolls and sashimi that exemplify the beauty of simplicity elevated to perfection. The limited menu may seem modest at first glance, but it's a testament to the founders' dedication to quality over quantity. Each item on the menu is a masterpiece in its own right, carefully crafted to showcase the freshness and flavor of the ingredients. The sashimi we had was fresh and bursting with flavor and melt-in-your-mouth tenderness that speaks volumes about their freshness. Undoubtedly where Handies Douzo truly shines is the hand rolls. Each seemingly simple roll is a symphony of flavors and textures, meticulously balanced to tantalize the taste buds and leave a lasting impression.Their inviting atmosphere encourages patrons to linger and savor every bite. The waiting time is minimal, ensuring that everyone can indulge in their cravings without delay. We will undoubtedly be coming back for more!!

This place is a very cute date spot with decent food. The price is definitely on the higher end, but for a once in a while splurge, I would recommend it. All the seats circle the sushi bar, and it's a more personalized experience with the chefs and other customers. With regards to the hand rolls, we tried the Hamachi, Negitoro, and BGB Sake. I would rate those rolls in that order. They were all good, but the Hamachi was the best and was a nice surprise as we don't usually go for yellow tail when getting sushi.Outside of that, we also got the Maguro and Notorious BGB. The Maguro was good. The Notorious BGB was better in my opinion. For people who like a little spicy kick, I would recommend that one.If you do end up coming here, it seems to be only street parking, and I would definitely recommend grabbing a reservation as it fills up fast. We luckily got to walk in without one and got seats, but it is a small place.

My friend loves this place and when I went to visit her, we came here directly after she picked me up from the airport. We each got the 3 Hand Roll Set, which came with BGB Sake, Hamachi and Spicy Tuna. I also got a cocktail but can't remember what was in it. It was refreshing.Everything was fresh and I liked that the Spicy Tuna wasn't drowning in mayo.We were still hungry and ordered: Salmon sashimi: Salmon was marinated (Ponzu sauce?) and came with sliced radish which added some crunchiness.Bluefin Otoro sashimi: Melted in my mouth like butter.Santa Barbara Uni handroll: Creamy uni. Need I say more?Service was friendly and rolls and sashimi came out fast. I am so glad my friend introduced me to this place - I am a definitely a fan!

Everything was so good! Do try to get a reservation though. They were super nice to squeeze us in before a reservation came in. I got the 4 set rolls and it came with the BGB sake, negitoro, spicy tuna, and avocado. My favorites from the set was BGB sake, super tasty, and the spicy tuna which had crunchy crips in it. The best spicy tuna hand roll I ever had. I also tried their notorious BGB which had a side that taste like fish sauce to me and hotate which is scallop crudo with refreshing citrus. Both are delicious and are a must try! Their bluefin Akami sashimi was fresh too. I didn't like negitoro sashimi as much but that is just a preference. All of their drinks are solid too.

Handies Douzo has been on my list for a while and I'm so glad I finally got to taste the hype! There is only street parking at this location but not too bad. Space inside is limited to bar seating only so reservations are needed for weekend dinners. We ended up getting the 5 Hand Roll set since we couldn't decide what to order and it was perfect to start with. The best roll from the set was BGB Sake. Kani was also good and crunchy. Spicy mayo was on the spicier side. The meat tasted very fresh and savory, this definitely my new favorite spot when it comes to hand rolls!
