Just opened right after St. Patty's Day. What a hit here in Pittsboro. Great addition to the many eateries we have in this small town. Excellent service from the moment you walk in to ordering your food. Two level restaurant, outdoor seating, belly- up bar, and dining area lower level. Upper level , outdoor rooftop seating, inside dining area, and also another bar. The stairway going up and down has a very sturdy handrail. Just in case you have a few too many on the roof top. My meal was delicious, both my wife and I had the Braised Brisket Melt Sandwich. Can't say enough on how good it was. Perfect to my liking and hers. If you are in Pittsboro, I would recommend this restaurant as a place to go.

Had an opportunity to dine-in, so I wanted to add to my previous review. The food was good, but the burger we ordered the first star was definitely the star of the show. Upon entering around 4:30pm on a Friday, we were asked if we had a reservation (not, "Hello, welcome in. Have you dined with us before?"). We stated that we didn't have a reservation, they informed us that they could seat us. However, they made a point to ask if we would be done by 6:00, as they had a reservation for that table at that time. We assured them that we would be done in plenty of time for the reservation, assuming our food arrived in a timely manner. After being seated, we felt somewhat rushed to place our order, but tried to be understanding. Our server was fine, not at all rude but also not especially friendly. Our food arrived quickly, and everything tasted good.Upon exiting, not a single staff member thanked us, asked how our meal or experience was, or even acknowledged us at all....even though there were 3 at the host stand directly by the door.

Good beer, good service, decent pub foodI stopped in for the first time last week to have lunch with a buddy. The atmosphere is typical American-style Irish pub: lots of dark wood paneling. The beer selection is good; you can get a proper Guinness, and they even have Harp's on tap if you fancy a black-and-tan, as I did. The menu is also good solid pub grub: lots of sandwiches, burgers, and sides. My buddy had a shepherd's pie which was made with beef, not lamb, but he said was tasty. You should probably leave your veggie friends at home as there's very little for them on the menu. The service was top-notch. Even though it was lunch-rush busy, our server (Kitty?) was friendly and efficient. I'll probably go back for a beer and an appetizer.

Makala and Nate were an awesome duo taking care of us. It was our first time at Doherty s and they made us feel welcomed and cared for. We ordered the Shepherds Pie that was loaded with a lot of meat and vegetables in a savory gravy. The pearl onions were a nice touch and great complement. it was served with HP sauce which we've never had before. Very unique flavor that complemented the dish well. I had the cider glazed salmon which was cooked to perfection. I ordered it medium and was thrilled with the temperature and texture. The flavor was extremely mild and a little salt and pepper helped some. I wish that there was more flavor but I'm not sure what was missing to be honest. I didn't really care for the flavor of the potato cake either. I didn't taste any cheddar cheese. I felt it could use an herb that would have complemented the salmon, maybe a bit of chives or dill or both. The spinach though was on point. Flavor carried the salmon and paired nicely with it. Makala recommended several dishes were quite popular and I think it's worth another try. So I would like to try again with maybe the fish and chips or brisket. Watching the food deliveries to other tables, the brisket poutine did seem to be popular. I understand the place just opened the weekend after St Patty's day so I imagine they are still working out some recipes and processes. Give some grace and keep trying. The service was definite star of the show though. Keep up the warm smiles and caring attitude!Outdoor seating looked fun but saw rain moving in so we didn't want to risk it. Maybe on our second visit! Well done.

A nice addition to the Pittsboro food scene. Good dark wood ambiance you would expect in an Irish pub. Friendly staff and pretty fast service even-though they were almost packed.I sat at the bar and had a decent IPA. Wish they had more craft beer but hey it's an Irish pub, what do you expect. They do have one red ale on tap that the brewery next door makes for them. I had the Boxty sampler that has their three potato pancakes with different fillings. Mullingar with brisket, Killarney with chicken and the Donegal with mushrooms. Surprisingly I think I liked the the vegetarian one the best, but all had interesting and unique flavors. I'll be back to try some of their other menu items. Wish I could give them a 3.5 so I have a 3 not a 4.

First time there and have to be kind as they just opened a few weeks back. Excited to see more restaurants opening in and around Pittsboro. Especially an Irish Pub! Upon entering I learned you have to have reservations. That won't fly with us if it lasts. Especially a Tuesday evening. May be just now with lots of folks wanting to try it. Had to eat at the bar which I don't mind so much except the bar molding is maybe 8" thick and you can't eat anywhere near over your plate. Next the food was tasty. I got the Shepherds Pie and the wife got the fish tacos. My wife's comment was that she had more pico de gallo than fish. My Shepherds Pie had more mashed potatoes than meat/veggies. The takeaway is tasty but "where's the meat?" Service was good. We'll give it another try once the excitement dies down, but if the reservations stay we will likely not bother.

My husband and I have visited this restaurant three times now, and I can't praise it enough. The fish and chips are the best I've ever had in the US. I always order the full portion, which comes with two generous pieces of beer-battered fish, thin green beans, and French fries. In my opinion, this dish is the star of the menu. Today, we also tried the shepherd's pie, and it didn't disappoint. The flavorful meat and delicious mashed potatoes were spot-on. This restaurant is a fantastic addition to our small town, and I hope they maintain their consistency. The service is friendly and attentive, making the overall experience even more enjoyable.

This is a Pub, so it's not gourmet, however, the food is good, the beers are plentiful and varied, service is friendly and courteous. I've been there twice. On the second visit it was in the evening with family and friends. We ordered a variety of dishes from the menu. Every one was pleased with the flavor, service, and vibe. Reservations are recommended as the word is out on this delightful neighborhood Pub.
