Came here on a Sunday afternoon and it was very empty with just one or two booths occupied. They're known for jerk chicken, but there were specials for the day, and that day it was BBQ chicken which we got, and came with beans, cornbread, and rice and the portion was huge so we split just one meal between two of us and we barely finished, all for about $10! The chicken was super juicy and full of flavor, both over the skin with the sauce, as well as in the meat. Ambiance wasn't the best since it was so empty, there was a homeless guy who came in, but the staff was nice and helpful and I did not feel unsafe. Definitely worth the price and probably my one recommendations for anyone else visiting Atlanta.

Unbelievably delicious! Hands down the best chicken I've had. I have this as a must stop when I'm in town. The sides also never disappoint. Very reasonably priced and perfect sized portions.

Classic NOT Classy Atlanta. The food is as good as Mary Mac's or Colonnade. The ambiance is as good as Burger King.

The one place I know I'm going to go when I'm in town is Eats! The traditional soul food that is always perfectly made with the ambiance of an old school diner. Staff are great! Parking and general traffic is the only down side as there is just so much development taking place in the area. It's also priced in a way that makes a meal affordable to the "average" person. I hope this place stays put a long time!

Seriously disappointed with this spot. The jerk chicken was a total miss - dry rub instead of the authentic Jamaican jerk flavor I was craving. Rice and beans were bland and boring, and the mac and cheese was just meh. Save yourself the trouble and skip this place.

Eats is such a gem. I'm so glad that they are still surviving despite everything going up around it. The food is simple, affordable, and straightforward you just have to know what to get. My favorite is the Lemon Pepper Chicken. You get a 1/2 chicken well seasoned for less than $7. I normally order that with the mashed potatoes and gravy and a side salad. They used to offer meals but now everything is a La carte. Which is still reasonable priced. Sides are about $3. They also offer pastas like lasagna, spaghetti and ziti. The black beans and rice have no flavor. Neither does the Mac and cheese.Service is minimal. There are no waiters you place your order at the counter and choose from whatever seats are available and once your order is ready you pick it up at the counter. There are guys that come by and clear the tables after customers eat. It's super low key nothing fancy, family and kid friendly. No reservations whole in the wall vibes, but nonetheless a true classic. If you're looking for good food at a great price you can't go wrong with Eats

STUNNED........AVOID!!.........After coming here consistently for 20 plus years I just experienced something that stunned me and may make me never want to come here again!! There is a new mural on the outside and new merchant machine; Iced Tea glasses are half the size they normally are but those a ok changes. Today, after ordering and tipping 25%, as I usually do, the tall, guy who wears a stocking hat normally is always very nice and friendly. Today he just ignored me and my order. Four people behind me in line, received their orders and were seated and eating, while I was still awaiting my simple order. Typically when I order,I take 3 steps to the left and my food is usually waiting before I can put my wallet back in my pocket.I approached the slow moving tall guy who has been there for a long time. I mentioned the name on my order and he looked at me and said "Nobody works here by that name". and went back to completing the to go order of someone who ordered after me. I spoke up and said my order under James . I told him bunch of people behind me already received their orders. He just said "hold on brother, it's coming". I Waited and he continued to ignore me. I Requested a refund and was on my way out. The lady at the register didn't even bother to ask the talk man about my order or inquire about it on my behalf and just said ok her is your refund, sorry. Stunned I walked out wondering what the hell happened to my favorite place on Ponce. This is kinda weird but I felt like I had been disowned by my family. Not sure what happened but things seem different. Certainly the attitude of this one tall guy has changed. It's a shame. I have probably tipped him collectively over $500 since I usually tip a flat $5 on top of my order. MY PREVIOUS review which is NOT accurate any longer is below . Faster than fast food!!! Atlanta institution! This restaurant has been around for decades and doesn't disappoint. 90% of the time this food comes out quicker than at McDonald's. The thing I really like about eats menu is its basic and it comes out so fast that I didn't even finish paying before it was plated. It's great for a quick bite or the linger. The jerk chicken is to die for the lasagna is super awesome. It's super clean staff is friendly and courteous. I highly recommend this restaurant. Oh and it's quite reasonable!!
