Seriously the BEST brisket and breakfast tacos ever!! That perfect texture, ring and moisture! And the bbq sides--top coleslaw and sweet potato/kale! The coleslaw was deliciously light and flavorful, a perfect combination with the brisket!The shop itself has such old timey charm with the local goods and some gorgeous antiques! The staff were super friendly and welcoming. Looking forward to coming back for one of their special dinner nights!

Great place! Great outdoor area! The brisket sandwich just gets down to business and showcases the brisket. Simplicity with great taste is hard to come by these days. Nice Smokey flavor, moist and buttery toast checks all the boxes Will be back for another lunch!

Henderson and Kane General Store I feel like is a true sixth ward gem. The place feels like an old-school store the moment you walk in. They offer a variety of local products from pickles, chips, margarita mix, local beer and beyond. They also pull fresh espresso at their coffee shop and sell locally roasted beans. Recently, I was here to snag some Brazos Bagels. It definitely is a general store.The main draw for most people is the bbq which is pretty on par with a lot of barbecue places in town. They also serve delicious breakfast tacos and have good weeknight specials. The people working here are also always very friendly.I consider myself very lucky to live in close proximity to this store. There's a lot of things to like about this place, and definitely a place worth checking out!

Funky BBQ, beer, wine, coffee shop with a very small town feel. Coffee and sweets will bring me back. Love it.

Boy is it pricey, but it is oh so worth it! The store itself is adorable and worth an in-person visit - it's fashioned like an old school general store that features many local artisanal goods, some seating, and even a coffee bar. I actually ordered a chai matcha while we waited for our food and it was surprisingly good. Unexpected from a barbecue restaurant!We ordered the brisket sandwich with coleslaw as the side. The sandwich is again, pricey, but you really get your money's worth with the amount of meat and the quality is absolutely insane. It might be the best brisket I've had in Houston, which is saying something. The meat was so tender and fatty and seasoned to perfection. We've also ordered their breakfast brisket sandwiches to go before, and those are also a must-try (and the perfect hangover cure).

Henderson & Kane was on my list of places to try for a while. Located off of Washington Avenue. Parking is mostly street parking. They have quite an extensive lunch and dinner menu. I decided to try their barbecue selection and ordered the brisket plate with cream corn and the sweet potatoes as my sides. The brisket was good but not the best that I've had when compared to other places in town. My favorite was the sweet potato side. It was tossed in a sweet glaze which made it like the perfect dessert after finishing up the brisket. The cream corn was a tad bit spicy with jalapeño bits mixed into it. The only knock on the cream corn was that it was served lukewarm and not at a hot temperature. There was adequate seating but it can tend to get filled up during the lunch rush. They also offer weekly specials which I'll be back to check out.

Loved this place. Was not sure it was legit, but it is the real deal. The brisket, sausage and ribs were all great. A hidden gem this place is

I love a Henderson & Kane moment! The great BBQ and general store vibe work for me! Their chopped brisket and house-made sausage (all of them) are my favorites. I also enjoy the meaty mac and cheese. I enjoy burger night as well. Love that H&K is nicely tucked into the neighborhood. They have a great wine selection and love dining in when I can. All in all, great BBQ spot and a local favorite of mine!

Why 4 stars? Because it's not like every other place you can get BBQ. --- --- ---I have had Henderson & Kane bookmarked for a long time and finally got an opportunity to stop in before taking my son to an event Downtown. There are a billion places in Houston to get BBQ, but I don't think any of the other spots are located in a throw-back general store. To be honest, the food was closer to 3-stars for me, but I'm rounding up for a unique concept and super nice people. I ordered pulled pork and brisket, with creamed corn and mac-n-cheese as my sides. I also ordered a chocolate caramel tart for dessert. I certainly didn't hate any of it, but I don't think anything stood out, either. I did appreciate a small, 2-table dining area that was separate from the rest of the dining room, which was perfect for me and my 4-year old aka I didn't have to worry about him acting like a 4-year old because no one else was near us.This is a cool spot that I would definitely come to more regularly if I lived in the 'hood!

This is a HIDDEN GEM! The food is great and this is def our new fav spot! Service is amazing too!
