Civic Liquor and Wine #2

I went in to Civic Liquor and Wine to buy a bottle of tequila for an upcoming weekend trip for my wife and I. I chose Civic Liquor and Wine because they came up in a search for a specific brand of tequila. I recognize the area as it is directly across the street from a liquor store I had previously stumbled on. I wish I'd read the first review prior to going. The other is not bad, but they have nothing on Civic. I walked in and was immediately greeted by the clerk, an Air Force veteran, who was very friendly and social. He made a recommendation on which flavor of tequila he would recommend at my request. I'd also like to say that (in reference to the 1-star review) I am African-American and received no negative vybes. We actually had a long conversation about life in the military, effects of the pandemic on sales (so much higher) and food. I am not a heavy drinker, but this is my spot whenever I buy liquor in the future. Lastly, Civic Liquor and Wine gave me a military discount on my purchase. A+ service. I definitely recommend.

My husband walked in the store and he stated as soon as he walked in the door, a man stood up from behind the counter and started following him around the store. The man never greeted him, never asked if he could assist him with finding something... just silence, and following him around the store.. My husband is a black male and we live right here in Fairfield and have for the past year, we have NEVER experienced racism and racial profiling until today! That is absolutely despicable!! My husband stated that the lady working behind the counter apologized on the man's behalf but it should have NEVER happened in the first place!!

The people who run this liquor store are always kind, helpful, and quick to strike up a conversation. This store is very clean, well-stocked, and if they don't have your preferred drink, they will add it to a wish-list they keep behind the counter. This liquor store blows the other liquor store directly across the street out of the water.

Civic Liquor is the best! Great selection and always friendly. Need something special, just ask.
