We had a lovely Easter lunch at Dakar and were very pleased with everything. First of all, the place is well appointed and very clean. We were greeted by a very friendly server, who took care of our orders, and was very attentive and outgoing. We had a couple of appetizers to share and then we got the Dibi chicken and the paella. The flavors were superb, the sauces that accompanied them were interesting and tasty, and the portions were very generous. There were four of us, and we had plenty left to take home.this was my first time to taste Senegalese food, and I found it very delicious and I'm anxious to return and try other menu items. I encourage you to try as well as places that are this well run and make such a strong attempt to keep the customer happy should be patronized. you'll discover some new taste you've never had but guarantee you'll want to return for more. We were very pleased with our choice.

I had almost an hour wait for my food but it was good and hot when it came out so I would probably order ahead next time. Large servings with enough for two people or for leftovers.

Dakar Street Food is an unexpected find, introducing me to the vibrant flavors of Senegalese cuisine. It was my first time trying West African dishes too. Their daily specials bring an explosion of savory flavor, with just the right level of spiciness. The portions here are incredibly generous, and the friendly staff is more than happy to guide you through the dishes, which is especially helpful if you're new to Senegalese food like I was. My Dibi Chicken dish was big enough to last me two meals! There is ample parking outside and it's a true hole-in-the-wall find. The interior is clean, but it could use better AC in this Texas heat. Nonetheless, the flavors here are great and I would definitely come back!

For a mid Sunday afternoon, I was looking for something full of flavor, different from the usual restaurant fare. Dakar Street Food was the landing spot, and I was glad of it since I love Senegalese did.The fatayas were out of this world. Instead of a spicy tomato sauce for dipping, there were onions. The fatayas already had a spicy kick. The whole grilled fish and plantains were the best. I washed it all down with bissap. The restaurant is in a small strip mall that's not on a street that gets heavy traffic. It looks small from the outside, but it is quite spacious inside. Based on my exposure to Senegalese food in Chicago and in Senegal, they hit the mark. I'm going back next time I'm in Houston.

Located in a nondescript strip mall on Walnut Bend, if one doesn't know what they're looking for, this gem is easily missed. Restaurant is bigger inside than it appears, no frills type of family owned business, very clean and the staff is friendly. Ordered the Fatayas, an empanada Senegalese style, flavorful land full of meat . Also ordered a chicken wrap. Menus says you get 2 wraps when it's actually one cut in 2, and it comes with a side of flavored fries. Only gripe is that the online menu needs to be updated for I REALLY wanted to try their "giant fish tacos" only to be learn it was no longer in the menu . The portions were generous. I don't care for the tomato dipping sauce that comes with the fatayas, other than that, it's all golden. If I'm in the area, I will definitely return. Run and go experience the delights Sénégal has to offer.

First time trying Senegalese/Caribbean food was a great experience with friendly staff and delicious food! The restaurant seems small on the outside, but there is plenty of space inside. It's located in a small strip mall and there is a small parking lot that it shares with other businesses, but we had no trouble finding a spot. I went for lunch on a Wednesday and there was no one dining in, so we were able to sit anywhere we wanted without waiting. There was a mix of booth and table seating. No outdoor seating. Lots of TVs inside. The staff was very friendly, and she helped us a lot with making choices. This was our first time trying Senegalese food, so we were glad she was so willing to explain the food and give recommendations. The menu is in English with good descriptions. They also have pictures of the food shown on a TV screen. The food was very good. We especially loved the rice, ginger drink (spicy and sweet!), and fish fataya (Senegalese-style empanadas.) The presentation was neat and appealing. Note that they do have daily specials!

This is my third visit to Dakar Street Food and I can confidently say this is my go-to restaurant for comfort food! Even though I'm not Senegalese, the food from Dakar Street Food feels like my family's own home-cooked meals. Lots of good seasoned food, sauces that pack a flavorful wallop, and generous portions.I definitely recommend the Cepp Yapp Bou Khong that they sell on Thursdays. It comes with a protein (bone-in lamb, beef, or chicken) with well-seasoned jollof rice, stewed vegetables, and a flavorful red colored onion sauce. I personally think it offers a good idea of whether you'll like the restaurant and want to explore the rest of the menu. That and the fish! The Yassa Jen, which is also a Thursday special, is a whole grilled tilapia over white rice and a generous heap of citrus-y onion sauce. Dakar Street Food grills their fish to perfection and their fish is one of the reasons why I keep returning. I didn't think I'll sing praises over tilapia but here I am. If you aren't afraid of fish bones, order the tilapia and dine in so you can enjoy that perfectly crispy and smoky skin. It is chef's kiss.

I was in town for work and looking for some unique food. Dakar Street food did not disappoint!! The Saturday Special (Cepp Jen bou khong) was recommended by the hostess and it was by far the best fish I have ever had. A full tilapia seasoned perfectly and the meat fell right off the bones. The rice and veggies were just as good and round out the meal perfectly. The ginger juice was also amazing!A huge amount of food for the price! I had to bring the extras home. I'll likely be back before heading home at the end of the week.

The Senegalese food at Dakar is amazing. West African food in general is some of my favorite food along with Puerto Rican and Dominican food. It's very filling, reasonably priced, and flavorful. The flavor is like someone is making this food in their kitchen at home and you can't beat that. My favorite dish from Dakar is the "Cepp Yapp bou khong" which has Jolof rice with vegetables, beef, and spicy onion sauce. I always add side of plantains to it and in Ramadan they offer dates to break your fast with. The food is Halal as well which is a huge plus for me. Keep in mind that certain dishes are only offered on certain days so check the menu or call ahead of time to make sure. I always get the Cepp Yall Bou Khong with beef but next time I will try it with lamb. I love the combination of vegetables they include with this dish. I hear their Jerk Chicken is great as well. Some people love it so much it's all they order but because of that they miss out on the other great dishes. The service is great, the people who work here are some of the nicest and the restaurant has a mom and pop feel. I highly recommend Dakar.

Was in town for Juneteenth activities with friends and we wanted to find somewhere with good traditional African food. Dakar definitely OVER delivered on their food and service. It was 7 of us and we ordered pretty much one of everything on the menu and we were all satisfied with what we got. Left full and happy. The chef even brought us out an extra fish to try. New go-to spot when in the city
