I was trying to avoid addressing my experience here. Bec I don't like posting bad reviews. But since I checked in, it keeps putting this place in my feed for review.In summary:Nice looking establishment, clean and quaint.I walked in to pick up an online Togo order that I placed.The 2 young male waiters looked at me like I did not belong there, they didn't acknowledge me, just stood by at the computer stand across from the bar.I walk up and explained that I'm here to pick up an online order. They say that the person that does online isn't there so no one prepared the food. I just got off work, drove there, parked, walked in, I was tired and wanted some quality food. I just asked the bar tender to cancel the order and left.I expected a better experience for such a nice restaurant.*They can improve on their online order process and greeting customers upon entrance, to be helpful and make us feel welcomed.

I went here for lunch and Jason was extremely helpful. He made great recommendations but we got full really quick off the oysters, crab fingers and garlic bread. We ordered the crab fingers sautéed and the sauce served with it was amazing. Jason also made a really great sidecar. This place can be pricey. Definitely planning to go back for the happy hour. They have valet and street parking.

This cute spot in River Oaks was a nice surprise. I have never been and it was nestled in a neighborhood. They only have valet parking, but that was not a problem. Service started of VERY slow, but our waiter was very helpful. I love the fact that they make their Old fashion with Tequila. I am a Tequila girl. The oysters were huge and well cleaned. First time here and was not impressed. Hate to even put a three but it was pretty bland especially the red beans rice and sausage. Catfish was a bit too fishy to me and I couldn't finish it. The crab fingers sautéed were great though! And my drink was alright. Oh and the garlic bread was super good!Otherwise it was comfortable inside, they had very clean nice looking bathrooms. Our server was great as well.Again could've been an off night in the kitchen or just not for my taste.

Eugene's is usually a reliable choice, located near the man's place and offering good food and service. We've visited a few times and generally had positive experiences. However, my recent solo visit was disappointing. I took a seat at the bar, not properly dressed, and ordered a margarita and extra-hot seafood gumbo to start. The gumbo was lukewarm, but that wasn't the main issue. I found shells in my gumbo multiple times, which was unpleasant. It's the little details like this that can ruin a dining experience. The margarita was strong, almost to the point of being undrinkable. The crab fingers and fries were tasty, and I enjoyed their tartar sauce. Service was mixed - I was charged for someone else's bill, but the bartender quickly corrected the error. Overall, the experience was underwhelming. I hope Eugene's can get back to the quality that earned them a 4-star rating.

Heard great things about this place and finally had the chance to check it out with a group of friends. Definitely a gem in Montrose and worth it. The staff was extremely friendly and personable, while being super attentive to the table. We had the crab fingers and oysters Montrose for appetizers, very good and lots of flavor. My entree was the pecan crusted red snapper in a lemon capers sauce. Very good. Then for dessert, a white chocolate martini, perfect end to the night. This place is definitely somewhere we'd come back to to try other dishes because everything we had was great! Can't wait to come back!

Gumbo was outstanding. Redfish was wonderful, and stuffed shrimp amazing, although a tad bit heavy on the breading. Red beans and rice had -0- taste. Would I go back? Yes.
