Farmers and Merchants

Say "GOODBYE" to Merchants and Farmers and "Hello" to the Twisted Cow! It seems a branding change was a long time coming for the slightly soiled "Merchants and Farmers" reputation. It has clearly had its Ups and Downs and its openings and closings, since it was first brought to life by its original owner and creator, Sigurd Westerlund. The twisted cow seems to have adopted a much-improved bar food menu and a craft cocktail menu which supposedly incorporates locally sourced ingredients. Perhaps they come to the realization the competition down the street has been knocking it out of the park with their own craft cocktails for months, and doing so without breaking the customers bank? Of course, I would expect to pay exorbitant prices for a drink in Manhattan, but surely NOT in Wendell. A burger and fries for under 15 bucks, not a bad deal, if only it would come out as ordered. But even if the twisted cow was an upscale bar, those cocktail prices are still too high for Wendell NC. Two doors down I can get equal or better within a reasonable price range. Cheers!

I've read every review on here about Farmers and Merchants, so I had a little background intel! I was with a party of 4; two of which we're already there waiting at the bar for us. We ordered drinks and the bartender was knowledgeable about what sour beers they had. They had Sour Monkey; one of my all time favorites of sours! Excellent choice! We ordered food at the bar which ranged from salads to burgers to a spicy chicken sandwich, which I was excited to taste. Nobody complained about their food and my sandwich was really, really good! Other than that, there were some service hiccups that Ill take a star off for, but overall my experience was pretty darn good.

We went there on flatbread Saturday and although Gorgonzola flatbread was out, the chicken flatbread was fantastic! I also tried to order beer and they didn't have it so I have to take one star off but aside of frequent out of food/beverage it was fantastic. The staff was attentive and overall atmosphere was cozy comfortable. I'm assuming I should come back again during weekdays instead of weekends

Happy to see Farmers and Merchants reopen! Daily special today was tacos and margarita for $12. We had the brisket and fish tacos, both were delicious. Tacos came with queso with corn, guacamole that we ordered be placed on the side, and chips. You have your option of margaritas, we started with a classic and then tried the pineapple and blueberry flavors. All very good. This is a cute restaurant with exposed brick and large windows. Staff was attentive and helpful . Welcome back F&M!

We came here as a family of four, two little in tow. It was burger night and it wasn't too busy. I was excited to see allagash on tap as it is one of my favorite beers. They were able to get the kids a plastic to-go cup for their drinks which was greatly appreciated. Despite not being too busy, it did take a while to get the foods who b us challenging with little kids. They ended up not having enough buns so we got our burgers on Texas toast. With all that said, the food was delicious! We enjoyed the burgers on Texas toast and the burgers were juicy! We ordered a plan burger for my son and he loved it and the kids chicken tenders were moist. The fries were a hit with all of us as well. I loved their service and patience with two kids. I'd definitely come back!

The food was very good but took quite a long time considering how small the restaurant is. We had a hard time getting our server's attention and she never brought the check over to us. The bartender saw us with our credit card in hand and took it from us to go ahead and charge, without us seeing the bill first. But the absolute one thing they have to change is the unbearable chairs and stools they use. The stools are incredibly tiny (literally 12 inches wide) and the bar height chairs are very uncomfortable.

Food is ok, but a little overpriced. I suppose it's on par with other restaurants in Raleigh, but not in Wendell. Honestly I recommend going here for the liquor (really nowhere else to go in town unless you want beer/cider) and then picking up food next door at Bravos, where you can get a better deal on pizza, sandwiches and salads. They do have some weekly drink/food specials that might be worth it, and the bartenders are nice. It's much better service now than it was when it was last open.

I ordered a salad, had a ton of bacon on it, just like I like it! Nice sized house salad. Service was great, felt like I knew the girl. The ambiance is great and a little rustic but that's the ol Wendell theme I think

Love the warm and inviting environment and the menu offers such tasty and unique options. Our waitress was very helpful in recommending beers based on our tastes and the service was outstanding.

Super friendly staff and great food! The burger was hot and delicious! We will be back.
