Let's be honest, not much beats southern comfort cooking and Filipps does just that. Having grown up on their food I know it's all damn good. The fried seafood is really where it's at. Whatever you order, make sure to get a side of ranch because it's so good. Service is usually friendly and quick, bathrooms are clean and most nights there's a parking spot available.

It's the small town restaurant in Danbury been going here for years. Basically, southern home cooking as the genre. My kids feel it's the best fried okra.

We love doing to our local community restaurants! My favorite dish there is the Texas salad! Seriously crave it all the time! My husband loves the fried shrimp and his grand parents come all the way from Sweeny just to eat the shrimp also! They are perfectly prepared!

The food that I had was pretty good. I had the stuffed shrimp. They were pretty okay(prefer pappadeauxs). The pinto beans taste like they come out of a can but they taste like they added bacon grease to give it a better flavor. The fried okra is good and crunchy but is a little bland. The hush puppies tasted ok just a little too dry for me. I would definitely go back. Have to try the dessert to let me know if will be one my permanent spots.

Sorry to say guys this wasn't the best visit. The food was good but service was seriously lacking this time. Server was very dismissive and was quite short with us. She got quite a few things wrong with our tables order and then I guess she left the restaurant after delivering our food and no one came back to check up on us. Refills were offered only once, sandwich was soggy and cold, etc etc. As a service industry worker, I'm pretty aware of the climate we're in right now and I get it but a bit more effort. Dropping almost $200 on a meal and cash tip you would hope for better. I'm hoping the servers that stayed on shift get more of a percentage of the tip left. She doesn't deserve it. ‍

Took our mom here for her birthday. Always had good food and service here before with the exception of the salads. Old, bagged salad with chunks of iceberg lettuce and one cherry tomato? Please!Until my plate arrived and I discovered a cockroach leg on my plate. Never again!! Too bad because the fried shrimp and seafood is usually great.

The food was top notch and the service was awesome. We were quickly seated and brought drinks for our party of 5 Food was brought to us quickly We ate shrimp 5 ways ( so good) and granddaughter had hamburger that was melt in your mouth delicious. We took out of town guests and we all had leftovers to go home with. This is our go to dinner place and we love the homely atmosphere.

This hidden gem is hidden in Danbury and been serving great food for years! Took my family for Father's Day lunch and it was packed. They were hustling getting orders and food out quickly. Good home cooked meals in a small town atmosphere.

Oh man. This place is a hidden gem. Me and the hubby went for Saturday night date night. I got the Redfish Special and he got the steak. Both were spectacular. His steak was the size of the plate almost, and the flavor was on point. My Redfish was decadent with a creamy sauce on top. I only ate half to save room for the amazing peach cobbler. My husband had the chocolate cake. A little rich but fantastic. This is a walk into Grandma's kitchen. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed. Also, the staff was pleasant and attentive. A great 1st time experience.

When I tell you it's worth the drive to get your seafood from Filipp's, I mean it. No matter where I've lived in my lifetime, every time I come down to our family bayhouse, I go to Filipp's. I have eaten here since my childhood, and can say without a doubt that they have the best shrimp and comfort food. You just feel at home. I was the recent winner of their shrimp dinner, and what I got far exceeded my expectations. Our family feasted at our annual 4th of July celebration. The staff even helped us carry it all to the car. Speaking of the staff, you will always get service that makes you feel like family. Love this sweet little restaurant in Danbury.
