Hai Nam BBQ Fast Food

This is one of the best places in Houston to go for authentic and tasty Cantonese BBQ! Some of my favorite dishes from here are the roast duck, roast pork, and BBQ pork. I've also tried their special tea and some other rotating dishes, all of which have been amazing! The meat is always packed with yummy flavors, and I'd recommend any of them. You can get each meat as part of meals or just the meat by itself, sliced or uncut. This makes it easy to get just the right amount of meat you need. If you don't come to the area often, it can also be nice to get the meat whole and then put it in your freezer to help when you need a quick and satisfying meal!On this occasion, I chose to get their Hainanese chicken plate which comes with their special rice, pickled vegetables, and fish sauce. Everything tasted great! The rice that accompanies this dish is made extra yummy by being cooked with chicken broth/seasonings, the pickled vegetables added a nice tang and freshness, and the chicken was perfectly juicy and super flavorful. I'd definitely recommend trying this dish!The family that owns this restaurant is really sweet and helpful! It's located in a small plaza at the corner of a busy intersection, so be careful not to miss it. I've never had to wait long for parking. Also, if you're set on getting a specific kind of BBQ or buying in bulk, I'd suggest calling ahead because sometimes they sell out early!

Hands down for the best value and tastiest Roasted Pork Rice Plate in town! Since I'm a HUGEEE fan or roasted pork, I'm always loyal to this one and only one dish from this place. :P Regardless of which part of the meats you get, their roasted pork is always soft, moist, and still crispy on the skin! I also love the variety of their vegetable options to add on your plate. My friends also love their BBQ char-siu pork & Hainan chickens. They have different rice plate options that you may combine different type of meats. Each rice plate comes with a small bowl of soup. Prices are very affordable between $8-$9 for the rice plates. They also sell the BBQ meats by pound for takeout & have different options for family meals (com phan gia dinh) starting at $20 for 2 people. This place has been one of my most favorites for a few years now. They're like my family now every time I stop by for a quick & delicious lunch. The only down side which may be inconvenient for some people is that they take cash only.

I had heard about this place from a friend's Facebook post and decided to give it a try! Located in Alief in a non-descript shopping strip it seems like this is a family owned business. As I walked in I noticed a bunch of ladies packaging up mooncakes that appeared to have been made on site. I asked if they had lunch specials and one of the ladies said yes and handed us a couple of menus and pointed to a table. I had heard about the BBQ pork so I ordered that with rice and green beans. Prior to that they bring you out a spinach soup with a pork broth that was to die for! When the entree came out it was enough to feed two! They are very generous with their portion sizes. And lunch specials run under $8! Well let me tell you the BBQ pork was outstanding! Tender fresh and cooked just right! They serve it with some kind of dipping sauce that complemented it well! All in all I was very impressed with this place. They also sell roast pork and duck as well as many other food choices. But I guess their specialty is BBQ pork. I can see why! Check it out! You won't be disappointed.

Excellent food at an excellent price. I think I gained 5 pounds good. This is our new hot spot highly recommend.

Since I moved to Houston almost 20 years ago, I've been searching for a source for Char Siu. Almost all of the Chinese restaurants here are Mandarin or Sichuan style, and do not serve Char Siu (BBQ roast pork) as a standalone entree. Cantonese restaurants do offer the item. The only place I ever found which did is the lamentedly late Hong Kong Diner in Bellaire.Hai Nam is fairly close to my base of operations, and after reading the other reviews I figured I'd try to satisfy my Char Siu cravings. Went there yesterday, and ordered a pound of BBQ pork. Others have pointed out that they're cash only, and that hasn't changed. They filled up a styrofoam lunch plate with Char Siu, and I was on my way.Boy, was that good! Their meat is very tender, moist and flavorful. You can eat it cold (which I did as a snack this morning). It reminds me of a restaurant my dad used to buy from when I grew up in Los Angeles, and brought back some great memories.I did not try any plates, or their regular roast pork, or their BBQ duck. I'd imagine that it is probably good (although I'm not a duck fan). I will come back next time I have a jones for BBQ pork, for sure.

I bought Ga Ac Tiem Thuoc Bac (chicken stew with herbs) and it was my bad decision. The soup is very salty and has no smell of herbs; the chicken also. I wanted to vomit when eating; then I had to throw everything away. It's not worth $11.95. In addition, this place is inconvenient because they only accept cash. Never come back to this place

My first time here at this restaurant.My first impression when I first walked in is the restaurant is kinda small but the waitress is so sincere and takes her time to introduce the manu.Food came out faster than I expected and most importantly the food is sooooo good and very reasonable price.I will definitely come back with friends to try out different dishes

Came back to complain and buy 1/2 pound of roasted pork. They apologized and gave better service with everyone there.

Quite literally my favorite BBQ spot in Houston the best hidden gem spot I've ever found!! the owner treats you like family and makes sure to take care of every need!! The soups are a real stunner but the bbq pork and roasted pork steak the show!!! A must try

I bought roasted pork and they gave me a box full of just fat. No meat, just fat. It was pretty much inedible.
