I've lived about two blocks away from Duke's for four years and I literally walked by it every single day when walking my dogs. I cannot believe that it took me this long to try them. I could have been eating some of the best chopped cheese and burgers in the city all along! I finally stopped by a few days ago and WOW! An easy entry into my top 5 of best burgers in Denver. The black angus beef was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The TOASTED challah bun was pillowy and perfect vehicle for the beef, homemade sauce, and American cheese. I feel like every post I say the same thing but 10/10!MY ORDER: Five Points Smashed Burger with raw onion and lettuce BEST BITE: the best bite was actually every bite that I took of this burger. It was perfect! I was not demure, mindful, or cutesy since I devoured it!

We were in the Five Points district and needed to grab an early dinner so we found Duke's. A great venue that offers a variety of sandwiches and other goodies. You order at the counter and there are plenty of picnic style tables to enjoy your food. Service was very quick and the food was prepared to ordered.Prices are affordable. Also, for parking there is plenty of street parking or in the lot near the back.

Not only is the food and baked goods EXCELLENT but the husband and wife team that own Dukes are everything you want a local business to be: passionate, friendly, and clearly invested in the neighborhood. So much care is put into the food, atmosphere, and overall experience, it's a must go!

I went to Duke's with a couple of friends back in February 2024 - finally able to leave a review. We were excited since all the reviews were great, but after an expensive ticket and unsatisfactory customer service from the cashier, I was deterred from reporting to them I had spots of green mold on the ends and the bottom of the hoagie roll so it was just trashed. The smashburger was only decent. Wasn't the best experience. Make sure to check before consuming. 2 stars because beer wasn't bad.

I come to Denver once a year and I ensure I stop by Duke's as part of my itinerary! I always get the Chopped Cheese which is a classic go to. The bun is soft and the meat is awesome!I personally like the Smash Burger as well, and I like how they have the "Make it a Double" for only $3 more! This time around I tried their Caprese, and I'm a big fan of the pesto. Overall, very friendly staff and savory food :)

Stopped at Duke's because I saw a sign on the corner saying they had the original Denver chopped cheese sandwich. I'm a native and had no clue what this was so knew I had to try it. Ordered one chopped cheese sandwich with added giardiniera. Turns out a Denver chopped cheese is similar to a Philly. It was really good and I highly recommend getting it with the giardiniera although I wish that was just a touch hotter. It's just a small outdoor venue with great seating so would be perfect after a night out.The owner came out and talked to us and told us the story of how she and her husband were in Harlem and had a similar sandwich that was more like a deconstructed hamburger so they decided to create their own Denver version. Super sweet woman! My only complaint is that the sandwich itself is a little pricey for what you get BUT their drink menu was nicely priced. Water for $1.50? Seltzer for $4.50? You can't find that anywhere. Definitely going to stop back and get another chopped beef and maybe try a different sandwich as well.

We we're walking around Five Points in Denver looking for a place to grab lunch. Came across this sign and decided to give it a go. It was great! My wife and I split a smash burger & chopped cheese. Both were tasty and enough to fill us up! Those two sandwiches & two beers were $42, after tip. Outside dining at picnic tables and it was a nice day.We would definitely go back.

Dukes Good Sandwiches came across my social media feed and promised a good smash burger. It is in the rear end of the five points plaza, making it a nice somewhat hidden spot for a bite to eat with family or potentially after you've had a few cold ones from a brewery nearby. The ambience is nice, outside, and they even have a game of Cornhole waiting for anyone brave enough to challenge a stranger to a brief match while waiting for the burger/sandwich to be ready.I personally ordered a double burger but even the regular burger my wife orders was of a decent size. The meat was nice and browned as a good smash burger should be. ButThere wasn't much flavor to the burger itself, it seemed to lack a decent amount of salt. To top it off it seems that Denver's economy has hit this establishment as well as we paid $17 for just the burger ($14 + $3 for a double) which did not include any sides. Total for just burgers and a 12oz can of Coke came out to around $50 including tip. They charge only $1.75 for a bag of chips but for $17 I would expect it to at least come with salt. All in all, it's a decent burger! Great environment for a warm Colorado day, filling for sure but for the price and the seasoning I'm giving this a solid 3 stars.

Best sandwiches in the Denver metro area by a long shot. The chopped cheese is incredible. There's also a sister store connected to Duke's that is a bakery (Scratch), make sure to check both out!
