El Rodeo Mexican Resturant

Did a call in take out order of a kids combo the asked which side I said rice they gave me the total and said 15 minutes get to the restaurant about 20 minutes later and took them 30 minutes to find the order then found out it didn't come with a side so had to pay more for it. Very slow in there and seems very unorganized and does not know the menu.

Overpriced now. Server was rude. Spinach overcooked with a funny taste. What used to be five stars is now a choice only if I don't want to drive too far into Durham.

I tried to call to make a order and i was left on hold for 22 minutes . That's ridiculous ! When i walked into the restaurant i was told "oh we forgot about the phone" . No apology , no compensation. Finally placed my order and was charged 50cent for to go . Who charges for to go orders. Do better El Rodeo

The first time I visited I got the enchiladas poblanos. I've had them many times at the Brightleaf location and loved it so figured it would be as good here. Unfortunately it didn't have the same richness, depth, or spice to it, and there was only shredded chicken in the enchilada that was somewhat dry, no sauteed onions or peppers added to it. Overall it was disappointing.On my second visit at lunch I had a half portion deep fried chicken Chimichanga. Like the enchiladas, only shredded chicken in it that again was somewhat dry. No sauteed onions and green peppers added in it. The rice was very fluffy and tasty. The salsa is mild and the chips this time were warm.So my general take so far is that while the presentation looks delicious chicken inside tortillas is dry and not enhanced with any spices &/or sauteed vegetables so flavor is bland. I haven't been to the Brightleaf location in years so maybe that's how they make it there now too.In my two visits the staff has been inconsistent. The first time not so friendly and the second time a different waitress was very nice and attentive. I wish I could give five stars, but even three would be a stretch. I'll give it one more try and hope to have a better experience.

I patronized this establishment a few years ago and after eating from their silverware, immediately felt sick. Went to the doctor the next day and found out I had strep throat. Fast forward to current times (COVID), I patronized with a takeout order. I gave them my credit card (a prepaid card so not connected to a specific bank) and my total was $16.67. I did not leave a tip on the order. Upon checking my card transactions today, there was a total charge of $20.00!! Grant it that it's only $3 bucks....I DID NOT AUTHORIZE IT!! Once I addressed it with the management, they said, oh well we found the receipt and no one took anything even though I kept explaining that my card was debited a total of $20. BEWARE OF THIS ESTABLISHMENT FOR THEIR NASTY SANITATION AND CROOKED AND SNEAKY PRACTICES WITH PEOPLE'S MONEY!!! I WILL NEVER GIVE THEM ANOTHER CHANCE TO DO ME WRONG EVER AGAIN!!

This is a great quick Mexican restaurant that we love to meet friends nearby at. During COVID times they have every other booth closed off, but it has never been so crowded that we need to wait for a table. I enjoy having the opportunity to choose from several meals off the vegetarian section of the menu. Most recently, after our vegan journey, I opted to get the veggie burrito minus the cheese and they executed perfectly! The portions are super great and the prices are even better! Love grabbing a margarita and some queso as well. They'll also do take-out margaritas in any flavor you want! Love our local Mexican place here!

I gave up on El rodeo years ago, but thought I would give a different location a try. I was so wrong. I placed a $47 dollar order, and when I get home they have forgotten to put the cheese dip in the bag. Then I warm up the steak quesadillas, and aside from the fact that they were chintzy with the steak, it didn't have any flavor. The cheese did not taste like queso, and the steak was not seasoned, and overall it had a weird texture to it. I called and asked if they could refund price of the cheese dip back onto my card and they told me I would have to come back to the restaurant. They can keep the $4.99 and their cheese dip. The food was high priced, flavorless and awful. I will never darken their doorstep again and I suggest that you don't either.

I am a regular there and I have a family of four. This is our GO TO spot! However, we just ordered pickup and I ordered an extra small salsa to go with the two bags of chips that came with our meal. I paid an additional charge for the salsa. When I got home, I noticed the one I paid for was not there. I called them and asked if I could come pick it up the following day as they closed in 15 minutes and I did not want to further inconvenience anyone...even though the items I paid for were not in my bag. I asked when I pick it up the following day that an additional bag of chips could also be provided and I was told no. I was told I can come get a plain salsa or get my money back. I am not sure if they expected me to drink the salsa that they left off because the food was eaten the night before. I sure didn't want to save my food for the next day just to have it with the salsa you forgot. So now after spending over $75 here just this week alone, I have to travel back to the restaurant to be refunded a measly $1. I cannot respect a business that does not care about their customers time. I am sure the time and gas spent to get back and forth to the restaurant is worth way more than that small bag of chips. I did not ask for my order to be replaced, I just asked for some chips to go with the salsa that YOU all forgot. Customers lost. I will never return after I get this $1 back.

Great place food and service! Highly recommend good atmosphere easy to have conversation.

We decor and great service are two of the reasons we love El Rodeo! The food is always great and the margarita is perfect!
