I came here to cure my hangover early on a Saturday morning. When I walked in it was pretty dead, there was only one other table. Service was great. From the time I sat down to the time my food came out it was maybe 10 minutes. I ordered the pho and the broth was a little on the bland side. I also tried the egg rolls and they didn't have much flavor either. While the food did cure my hangover, I probably wouldn't come back here just because I prefer a bit more flavor in my pho broth.

We've only been once and have only tried two dishes. That said, the bun cha clearly deserves 5 stars. It's exactly the flavors and textures of when we had it in Hanoi. The meats were grilled with a perfect char, with the meat Pattie's and pork belly doing a heavenly backstroke in a bowl of nouc mam accompanied by pickled carrots and daikon. It's served with the vermicelli noodles and huge plate of greens and herbs on the side. You pretty much construct each bite as you go, dipping it bite by bite into the nouc mam. Each bite, depending on what herbs you chose for that mouthful, brings a different goodness. Man, I want to go back NOW. If you want a legit taste of Hanoi without the 16hr flight and expense, go to Hanoi Quan. It's legit.

After watched few episodes of food venture videos on TV, I wanted to try something new. I decided to try Hanoi Quan. I remember this place used to be Pho Sapa. It moved sometime last year and this restaurant popped in quickly. When I walked in, there was an unusual chemical smell. As I sat in there longer, it gradually smelled like herbs. Majority of menu was covered with pho and how to order. But I wanted something unusual. I was looking at the menu picture and one looked interesting. I asked if that was beef stew. Waiter said, "that was Obama's favorite..." I didn't have time to ask for clarification. I said, "sure!"This was assembly required. The bowl contained pork meatballs, grilled meat (I believe it's pork) and soaked in sweet fish sauce. Overall dining experience was really memorable. I would return to try other dishes. P.S. There was a hint of MSG effects but it was from the grilling and fish sauce. I'm sensitive to MSG. After I read a review, I was paying extra attention afterwards. Luckily, everything was fine.

My husband woke up craving bun cha Hanoi so of course, I made it my duty to get some bc I take food cravings very seriously. This sounds like a simple request but it is not. Bun cha Hanoi is a Northern dish and Houston's Vietnamese community are predominantly Southern (my family included) hence our food reflects that. I've tried it at some places and it's always been...passable to me. Good but not great.Imagine my surprise when I found Quan Hanoi, who specializes in this dish. I took a chance and placed a to-go order for 2 bun cha Hanoi and eggrolls.It. Was. Fantastic. You can taste the char on the cha, the flavor was on point and delicious. Loads of veggies. I asked for extra nuoc mam and they gave me like, half a to go container of it. They even pack garlic and chili separately, to be added to your nuoc mam preference. My husband was giddy with joy. He misses his grandma's version and couldn't stop saying how good this was (and thus interrupting my detective show but I was still happy to see him so happy). The eggrolls are different from the usual ones (the person who took my order warned me ahead of time). They are not rolls, but squares. They are not wrapped with the usual rice paper or egg roll wrapper but with what seems to be tofu skin. Don't sleep on these, get it! They are delicious too. Anyway, this was a wonderful lunch to help with our Sunday hangover. I now have a go-to place if this craving comes back

After the semi-recent departure of Pho Sapa, I was curious what would take over this space. And to my delight it is another pho spot, now known as Pho Hanoi Quan. Northern Vietnamese fare is always going to be readily less available than their southern counterparts so in some sense, the opening couldn't have come at a better time. The interior is updated and looks super modern. I think they did a very good job with the renovation. They are popular enough to where there is a crowd almost every night of the week. I haven't had to wait long for a table during the weekend, which has been nice. I will say how right the service needs a lot of work. They're a little slow, sometimes forgetful, but that is the nature of growing pains. Speaking Vietnamese is not a prerequisite but certainly helpful. In other news, I can't get over this strange chemical odor each time I sit near the window. I'm not sure if it's cleaning agent or bleachers or whatever but it's strong enough to drown out some of the pho aroma. As previously noted, they specialize in northern Vietnamese fare. They serve classic dishes like bun cha, cha ca, etc. This is where they excel and I would tell most folks to at least consider the bun cha hanoi. It's not the most hearty dish, but it's one of the best things they have and comes out very quick. While their pho plays second fiddle to the bun dishes, it's halfway decent overall. The broth is extra fatty and aromatic, which for many folks is a big draw. The nuoc beo is fire and is the perfect tableside condiment. I'm overall very satisfied with the cuts of meat, the portions, and the prices. Overall, I think the place has potential and I hope they live up to it. (#2) As always, the western golden rule of Asian dining applies here: come for the food, beware of the service.___________(#1) Which is not in abundance. (#2) So much pho, so little time.

My mom is from this region, and the food, including the Pho, has a slightly different flavor. Despite the negative reviews I found the food to be quite good. The price also isn't out of line, I'm not sure if someone just forgot that it's 2023.

Love the bun cha here! Service is quick and they have a nice menu at a reasonable price. The bun cha comes with a lot of meat and fresh herbs and veggies. Love how flavorful the dish is. Comparable to the places I've been to that serve bun cha in California!

This place truly exceeded our expectations! The Vietnamese egg rolls were not only beautifully presented but also packed with flavor. The pork spring rolls were simply amazing, bursting with deliciousness in every bite. The kids portion pho was just perfect for a satisfying lunch. Plus, the manager surprised us with a complimentary fried banana, which was a delightful treat. And let's not forget about the Vietnamese coffee - it definitely packed a punch and left us wanting more. A fantastic dining experience all around!

My friends and I decided to explore northern Vietnamese cuisine, which is quite rare to find. Excited to try something new, I ordered the đặc sản bún chả hà nội. Unfortunately, the experience fell short of expectations. The bún was undercooked and overly chewy, detracting from the dish's overall enjoyment. Despite my friends' reassurance that it was somewhat authentic (about 70%), we collectively rated it a 5 out of 10. Personally, I rated it 3/5 on Yelp, but in hindsight, it's more of a 2.5. While the ambiance was really nice and the staff were pleasant, it's not a place I'd recommend or consider returning to.
