Excellent food! It seems that Desi Indian Restaurant has made three (3) things their main and only focus. 1. Providing amazing, fresh tasting food each visit. 2. Giving kind, attentive service each visit. 3. Keeping very affordable menu prices without sacrificing on the exceptional flavor & portions, all while maintaining excellent customer service. A restaurant that actually gets it! 5's!!!

Tried their 3 items so far after perhaps the management changed. Previously when I had tried several months ago food wasn't that good quality I feel. I have tried many other Northern Indian/Southern Indian restaurants in the area and felt quite surprised that food was actually quite good given the hole in the wall appearance. I think the reason southern Indian restaurants do not appear that fancy is that people from those cultures prefer to spend time eating with their whole families and as well entertain guests in the comfort of their homes. 1. Fish Cutlet- very good. $1 for each. Try it with sriracha/tomato sause- even better. 2. Mutten Curry. (take out $10 for 1 lbs) Excellent authentic tasting. 3. Yukka preparation. $5 for 1 serving. Very good. I suggestion so far I can think of, their kitchen needs to appear a little bit cleaner so folks don't get the impression it's not clean there. This is a disservice they are actually doing to the taste and quality of their food. One thing to note to folks who are used to regular chicken Tikka, Tandoori chicken, Naan bread kind of Northern Indian food is that this place serves cuisine that is a micro culture of Syrian Christian immigrant tradition of the Southern Indian state of Kerala where Christianity are a majority unlike other places in India where Hindus are the majority, so it is a good degree separate from the "Indian food" if you had before. If you like spice food enough I would recommend: - Porotta (flour made and flat apperaing flaky bread preparation)- Either mutton curry or beef chilly or beef curry preparation to go with it. - Masala Dose ( Crepe made with fermented ground rice with potato, green peas, onions, carrot and tempering)- Other things as you explore further :-)

I drive by this place all the time but never ventured in til today. I ordered a Kerala style Thali. This did not disappoint!!! Kudos to the chef in the kitchen! The Kerala Thali comes with Rice, Papadum(fried peeled black gram flour), Aviyal(thick mixture of vegetables and coconut, seasoned with coconut oil and curry leaves), Beef curry, Fish curry, Thoran (coconut based vegetable dish), Moru curry( spiced yogurt curry), Fresh Chammanthi(red coconut chutney) and mango pickle( pickled mango). Overall: I will be back and will be bringing family and friends. When your in Stafford, TX - stop on by and try them out!!!

Ordered food for the family party and everyone enjoyed everything. Food was on time, freshly prepared and still hot. The palappam was the best I've had in a while, if you are looking for some good kerala food, this is a great place to start.

I like their spicy masala dosa it's like authentic Indian .Most of the food is fresh but they need to make their chicken tikka masala little bit tastier, it's like just salt and color added without any spices. The dish has no flavor. The service is good.

I was really happy with the customer service here, so no doubt you will be treated well, when you arrive. This business also thrives on its catering side as the entire night, I saw them loading food into a van. I've noticed some restaurants cater amazingly well, however this is a restaurant review. The reason I would say this is a three star is because I've had home made Indian/Pakistani food before and gone to Aga's and other similar restaurants near Hilcroft. This is a decent place, but once you've had homemade Indian food, you know exactly what to expect. Nothing is not tasty, but I know you can get tastier food elsewhere. However, as a plus, the food does come out quickly and like I mentioned, the staff here is great. It's an interesting enough place to explore, but not a go-to place for me.

My wife and I swung by here on a whim to check it out. One of the listings (I think Google) indicated that it was an all you can eat buffet, which is most certainly isn't. This is your typical counter service Indo-Pakistani restaurant, though they seem more focused on a fast-casual menu as opposed to some of the other places I've been to.Service was spectacular even though the place was largely empty, and you can tell that the people who love the place come by regularly to watch South Asian channels and eat the food they love. For my wife and me, we were a bit underwhelmed by what we got. The Chicken 65 was a bit on the dry side and the chicken biryani was just okay. I've had comparable quality at a couple of buffets that I'd probably go back to before I'd come back here.

the first time we went here, the food was good. So we went there again, all the way from downtown Houston. Service very good but the food was terrible. He cannot cook Biryani to save his life. If anyone can honestly say the Avial is worth anything, does not know what good food is. This restaurant will not be open for long unless the cook learns to specifically cook regional foods or take those items off the menu. I'm not sure where coconut comes into play in BiryanI. All we got was a tray full of colored rice with a few pieces of meat thrown in. Never going back and you should NOT either unless you like getting ripped off or like nasty food. . This food could only be classified as South Indian fare and should not be mistaken for anything else
