Brett N. "Why 5 stars? Because they have a cumulative 5 stars and I can't argue with that. --- --- ---Gessner's has been on my list for a while but it was about a 35 minute drive from my house, so I finally just made it there recently. As you're driving up, you definitely seem like you're in the wrong place. It's pretty industrial and just looks like you're in the midst of a bunch of automotive shops. The only tell is that they have a fairly large "BBQ sign" off the main road that you turn onto off Sawdust. We ordered food to go and then headed to the park to eat it there while our son played on the playground. While this was not something Gessner's did, the weather was absolutely perfect on this day, so that made the experience *that* much nicer. As for the food itself, I went with the loaded baked potato with chopped beef. It was excellent. One of the better loaded baked potatoes I've had, and there are many in the area. The only two snafu's were that my wife did not receive BBQ sauce with her brisket sandwich, even though it was requested, which made it a bit dry. And they did not provide us with plastic cutlery, so we had to pop into another restaurant to grab some. For dessert, we had the banana cream pie cake and Oreo truffles. They were also awesome. The banana cream pie cake was just what it sounds like: banana cream pie on top of cake. Usually, it's just in pie form, but the cake on the bottom layer was a nice touch. The Oreo truffle was almost too quickly scarfed down to have much of an opinion other than: "good".If we lived closer, we would make this a regular stop, but we'll happily visit again when in the area."

First of all, this place is incredibly clean. This could've been because it was only morning and everything and been wiped down and I think I was the first person there, regardless, I ordered the omelette, which comes with the option of three items with your choice of cheese, potatoes, and biscuit. I had them made mine with swiss (they didn't have mozzarella) bacon, tomatoes, and onions, and a side of gravy. The omelette was made with cheddar instead of Swiss and the onions could have been could a little longer, but this meal actually was enough for 2 people. Everything was so delicious and just what my cube mate and I needed to start our day! P.S. the food did not make it in time for a photo"

A friend recommended their breakfast but we were slow moving and missed breakfast and made it for lunch. I ordered a hamburger and coleslaw and my husband ordered a Cuban sandwich with fries. My burger was incredible. The bun was so fresh and the meat had a great flavor. Oh, and the coleslaw was super tasty. I ate a few of my hubby's fries and they were very good. Not greasy! The portion size was enough for 2 people. His Cuban sandwich was made with thin ham instead of thick. He said it was good but not what he was expecting. (He would not order it again) Now, let's talk about the snickerdoodle cookie I bought. O M Goodness it was the B E S T snickerdoodle I have every had! My hubby agreed!! I wish we would have bought more, but it was good that I didn't. I would have ate all of them! There desserts change every week and they serve breakfast only on the weekends. Also they were having karaoke later that evening. This place looks so fun. It was super clean and inviting. This might be one of my new favorite places. I have to tell you the area where Whitehall is located is absolutely beautiful. One of the sweet girls working there said the bluebonnets cover the fields around there. Also, the Whitehall community center is just up the road and has all kinds of events. There is a car show coming up. This is a MUST stop!!!"

It costs about $14 but just like my loyal dog, it never disappoints you. Only thing I would recommend is get it to go do then they load your to go box with all the toppings, if you order it to eat in, you have to get your own chives, bbq sauce sour cream. I know first world problems but to me it's worth it to have it come complete. Only other thing I wonder about this place is if you have Pepsi on draft how come you don't have Mountain Dew? Mike M. "I could swear that I wrote a review here several years ago but alas it's not there anymore and vaguely remember a barely average visit Yelp sometimes does that (delete a review) as I have experienced that before. Anyway, I decided for another visit a week ago for lunch. This restaurant has limited parking and offers a drive thru line. Inside its a counter service restaurant where you pick up a tray and slide it down the line while directing the staff as to what you want from the steam table. I went with the 1 meat 2 sides meal for $15.25 and chose a 1/2 chicken with beans and potato salad. While I thought the chicken did have a smoky flavor their bbq sauce is salty to me. The beans are ranch style which I don't particularly care for and prefer baked beans with brisket and onion better. The mustard based potato salad could have been creamier and I didn't finish it. I was torn between giving a 2 or 3 score here. The staff was very friendly and I could tell during my visit that this place is kind of popular with the locals as I saw several people dining here and also going in the drive thru. I don't think I will return but will give the benefit of the doubt due to the apparent local support and give a 3."

SO imagine my happy squeal when I realized that I was only minutes away from a Hawaiian food place like Maikai'i Hawaiian BBQ.Katy Asiatown seems relatively new and all the other establishments in the plaza are all indicators of a warm feeling of being home to me since I've moved. I have all sorts of Asian foods to choose from and then I have this Hawaiian joint in the mix. I drove happily to the spot and when I entered the venue, the vibes were definitely laid back and color toned to match an L&L from Hawai'i.There weren't any people when I went but my server was nice and attentive. He took my order and I waited a good while for my food. I ordered the Mixed plate of kalbi beef, grilled chicken and chicken katsu. I also got two musubis because again, it's been a while since I've had rice! When I went home to eat the food, I was shocked at how much it did taste like home. The rice was short grain and the spam was marinated and fried to perfection. The katsu was so crunchy and it paired well with the teriyaki sauce it came with. The mac salad was so flavorful and 'ono! I HAVE FOUND A PIECE OF HAWAII IN TEXAS! :) and I definitely plan on coming back again and again whenever I need to be reminded of home."

First things first, the service and hospitality was exceptional from beginning to end. All the staff we encountered were welcoming, friendly, and helpful. That being said, the food unfortunately did not live up to the reviews. Sliced Brisket Plate ($19.99): 3 slices of brisket with choice of two sides which we opted for the mac & cheese + potatoes. The brisket was a miss as it wasn't juicy or tender/melt-in-your-mouth as we had hoped. Nice little fatty later on top of the brisket to compensate but it just wasn't enough. Brisket Sandwich ($13.99): The chopped brisket in the sandwich was much more flavorful and tender though the entirety of the sandwich itself was on the saltier side. I ate the sandwich along with pickled onions which was a great pair but wish there was jalapeños as well as I've seen in the condiment pictures. Smoked Sausage (~$7): Casing of the sausage had a very good snap to it. Great dipped in a little bit of BBQ sauce.Bread provided complimentary with your meal. The bread was outstanding and suuuuuuper soft/fluffy.Private shared parking lot amongst other businesses in the plaza. No issues finding parking as there was ample."

The service was okay too, they were informative and the food didn't take forever to come out. There was also good music playing. I ordered the crab cake and trash can brisket nachos. The nachos don't come with a lot of toppings and meat is dry. The table next to us hardly finished their food and said to not get the nachos but we had already ordered. Ours followed suite to what they said. If you're debating the nachos I would advise against it. The crab cake on the other hand was delicious. It's an appetizer so it's just the single crab cake. The price of the food didn't match how it tasted. Others ordered entrees and they said they were good. I heard the ribs were really good. Brett N. "Why 5 stars? Because the whole package was a 5-star experience. --- --- ---We have been stalking the opening of Porky's Belly BBQ for a while now, as we drive past it every time we head into Montgomery to visit my wife's parents. They recently announced that they were open and we made plans to visit a few days later. Before I get to the food, I'd like to first point out that a business that's only been open for about a week usually is a bit of a hot mess. Our experience was the opposite of that. We ordered a lot of food and fully expected it to be quite some time before it was out, but it came out shockingly fast. Everything was exactly as we ordered it and the employees didn't seem remotely stressed or confused. If I didn't know any better, I would have assumed they had been open for years and were a well-oiled machine.Secondly, we ordered enough food for a small village, and I was imaging that the total price was going to be in the $130 range, but it came in at $89. Especially in this crazy era of inflation, for 4 adults and a kid to be served more than we could even eat for $90, was incredibly impressive. But as for the important stuff... as I mentioned, we ordered a lot. My star rating for each item, which was pretty much agreed on by everyone:Slicked Brisket: 5 -- by far, this was everyone's favorite meat.Ribs: 3.5 -- these were ideal in terms of tenderness, but the flavor was just a tad off from what I was hoping for.Pulled Pork: 3 -- I'm not sure if it was the seasoning, but there was almost like a tanginess to this that I didn't love. It was my least favorite item out of everything we tried.Mac-n-Cheese: 5 -- bury me in it. Perfection.Coleslaw: 5 -- I only had one bite, but everyone at the table loved it, other than my Father-in-law, who thought it was too creamy. I disagreed with my FIL on this day.Pulled Pork Baked Beans: 4.5 -- Definitely hit the spot and are worth ordering againBacon Green Beans: 4 -- When I first saw them, I was not excited, because they just looked like canned green beans dumped onto a plate with some bacon added in. They were definitely not that. They had a nice flavor that kept me going back for more.Banana Pudding: 5 -- Home run. I will never come here again without ordering this.Cheesecake Soapapilla: 4 -- I think this is what it was called. It was really sweet, which made it a bit overwhelming, but still enjoyable.BBQ sauce: 5 -- it was warm coming out of the dispenser, which is something I don't think I've ever experienced, but I loved it. The flavor and consistency were excellent. Job well done, Porky's Belly! I'm so glad you are finally open and you did an amazing job with the building itself. Fingers crossed this business thrives in an area with very few restaurants nearby."

Tiffany J. "I've ordered takeout a few times. I always place an order online and do curbside pick up. I've only dined in once, years ago for a Yelp event. The food is good, but it's definitely not as good as it would be if dining in. I've ordered steak to go twice. I have done the 6 oz. and 9 oz. Flo's Filet. 1st time: I should have ordered it medium like it suggested on the website but I went with medium well. The website warned that the steak will continue to cook, but I live nearby so I figured it wouldn't cook that much longer. My steak was closer to well done when I got home. It still tasted good, but it wasn't as tender as it could have been.2nd time: I ordered the filet medium, and it was basically well done by the time I got home. It was flavorful and surprisingly pretty tender considering it was overcooked (I had no difficulty cutting it with a plastic knife). I've also had the Chicken Fried Chicken. It's massive! It's good, but extremely salty, especially with the cream gravy. The young man that brought out my meal asked me to double check the order to make sure it was correct because I had asked for no dressing with the salad and no bread. I appreciated that. There's nothing worse than ordering take out and then getting home to discover that something is missing or that the order is completely wrong.Sides: I've had the mashed potatoes a couple of times as well as the fried okra (I love it, even though it's usually too salty). On my most recent visit, I ordered the Brussels Sprouts (which costs extra). The Brussels were good but they had a little too much oil. They had a sweetness to them which I enjoyed. The side salad is good and the bread is good, but they give you a mini loaf of bread so I don't always add it to my order. Bottom line: If ordering steak to go, order it 1-2 temp levels below your preference so that it won't be overdone by the time you get home. If you like your steak rare, then dine in at the restaurant and don't bother ordering it to go."

Sauce came on the side in case you needed to add some. I thought the sauce was a bit salty and there way too much soy sauce. Hawaiian bbq is sweet and salty, but the meat was missing the char flavor.
