El Matador

Came around 11pm with a group of about 8 people. They play Latin music and people were dancing salsa and bachata in the middle of the restaurant so it's pretty cool if that's your vibe. I ordered a frozen strawberry margarita and honestly I didn't taste any liquor at all. The waiter said they used Don Julio but I really and truly could not taste any alcohol. I will say one of the girls in our group ordered the same and said her drink was pretty strong so maybe it depends on your tolerance. Something to note is that they don't serve water in tap. If you want water, you have to buy it in the bottle form. I wasn't very hungry so I ordered a small beef Quesadilla. It was kind of warm when it came out and honestly very salty so I couldn't enjoy it. Luckily they were nice enough to let me change it out for a chicken quesadilla which I found to be much better. I will add that some of the waiters don't speak the best English so communication was a tad bit challenging but overall for a late night spot I guess it was okay.

I was in the area visiting a friend and we decided to grab food. We were going to take it to go but the place was empty and decided to stay and eat on the patio. They got an extra star because they do require masks upon arrival and hand sanitizer is readily available as soon as guests walk in. Customer service - our waitress was very attentive (I guess because we were the only patrons at the time) and seemed very nice. Food - I ordered the Botana Mixta and my friend ordered the fajita special. My entree was pretty much a sampler of their nachos, empanadas, quesadillas and something else I couldn't recognize but was still delicious. Their food wasn't the best I've had from a local business but it did what it could for a last minute stop (my friend wanted to waste his time to go to Pappasitos and I wasn't for it #SupportLocalBusinesses). I did like their empanadas though, especially the beef empanada. My friend did not enjoy his beef fajitas complaining that they were a bit salty. It must be somewhat a popular place because people were slowly coming in to partake in their Karaoke night. We left ASAP because COVID-19 is real.

Great place for dancing and maybe late night snacks/ drinks. But bottled ozarkas are not allowed from outside . They won't let me take my ozarka in. I guess that takes away 1 star. I haven't had restaurants deny me water I brought in before. I'll get less food/ stuff from them since some of the funds will be going to water bottles. The blue Hawaiian is good and sweet (sugar water + a splash of Rum) It is good since I don't like strong alcoholic drinks. Prefer the diluted sugary drinks. 5 stars for the music by DJ Salsa Eddy and dancing (+good company of girlfriends). 1 star for food and drinks thats a little pricey for this area. My friends said they give 2 stars overall...so I think the 3 is pretty generous. (Averaged it with the great DJ that beings people in). Thats maybe why it's been so many years since I've been back.Update: at my second order I tried to order another $15 Blue Hawaiian and a glass of iced water. The second bartender wouldn't give me a glass of iced water with my drink order...so unfortunately...I ended up not getting the alcohol and just got the $4 water and a $1 tip. I guess that saved me the $30-something I was gonna end up using because they are not gonna give me a cup of ice and water. CUSTOMERS BEWARE: They already pre-charge a 15% tip added onto your bill. I did notice it at the first drink order (and tipped additional b/c the first bartender DID give me a cup of ice and water along with my blue sugar water). Second girl probably didn't even deserve the tip for the $4 Nestle water since I originallyI wanted the blue sugar drink + a cup of H20...I'll chug my 32-count ozarka for $5 from Costco when I get home...they can't even offer Ozarka here!? Its Nestle Pure Life for 4-5$...not even spring water. No, I'm not a water snob asking for Fiji or Voss like other bars with these prices in drinks...

Two stars because the music was good. The DJ was great and there was a band there playing pretty good cumbias, etc. The issue was the waitress was really rude. I know she's been working there for a long time because I have seen her over the years, but she was a terrible waitress. I ordered a frozen margarita and she brought me a really watery and overall crappy drink. I waited 20 minutes for her to finally come back when she saw my friends got to the table. I told her the drink wasn't frozen and at the point it was completely melted. She got upset and said that we had the drink for a while & that's why it melted. I told her a huge margarita cup doesn't thaw in 20 minutes.. I told her to bring me a new one that was actually frozen or to just cancel it since I didn't take but one sip. She just took the drink since she said that it would be the same. My friend ordered a strawberry margarita and hers was actually completely frozen so I was upset she couldn't just get me that. Then when it came time for the check, instead of asking if it was all together she just brings one tab. Obviously there was 3 couples at my table, and when we asked for her to split the tab she rolled her eyes and walked off! Seriously considered not tipping her, but my brother paid for my water & my husband's drinks since it was my husband's birthday. Needless to say, we were all unsatisfied with her service.

They finally clean up this place!! I no longer see 5yo puke everywhere!!! Music is still good

So it was my first time here and they do play music good and it's a fun environment but there are things they don't tell you. I ordered the hookah and when I asked for them to change the carbon, they didn't let me know they charge additional $2.00 for it to be replaced which I find it out weird because most places don't do that and if so, they would let you know.The receipt / menu states they only charge 15% gratuity on your check if there is 6 people or more at your table. The lady still charged me gratuity and because of that, my partner saw the other check and still gave her more for tip.I wish this place would of been better to explain some things since it was my first time and also another table told me they included things they did not order on their tab. so please warning read carefully!

Service was horrible. We payed to put specific music in the restaurant and even left tip. They didn't put music after 1hour even after we kept asking about it. They came back rudely and slammed the money back on the table and left without saying anything.

Family and I came. Waitress had already self tipped and didn't inform. I'm H-E-B stood waiting for additional tip. Ladies at the front laugh in your face and look at each other like they're stupid. So ignorant. You ask for water to drink and they bring you bottles. Don't tell you they charge $4 a bottle. Food tax. Drink tax. If you leave deposit they don't take off final bill. Great place to dance. Enjoyable food. Workers are just shitty

Food was bland. Waited a looooong time when we were only 2-3 folks in the restaurant. The waitress charged for me an item I told her was cold. And had to wait for the "hot"meal to come out. Didn't bother to take a discount, free desert, something. WILL NEVER RETURN! Periodt

We came with a group of 10 or so around 5:30 on a Friday. The place was empty. We ordered our drinks then ordered appetizers of guacamole and nachos. We waited a long time for a long time and finally the dinners cane out but no appetizers. When I asked about them they said the appetizers would come right out at which time I said we don't want them anymore. When they were bringing out the dinners they told one of our guests that they were out of his entree. They waited until all of the other dinners were coming out before letting us know they were out of that entree. The food was not bad but service was horrible.
