Ok I've driven by this place dozens of times threatening to drop in for dinner but was hesitant because of the rating. Ok the day finally came and I now regret passing this place up so many times. What's not to love? The food, drinks and atmosphere is perfect for casual dining. The environment is slightly upscale casual with a huge whisky bar centrally located. Yes, this my first visit, but there were no misses for me. I had a mezcal old fashioned that was perfectly balanced with tequila and bitters. My meal was a half portion of meatloaf with Brussel sprouts instead of the mashed potatoes. This was more than enough food for dinner. The sprouts were great without being sweet. Perhaps this experience was an anomaly but it far exceeded my expectations. Great job!

Update: Sat at the bar tonight after a long exhausting day and was starving. The service was really great which was a substantial change from past visits. (Thanks Raul!) Started out with bang bang shrimp. The sauce is so good- like a Thai chili sweet spicy sauce. Yum. Ate the entire thing. Also had a mint julep which hit. the. spot. Next round was the braised short rib which was incredible, as always.I commented on the large private room they have in the back and got a peek. This would be a great space for a private event or party. Will be back!

Made a reservation days in advance for my husbands birthday for a party of 7. I made sure to request in front of a tv so that he could enjoy the final four and the manager changed the tv to the Astros game to accommodate the 2 guests at the bar over our table of 7 that called days in advance for a fucking reservation. NEVER COMING AGAIN.

I've been a few times and really enjoy the food. We shared the fried cheeseburger eggrolls and it was a really small portion to share but so yummy. I've also tried the cheeseburger bowl which was amazing! The bartenders are very attentive and give high quality service. They have a smoked old fashioned that my friend says is one of the best she's had. Great atmosphere, fun signs by the restrooms, great food and service!

Our first visit here was wonderful! We had the Tortilla Soup, Chicken Fried Chicken, Braised Short Rib and bread pudding for dessert.Everything was delicious. Our waitress, Ana was very attentive and friendly. We plan on going back soon and trying their breakfast. I would highly recommend going to try it out.

Federal American Grill has become a favorite of mine, even though this location has some quirks. It's a relatively new restaurant, and it is put together quite handsomely. If you have time, make sure to visit the restroom for a chuckle. The dining room is usually quite dark and the perfect ambiance for date night. We were seated immediately, and we usually are when we have reservations like on this particular evening. Our server was Neil on this trip and he explained the specials and went off to enter our drinks and get their fabulous biscuits for the table. Things took a turn about here. Not incredibly bad, but service was a bit thin after this point. Long periods of no contact, and once we ordered our food, we waited even longer. The manager did however surprise us with a free spinach dip for the long wait (the kitchen got backed up) and made the situation much better as we were starving (which is why it's half eaten in the picture lol). My meatloaf was fantastic as usual, and my husband loved his steak. We also ordered half baked cookies to go, and they were packaged very well. I will be back as always, and I definitely encourage you to give them a try. Tip: the jelly served with the biscuits is divine with a nice kick!

Beginning at the door with Lisa, the most incredible hostess, to our server Brandon, this meal was exceptional! Fresh cornbread brought out as we sat down, followed by an appetizer of brussel sprouts, iceberg wedge salad, and fresh drinks from the expansive bar options started us off on our relaxing lunch adventure. Moving on to an entree of grilled salmon and separate dish of scallops, both on a bed or risotto made this meal one for the books. Mark this on your path of food adventures!

I hate to write this review, but someone needs to pay attention to the to-go orders and quality of the meal. The only reason we placed an order to go is because we just had dinner at the Federal Grill on I-10 which was a very good meal. Since the Grand Parkway location is closer we decided to give it a try so, we ordered: meatloaf (had it at the other location) and French dip. The meatloaf had the texture of canned potted meat and the mashed potatoes had to be instant! I swear the meatloaf tasted as if it came out of a can. It was not even close to the meatloaf at the other location. The French dip didn't come with the Au jus. It was dry sliced roast beef with melted cheese on top of a limp hoagie type roll that was slightly toasted. The French fries are from frozen. If we had eaten in house, I would have sent the meal back. I am NOT that type of patron either. So disappointed.

Not sure why this place doesn't have a higher avg rating! Popped in on a Sunday evening for the 1st time and now I just came back 2 weeks later. I've passed this place tons of times somehow I thought it would be food with minimal flavor. I was wrong! The food is quite tasty! The place has a bistro type vibe... lots of high top tables in addition to regular tables, plus open kitchen & multiple TVs. Also has 2 separate eating areas off the main dining area for groups. Enjoyed the smoked old fashion which they bring to your table in a glass smoker. Here's the food I've tried on my 2 visits: Crab Cake - full of crab, minimal breadiness, nice cripiness on outside, lots of crab meat inside, nice size for $25 price point. 2nd visit got the roasted chicken which was a thigh, leg & breast. The chicken was flavorful even though I didn't get the creamy sauce that comes with it. Also, I was pleasantly surprised the breast was tender not dry at all. First visit food didn't take long. This 2nd time, the chicken took almost 30 min to arrive. The place didn't seem that crowded so not sure what happened. I asked the server was it because of the chicken but he didn't really have an answer as to why so long. I will return. I like the food & the vibe. I also want to figure out which service experience is more typical.
