"Nice backyard area to sit and relax. Bummer though the day we went. They were out of all but three wines. They did give complimentary samples of the three, but then you purchased either a glass or a bottle. Prices seemed high, and not worth the price. Very nice staff though."
"We came here on the Texas Independence Wine Trial. This was our last stop after Blue Mule and Rohan Meadery. A simple tasting room. The hosts were friendly and we enjoyed the wine tasting. The meat and cheese plate left a lot to be desired, I would pass on that if I ventured here again."
"A good friend recommended I make the trip from Houston (1.10hrs) to Chapelton Vineyards and I'm so glad I did. On the way up, or down (not sure bc I'm bad at geography), we got caught in the bad storm and had to pull over for it to pass. The less than 1.5hr drive turned into a 2.5 hr trip so by the time we got to the vineyard, we were so turned off. As soon as we were seated, one of the owners came by to introduce herself and offered us a complimentary glass of rosè on the house. We settled in a bit and got to ordering. Before ordering a bottle of the Symphony, we tried out several other whites and although they were good, the Symphony stood out the best. As for the food, the menu is limited for those who don't eat meat so we ordered the flat bread and skewers. Our food was great and so was the wine. What was even better was the other owner, although it was past tour hours, took a group of us on a tour of the cellar. We learned the history of how the vineyard came about, how they cork their wines and everything in between. The tour was great and it only lasted for about 15-20 minutes. We then toured the rest of the vineyard on our own and took in the scenery. The grounds are so well taken care of, the staff was great and the food and wine was top tier. It was such a good time and I can't wait to go back."
"I came here for a birthday celebration for a friend on a Saturday evening. She held her party in the private room. But there appeared to be ample seating inside and on the patio. They had just started the live music for the night. Playing lively old school hits for the grown & sexy, lol.Service- I think our server, Jasmine, was overwhelmed by the large group. She started out attentive with a smile, and then the smile faded by the end. It may have been too much. I expected service to be slow with a big party, but it was disjointed. Half of the guests had finished their meals by the time the other half had just gotten theirs to take a first bite. She didn't have any help, and it was a lot of food and drinks, so I get it. This likely was out of Jasmines hands. We just had to ask multiple times for a lot of things. Drinks - I had a glass of the "Sparking Almond" for $13. I liked it. But I wish I had just done the wine tasting so I could try a bit of everything. I bought a glass of "Fight like a Girl" for $12, there pink Moscato for the birthday girl. She liked it. So I decided to buy her a bottle of "Fight like a Girl" as a bday gift, for my friend as well for $40. And to support this Black Owned business. It's cool because some of the proceeds go towards breast cancer. Great cause to drink!Food - I ordered the mushroom risotto appitizer. I liked that they had an appetizer portion of this as well as an entree to give a chance to sample it instead of making it a whole meal. I also ordered the cheese flat bread. Both were ok. I wanted it to be delicious. The risotta, while cooked properly, did not have the depth of richness needed to pull off the creamy unami expectation of a risotta. But risotto is hard to pull off in general, so I understand. The cheese flat bread looked different than previous reviews on here. The bread itself almost seemed like a cauliflower or gluten-free like crust. Vibes - The live band began to play Louisiana style music and entered the private room, and we really had a good time.I love supporting black owned businesses. Our server said the owners would come say hello, but they didn't arrive. The live music is nice to enjoy while eating, and I am guessing the $5.00 band fee we were charged, covers the band cost, which makes sense. Overall, the place has good vibes! So I would actually give this another chance if in the area. I hope service is great in their regular dining section as opposed to their private party room. Some of the guests said they had been here for brunch, and it was good."
"This would be my second trip to yepez. I was invited to go to celebrate my birthday and what a treat it was. I live in Baytown so it was a quick 20 min drive to Yepez vineyard. The parking is quite small but once you walk into the grounds you feel as if though you have been transported to a small Tuscan cottage. You can see the grape vines from the parking and the walk way entry has a lovely trellis filled with lush greenery. There are small seating areas that flank the walk way and for a hot summer day like yesterday they have large fans on. Once your indoors there are small tables and booth style seating. Your usually greeted by the owner who stands behind a small bar counter to Serve up your three complimentary tastings with purchase. You have the option of buying a bottle or glass and you can leave with a case if you find that perfect wine. There is such a great selection available from your sweet chilled white And reds to the more dry varieties. For my three complimentary tastings I tried their Cabernet, Gran mezcla- red blend and the Sauvignon blanc. I was accompanied by two other people so of course I took a sample of their samples . I tried the merlot, the Malbec and a chilled semi sweet red that starts off sweet and ends spicy (kind of like me after a few glasses) I can't remember the name(I know it had Muertos in the name ) but it's a must try. After our tastings we decided to stay inside and ended up buying two of the Sauvignon Blancs which were a refreshing addition to a hot summer day. You can bring your own tapas/picnic food to go with with your wine but if you didn't and just want something to munch on they have a small selection of gourmet deli meat and cheese. They even sell Lindt chocolates bars. I regret not taking more photos but I got there at 2 and left at 6 when they closed. Im sure we would of stayed longer if we could. In the end I left with a red and white wine and have already made plans to return. They are are family friendly establishment and have a great casual but still warm vibe. Highly recommend this small vineyard and if you go let me know and I will meet you there. Their summer hours are 12-6 Friday to Sunday and on Sunday's they usually have live music. If you check their website they usually have postings of any upcoming events like grape stomping! You have to go and take me with you !"
"The people are nice but like the previous reviewer said the wine is pretty bad. The only one that is passable is the Cabernet Sauvignon. Nice backyard too."
"My friends and I came here for a girls day. We did a grape stomp. You pick your own grapes, put them in a bucket.. stomp, and step on your t shirt. We finished the outing with a glass of sangria. This was a fun trip for something to do with the girls or even with your kids."
"I absolutely adore this place. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The atmosphere is relaxed and cozy. They also have great selections of wine and beer. When we went they had live music which was very pleasant. We also noticed that they have a space to rent out for events, there was a wedding going on whilst there. They don't serve food but there is a yummy food truck outside and you can eat outside or inside. I loved that they had an axe throwing experience right outside, it was so much fun. Overall this place a very nice local spot and I highly recommend it!"
"Service was great. Staff very friendly and quick to assist with questions. Outdoor space was nice and they had a musician playing as well. Tastings were reasonably priced and included a free sangria. Unfortunately we found some of the wines not to be to our taste. A good experience nonetheless."
"This joint is right next to Majek Vineyard's and they're just as equally nice and friendly. Why are people so lovely out in Moravia? This joint is legit Italian and is run by an Italiano transplant who actually lives in Katy but comes in every weekend to run the vineyard. What's interesting about this place is that you can taste all the wines FOR FREE--and they are liberal with their pours. My friend and I chose a cozy sofa setup and settled in for the tastings. The owners even give you a little small plate of nuts and cheese for your tasting. I mean! While we didn't love any of their reds, the blanc du bois was perfectly refreshing and balanced. I liked it so much I even bought a bottle. The setup is not as cute as Majek but the customer service is just as good!"
"What a great find! Tucked away behind some other businesses, a true gem. Lots of wines to choose from and for many types of palates. The owners are so knowledgeable and such great conversationalists you will want to hang out in the tasting room for a bit."

This place is awesome! Great location with nice picnic tables outside and warm Texas weather! Staff is great and very welcoming! The staff did a great job of explaining the wine and where the wine grapes are from. Space is very inviting, both inside and out! Wine is very good too! I was surprised the white wine was delicious! I'm normally not a white wine drinker, but this was nice and sweet, but not too sweet! Red wine was very tasty and again, not too cold nor too sweet! This place is great for large parties, like mine! Plenty of space, tables, outdoor picnic table and a new pond coming soon! Lots of grass area to walk around and plenty of parking! Pricing is very reasonable! I'd recommend this spot for anyone who is in the area to have a great time with good wine!

Always fun to stop at a local winery and taste a few. Sometimes you find a wine that just knocks your hat in the creek. Sometimes it's just the joy of hearing the owners talk about their wines and their love of making it.The older gentleman that opened the door for us when we pulled up was so excited to tell us about where they get their grapes and how they make their wines and how they got into wine making. It was worth the stop on our road trip Memorial Day weekend. We tried a flight of 5 dry wines. It's $5 for a tasting...they do not take the $5 off if you buy as some wineries do. Their chardonnay was a very light chardonnay. Not that over buttered California variety. And BTW all their wines are 100% varietal grapes. I wasn't a fan of the Cab Sav but we did buy a bottle of their Merlot. And their port was really pretty tasty too!But of course everyone has a favorite so what I like may not be what you like. But for $5 you can try some nice local wines and enjoy the conversation with the owner. The wines weren't expensive .. $15 to $25.The tasting room isn't fancy. There's not a big gift shop. The grounds aren't much to look at...they will let you wander through the sparse vines and your dog will enjoy the break on the trip down 71. Pull in, stretch your legs, enjoy some Texas hospitality and maybe you'll plop down a few bucks to buy these young, home made wines.

Visited Chapelton Vineyards the Saturday before Christmas with my family! I love wine and visit vineyards across the globe but I'll admit, I don't really go for a lot of Texas wines because they tend to be too sweet for my palate. Wasn't sure what to expect from Chapelton but, I wanted to go support. While I think walk-ins are welcome, I made a reservation a few weeks in advance for a group of 7. It's a "quick" drive from Houston. It took me about an hour and 15 min from downtown. The closer you get, the more sceniec and slightly hilly it becomes. The entire property is gorgeous! I can only imagine the beauty in the spring or during harvest. The weather was a bit rainy so we sat inside. Again, the entire property is beautiful. We initially planned on doing the signature wine tasting but after Alfredo, our wine connoisseur for the afternoon answered some of my questions (I am very well versed in winery visits), we opted to buy full bottles of wine and curate our own tasting. We ordered the syrah, the cab, the rosé, and the symphony. We also ordered the hummus, the braised short rib, and the flatbread. The food and wine are phenomenal! I've been on a white wine kick so The Symphony was my fave. I also enjoyed the rosé. Those in my groupwho preferred reds really enjoyed the cab. Great marks for the syrah too if you love a full bodied red. We did the tour with Alle and she was a wealth of information. Chapelton uses a variety of grapes and not only Texas grapes. Staff was awesome, shoutout to Alfredo, Samantha, Alle, and the executive chef! I look forward to visiting again!

Came here for date night. Reservations mean nothing here but i guess that's ok bc there were tables available. They had a DJ and the music was very very loud. We were screaming at each other everytime we talked. This place isn't as fancy as Messina. Food was very good though. Got the salmon and mushroom risotto but received spinach risotto instead. Couldn't tell the waitress bc they were so busy and didn't come around. We saw her twice. When we ordered and when we paid. We also asked for small plates bc we were sharing an app and main dish. Didn't receive those either. Overall, the food was good. But the loud music and lack of waitstaff made it enough for us to not return.

I was referred to this winery by a coworker who spoke so highly of this place. I've been on a wine craze lately, and with this location pretty close to home, it worked out perfectly :) Yepez has some of the best wines I've ever had! The tasting was free with a purchase of a bottle, which were all reasonably priced. The winery is very casual and since the place is family owned, the lady working was personable and helpful in helping us figure out which wine we'd like best. You can bring your own snacks which is such a huge plus. My friends and I brought a cheap tray of cheese, meat, and crackers. I believe Yepez is also family friendly :)

The place is cute and customer service was great however the wine is horrible. Unfortunately don't waste your time here. We wanted to love this place because the people were so nice and atmosphere was cool but when it comes down to it the wine was just plain terrible. Sorry :(

Yeah...no...Came here as part of a wine getaway weekend with Hubby and my parents. The owner (August) was very nice and we enjoyed sitting on the patio out back...But...The tasting was $16 each, even with including the cute little tasting glasses (very little-not regular wine glasses), this was ridiculous. However, we had driven all the way out there and decided we were splurging for the weekend anyway, so went for it. Wrong choice. Sorry, but not one of the wines was drinkable-to any of us, and we represent very different palates. They were all too "young" tasting-green and sour. And the lavender one had way too much lavender (reminded me of an old lady bathroom...not what one looks for in their wine). The place is a bit run down looking too and the bathroom situation is weird (you go in the laundry room of the main house and it's not too clean).I can't recommend and won't be back.

Great venue! We had a group of 11. They have long tables inside able to fit big groups and also smaller tables. One side of the brewery is beer and the other side is wine. The ceilings are tall and the decor is true Texas! We went on a Saturday. There was a live one man band. He was really good! I was surprised the Chardonnay wine was so good. I usually don't care for Chardonnay. It was clean and buttery. I tried a couple of the light beers. Both were very good. We all enjoyed our day at the brewery. The weather was spotty all day with rain, so we could not spend any time outside (plus it was too hot), but the outdoor area is calling me back. There no lack of seating at this place; indoor or outdoor! The service was great and the energy was relaxed. There was a food truck on-site, but I'm not sure what they serve. Will be back (and maybe try that food truck)!

"On a recent trip to Houston for a brewery tour, we randomly decided to stop by this winery in the middle of nowhere! When we pulled up, it really seemed like the middle of nothing...but when we walked in, it was hoppin'! It's pretty small inside (and it was raining that weekend so no one was outside) and all of the tables were full of people! They were having a fun event with fondue, so that may have been part of the popularity, but man, everyone was so welcoming! We did the tasting, which was maybe $10-15 for 4-5 pours. Not bad. We each ended up buying a couple of bottles as well, because we were all able to find wines that we enjoyed! The owners were really friendly and helpful, and they were able to share a lot about the wines that they offered. I will say that of the wines I tried, I didn't enjoy a lot of them (I like full bodied wines) but there were a couple that I felt like we could buy and let age for a bit, which is what we're doing. And our friends bought a couple of bottles that they enjoyed as well.We had a great time, and we loved that people were so welcoming to us as we joined their tables. That alone made the experience different from just stopping by a random place and trying wine!"
"What a serendipitous encounter!! We found this place through their billboard on the road from Houston to San Marcos. It is definitely off the beaten path and literally follows a long, bumpy dirt road to reach. Upon arrival we were awe-struck by the beauty of the grape-vines and the sky. I had no idea Texas wineries could be so green! Everything was beautiful and peaceful. Multiple seating areas outside. Adorable dogs running around the grounds. The workers and out pourer were friendly and knowledgeable. The tasting fee is 9$ for 5 tastes. You can pick and choose from the menu and they will most likely throw in a few other samples if you show interest. Now, I'm from California so I have pretty high standards when it comes to wine. I was impressed with their whites which is rare. The Chardonnay was light with a buttery finish. It should be noted that their wine varietals Tend more toward the sweet. Still, there seemed to be something for everybody. We bought a bottle of Chardonnay (and a bottle of desert wine to go) and sat in the back staring at the amazing scenery and one of the most iconic Texas sunsets. They bring out water and snack bites for you during your stay. We met some cool people and watched the dogs run around. Such a cool spot to unwind. Although a bit out of the way from Austin, I think it is highly worth it to make a day of road-tripping and if you can Time your visit with the sunset, you are in for a huge treat!"
"I came here for a bachelorette brunch. The space is big with a restaurant inside and vineyard outside. The service was great and very informative. If you do the wine tasting you get a complimentary wine glass which is nice. I got the wine slush which was sweet and refreshing and perfect in this Houston 100° weather. For food I got the quiche that came with a side salad. The quiche was tasty but kinda dry. Next time I will get something else. Definitely will come back (I've also been to the one near College Station)."
"This is a great new winery to the area. Smaller place that is family owned and operated. Casual atmosphere but they are very hospitable and will go out of their way to make sure you are comfortable and having a good time. Nice change of pace from some of the larger wineries that can feel a bit sterile and stuffy. They also take great pride in their wines - and they make some good ones. Mostly lighter wines that pair well with a warm Texas day. Fair prices and beautiful grounds to enjoy it all on. They actually grow the grapes for their signature white wine - so you can enjoy a glass while looking out over a field of grape vines it came from - which is a rarity in Texas. Less than an hour away from Houston, so makes a great day trip. Definitely will be back."
"En route to Austin, Wimberley, Ledbetter and all other towns west of Houston, we like to stop into Saddlehorn Winery for a wine tasting, especially if we have some first-timers with us.The tasting room is in a restored/converted horse barn; and the 390 acre property is complete with vineyards, a small lake, bridge, parking, outdoor seating...Opt to do a tasting which includes your pick of six of their wines. They sell meat and cheese plates. And sometimes they sell pizzas (we arrive ten minutes past the serving time, which was a disappointment). Not into a tasting? Just pop in and enjoy a glass of wine. Wines by the glass: $7 whites, $10 reds"
"July 9, 2022New owners as of 2020 and one of them is a guy named Kyle ... You can see him on their Instagram page. He's a hunk of a man! Whew!Came tonight to see the moon and the stars... with heavy duty microscopes, the one for the moon was huge and from NASA !I drank a nice Tempranillo that had hints of cinnamon, blackberries and cocoa. Good $17 at Total Wine , $35 at winery/glass $14My friend bought a bottle of sweet Blanc de Bois (blue) $26 at winery $25 on their www and $14 at Total Wine. I tried the semi sweet, "purple tortoise" with hints of cherry and strawberry, meh wouldn't order again $16 at Total Wine $19 at winery/glass $9So yeah... There's THAT"
"What a fun place! Little mini vacation in Conroe, enjoyed a bingo night at this quaint winery! Customer Service was outstanding! We had flights of wine, then our own glasses of wine was all delicious!! (My favorite wine was the Estate dry blanc du bois) A charcuterie and my friends had chicken salad croissant all delish!"
"Small winery, intimate feel. We met Sandy himself, and he's a fun one! We tried 6 wines here:- 2018 Texas Blanc du bois (sweet)- 2020 Blanc du bois (dry)- 2020 Old World Blanc du bois - 2018 Pink rose of Texas- 2017 Texas Lenoir- 2014 Bounty Land CrossingsMy favorites were the blanc du bois (not the sweet one). I think I remember Sandy saying that Old World was made with oak..? Or something like that. Regardless, we ended up buying 2 bottles each of Blanc du bois and Old World blanc du bois (they have a 25% off special when you buy 4 bottles!).My only complaint is that they had us reuse our cups, although they did give us new cups for the reds. I would have liked a different cup for each tasting so that I wouldn't feel rushed to finish my previous tasting. There were also some that I felt obliged to finish, even if I didn't want to, because they were reusing cups.Overall, I really enjoyed our visit here - we had such a fun and delicious time!"
"I've gone to Texas Star Winery two, maybe three times, and always walked away with a few bottles to take back home. The Winery is located in Chappell Hill and is part of the "Texas Bluebonnet Wine Trail."The tasting room itself is in what looks like a house. There is plenty of parking, outdoor seating, and yes, the outside is dog friendly. The tasting room is inside, though. While they make and sell wines from grapes, what sets them apart from other wineries I've been to, is their fruit wines. Wines made from hibiscus, plumb, cranberries, and prickly pear. Yes, you heard right. Wine from fruit. And buyer beware - the alcohol content is the same as wine. I like to pour it over ice with some sparkling water and - voila - a quick sangria for poolside sipping. While I'm not a huge fan of the wines, my mother is. So I always bring her back a few bottles to enjoy with her friends on game night. Hence, the four star rating. They also let you taste more than what you select from your tasting, so I'm always happy to buy more wine than I actually need. They serve crackers and souvenirs/wine related gifts."
"Our MOST FAVORITE sparkling wine!! We bought a case at the last Texas Reds Fest in Bryan. Just wish we could buy this in Houston easier, as we would keep a steady supply... Light and crisp and not like a typical sparkling wine at the liquor store- you can taste the unique homemade craftsmanship- you can taste that it's not a mass production conveyer belt kind of wine they just crank out for the dough- they do it because they enjoy it."
"Wow! What a find! We were in Spring and looked up wineries and Gadela was listed. The wine tasting is extensive, 8 pours, and filled with so many interesting flavors and varietals. And if you think the fabulous wines are the best part, the people are even better! The owner takes time to speak with all the guests and answer any questions you may have. The true rock star of the day however was Luis! We could have spend a whole day there drinking wine and talking to him. A truly great way to spend my birthday!"
"Lovely time, beautiful place in the middle of nowhere. Wasn't a huge fan of the wines."
"Very nice place and still not very well known, so it doesn't get too busy. The interior is nice, they have two separate seating areas inside, each with a bar. They also have a conference room, which I assume you could rent. They offer wine by the bottle or glass in addition to tastings (6 for $15). Overall, their prices are on par with upscale wine bars, but it a more relaxed atmosphere and without the crowd."
"I drive by this winery almost every day on the way home from work and kept wanting to stop so one day I finally did. It's very rustic and groovy with tons of chickens running around in the parking lot area. The wine is delicious. I am not a huge sweet wine drinker but wow I fell in love with paint the town red. As in, I have to have a bottle in the house at all times! The staff was super friendly and their slushy's were amazing. I tasted a flight and bought some bottles to take home and a slushy to go to enjoy later. There was some really cool jewelry there and I got to meet the artist while visiting the winery. It is a great place for a girls getaway or Romaintic Date stop . They have an amazing selection of wines and it is close to awesome antique shopping near Roundtop. and La Grange."
"This was an excellent place to taste wines. They have a beautiful tasting room with some free charcuterie to have between wines. This was one of the best experiences I've had at a winery and I hope everyone comes out to try their products. They also sell jellies made from the same grapes they used to make the wine as well as a selection of cheeses to go with your purchase."
"Froggys is a wonderful family owned one on one personal experience that my wife and I will never forget! Every wine I tasted was very good! Definitely coming back soon!!"
"12.4.23 My hubby and I went to listen to some live music with a few wonderful couples from our subdivision. What a wonderful place and great company. It was a Bob Seger cover band. You can bring your own food and non-alcoholic beverages and purchase alcohol from them. It was a little breezy when we went - we all just brought blankets and pot luck food. Several of our neighbors have been here before and said during the warmer months they have several food trucks and tons of people. We had a great time getting to know some of our neighbors, eating and listening to the music. This is a must go place. Look online to what musicians are coming and buy your tickets. (I think they are $20.)"
"Love visiting this family owned winery/tasting room. Not only are the wines great, the ambiance and service are impeccable. Such a nice place to gather for a date night or evening out with friends. They do have live music I believe mainly on Thursday and Friday evenings. You can even pickup some great gift items while you enjoy their wine. The whole family has lived in the area for years and are extremely accommodating, friendly and giving back to the community"
