"I love subs. Specifically, I love Italian subs.On my trip to Denver, we decided that subs were the takeout option for lunch.I of course, opted for an Italian and it was so good. The bread has the perfect mix of a bit of flakiness but soft as well. The sub was STACKED with meat and all the toppings. I specifically loved the hot pepper mix I added to my sub.My friend's sandwich looked amazing also. If you're in the area and looking for a sub, I would try out Stack's. They've been voted best sandwich in Denver for 6 years in a row, so if that isn't reason enough to check them out, I'm not sure what is!"

No dine-in.I got the #1 Combination bahn mi, which is their cold cut sandwich filled with pate, ham, pork belly, and steamed pork, and topped with cilantro and pickled veggies. It was huge! The sandwich was so delicious and tasty. It's probably the best bahn mi I've had. I also got a pork chaud. It is a flaky pastry with pork inside. I thought this was okay. Everything else they had on display looked really tasty. I hope to return to try it all.This is a take-out only. No dine-in. It seems like a pretty popular place. "2 years later, it's time for an updated review! My friend and I walked to Lou's from our dance studio for lunch, and it's still one of the best sandwich shops in town. There are so many options, including groceries in their refrigerated sections. I ended up ordering a Muffeletta because I looove olives and it was recommended by one of the staff members there. The half portion was perfect. Apparently they do quarter portions as well. Definitely want to try some of their plates in the future. There's plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. You can pair your sandwich with one of the beverages in their labeled fridges. Plenty of street parking in the area. Excited to come back and support Lou's again!"

Limited selection but still decent. The service is just okay. Anything local is usually better than a corporate chain. It mostly is the case here. The prices really aren't worse than many other stores. It's typical of a convenient store to take advantage of customers in a hurry. They sure do that here, but it's not all bad though. Some things have decent prices. The made to order items are the best values. Grocery items are pricier. This is good if you have some time. It has a pretty good menu of sandwiches and things from the deli. Prices are better for the made to order items. This is a better place if you have time for waiting."

I could eat a big bowl by myself! They're not kidding with their fettuccine Alfredo. Pasta is made in-house. Suppose you order the adorable and delicious pizza log. Think of them as really fancy mozzarella sticks only to be wrapped with an egg roll wrapper and stuffed with mozzarella and pepperoni, and served with a side of warm red sauce. A staff favorite :) 4 pieces to an order. The addicting Garlic Broccoli ( I swear!) is soo good! Their chicken Parm with eggplant is so yummy! You have to order the sizeable house-made meatball. Finger licking good! They carry their own house white and red wines. And some local beers. Now for dessert, they have this house-made Ricotta cookie to die for! I'm considering quitting my day job to live here instead!Jokes aside, I've had Valentes buried in my bookmarks since I moved to Denver. And to be honest, I forgot about it until it somehow worked its way into a recent conversation. I immediately made a game plan to visit ASAP.First impressions. This is the most comprehensive Italian market I've been to in a long time. In terms of sauces, pastas, olive oils, you name it, they have it. My favorite brands like De Cecco, Sclafani and Cento line the shelves like a library. It's a sight to behold. I could almost cry.The party doesn't stop there. Even though it very well could. The selection of insane. But then, not to be outdone, the Valente family has its own deli and bakery on site. They make incredible Italian sausage (just made meatballs out of them!), frozen pastas and baked goods. The white chocolate macadamia cookies are the best of its kind. You think I'm being facetious. Trust me, I'm not.Oh, and one epic Italian sandwich to boot. Soft bread, beautifully cut Italian meats stacked perfectly. "Denver has a bunch of delis, would be delis, pretend delis, sandwich shops that think they're delis, sort of Jewish delis, and the New York Deli News which is the closest thing we've got to a classic, New York City-style Jewish deli. It has been my favorite since they opened in 1989 and it is my favorite now.They hit all of my hot buttons: matzo ball soup, deli salads, chopped liver, a huge list of fantastic, overstuffed sandwiches (corned beef, pastrami, corned beef & pastrami!), blintzes, all day breakfast, and weekend brunch.The space was getting a little tired on my last visit several months ago, but I was surprised this visit with a fancy new sign, a new color scheme, new menus, a tidied up interior, and new systems, including very nice hand-held terminals for the servers. Everything ran very efficiently.I had my frequent order of blintzes on this visit. They were tasty, hot, and fresh. My friend had a very generously-sized cheese omelet which he enjoyed. I love the matzo ball (chicken) soup here. The matzo balls are always tender and the soup richly flavored. The sandwiches are great. You can't go wrong with any of them. "Far and away, one of the most underrated restaurants in Denver. I wish I lived on this side of town, because Tessa Delicatessen could easily be a 2-3 times a week neighborhood place. The menu is straightforward with every item made with intention and detail. You won't go home hungry.At the helm, you have a husband and wife duo who know what they're doing. The space is larger than you'd expect for a "delicatessen" and its size is deceiving from its Colfax entrance. It's difficult for a restaurant do execute breakfast, lunch and dinner and somehow all three are excellent. I have enjoyed their dinner options like the pastas over the years, but if you can have one meal here make it a sandwich. Hardest part will be narrowing down which one you're going to order. You'll find cold and hot options, and sometimes a special or two.Oh, and while I'm here don't forget about their burger. Denver makes a lot of burgers and Tessa's rendition should be in that conversation.On my last visit, I went with a newer sandwich from their menu, the Tessa Chopped Cheese. Now Denver doesn't know too much about this sandwich and I've been let down a handful of times ordering it elsewhere. NOT HERE.For starters, the bread they use is a slam dunk. Seeded hoagie roll is crisp on the outside and super soft in the middle. My only qualm was how big and bready the sandwich was. Nonetheless, I could eat the bread by itself. The inside melty and the perfect consistency. Is it exactly like a New York bodega? No, and that's fine. It's just as delicious, just as satiating, and just as satisfying. Melty, creamy, salty unctuousness. Easily the best chopped cheese I've had in Denver!Supporting local businesses has always been important. But when you find a husband and wife owned spot doing it the right way without taking shortcuts you want to shout it from the rooftops. More foodies need to know about the amazing things happening here. I can't believe it took me so long to write them a 5-star review!"

The front of the deli has a store with a large variety of groceries and meats and wine. In the back is a sit down restaurant and what looks like a small catering hall. Even if you don't adhere to the rules of kashrut, I highly recommend the restaurant! The food is wonderful and the staff are pleasant!"

I've tried most of what they offer but a couple stands out particularly their motherclucker and Italian sandwiches. Their house peppers are to die for and adds a nice little zing to each bite! In the photo was their special which was the Italian but with meatballs and marinara which was amazing.Ok but what about their off menu offerings? Boy get the Mother clucker now! Rotisserie chicken, veggies and the secret ingredient...honey! It adds a nice little sweetness which cuts into the saltiness to the toppings. You won't be disappointed! We've only been two of their locations, which are the cherry Creek and University shops, but both provide amazing service and good eats."

Generous with the dressing, and possibly too liberal for my liking. I needed 5 or 6 napkins while eating it, haha. Balanced sandwich, good zip and tang to counter the salty meat.FARM FRESH CHICKEN CLUB ($15) // Grilled chicken breast on a fresh baked bun stacked w/ bacon, arugula, pickled red onions, fresh guacamole, cheddar cheese, ranch & everything bagel seasoning. WOAH. The only thing missing was the kitchen sink. Although a ton of ingredients, they all worked well together, and you could easily taste each one individually. My only knock was the chicken, that was a bit on the dry side. Other than that, a vibrant sandwich with a delicious freshly baked bun.There's a lot going right here. Online ordering is a synch. They have a walk up window, but if you're inside the brewery you can order at the bar. Perfect for grab and go, or pounding a few beers with a big group.
