Very unassuming, hole in the wall restaurant a little ways south of downtown Houston. Its on the way to Hobby airport though so great stop if you want some lunch or dinner before flying. It seems to be run by an older couple and the male presenting owner doesn't seem to have a great grasp of English but you can point and order. Service was very quick and efficient, no chitchatting as I don't speak Vietnamese. We ordered the egg rolls, pho dac biet, and the vegetarian crispy egg noodles. All dishes came out pretty quick and were all delicious. The pho broth was very clean and complex and just so flavorful. There was also a lot of meat to go with it. The egg rolls were large and had a nice assortment of veggies to do some wraps. The gravy that came with the egg noodles was also delicious and a great way to soften up the crispy noodles and still getting some crunch with the noodles too.Overall, this was an excellent Viet restaurant and the prices were awesome. All dishes were under $12 and most are even under $10. For a very filling, cheap meal, def make your way down!

It might not be clear that it's open due to the window coverings and a parking lot that has seen better days--but this is some really good authentic Vietnamese food at a price point that will make everyone happy (most entrees under $10 and a lunch special until 3pm). No frills in a good way, with polite service and pay at the counter. Honestly felt like it could have been somewhere I ate on my last trip to HCMC/Hanoi. Highly recommended.

Absolutely one of the best Vietnamese restaurants in Houston. This hole in the wall has been a staple in the Broadway/Gulf gate area for decades and they are very consistent. Mr. Ha and his wife make very authentic Vietnamese and make sure your glass is never empty... literally.Per my daughters, he has the best fried rice in the city. Not the fanciest place, so come casual and enjoy!

Don't let the outside fool you, it almost fooled us. We thought it was closed. Inside was outdated but that never bothers me, usually means food is great! We were greeted by I assume the owner. He was the only one taking orders so was a bit slow to take ours but we were fine with that. We ordered a pork plate, pho, pork spring rolls and house fried rice. I enjoyed the pho and spring rolls. Fried rice (husbands order) was just ok IMO but I have high standards for all fried rice.

I was looking at several places for Vietnamese in Houston and decided on this one because the interior looked really cool. There is a fish tank, dolphin statues, lots of neat decor.I saw things on here about bad service, weird smells, etc. None of that was the case! It was clean inside, the food was fresh, and the service was immediate. There seems to be only one waiter/manager, an older man. He doesn't talk much and will only say "okay" to a lot of things you're saying, but it's not out of rudeness. Just make sure he sees clearly what you're ordering. We had pork vermicelli, egg rolls, and tofu stir fry. All were fresh and excellent, nice portions and great prices. I had the iced coffee as well, nice and strong with sweetened condensed milk, perfect for summer. Most of the other Vietnamese spots with amazing food have modernized/generic interiors... places like Cuu Long Quan are fewer and fewer now. Show this place some love!

Came here with a friend for lunch. While it may be a little hole in wall it was a decent bowl of pho. The service was good an although there was a little wait for the food it was good. This honestly has been the best pho I've been able to find near the University of Houston. The Vietnamese eggrolls were a little different then the ones I have had in the past and the outside of the roll was really chewy and a bit unpleasant. The pho broth was a little lacking in depth of flavor but the beef balls where some of the best ones I have had.

My sons wanted Vietnamese food while on the SE side town. I haven't eaten here since my daughter was in college. Glad we rediscovered it today. We were happy to see that it had vegetarian options because my younger son is trying to avoid meat. The prices are quite reasonable. Plus we had leftovers of the pork stir-fry with fish sauce and the tofu. The cha gio were shaped longer and flatter than what other restaurants serve but these seemed to stay crispy longer. This is a mom-and-pop place so they're a bit slow bussing tables after customers leave. No issues with the service otherwise.

Several of my friends and I went to the Botanic Gardens and wanted lunch after our morning visit. I read some good reviews of this spot. But when we got there my friends were apprehensive as the front entry is not too inviting.I told them it had stellar reviews so we went in and the older man at the counter seated us at a big table, there were 8 of us. He quickly took drink orders and then food orders. I asked him, point blank, what he recommended and he suggested #47 which was a medley of proteins over rice vermicelli noodles with fresh veggies. Funny but the rest of my group also asked what he suggested. In the end we all had such excellent food delivered!Everything we had was fresh and hot, good tasty ingredients and full of Vietnamese flavor. If I lived nearby I would dine her often.I will add, the servings are very generous, the bowl I had was chock full and almost hard to finish for lunch. The ice tea was fresh and not canned or anything like that. The older man, possibly the owner made frequent visits to refill. These are the kind of places we all need to frequent and support to keep in business.

After seeing the "great" reviews I decided to try this place out. My first opinion stepping in was that this place wasn't inviting and the staff was unfriendly. This wasn't an issue at all, it's been said that's a plus to authentic asian restaurants. (just something that should be mentioned to others not expecting this with the great reviews and all). The wait was too long, i was seeing people before me get their food late so I was expecting mine as well. I stuck it out hoping the foods taste will be worth the wait.1. The egg rolls were different from others, they were good while they were hot. the cooler they got, the harder they become. 2. Something about their pork's taste was off, not that it was a spoiled taste, just an off taste. 3. The peanut sauce, i couldn't eat. It wasn't peanut sauce. I had to make my own.The southeast area doesn't have many good Vietnamese restaurants, so when i saw the reviews and because of the reviews was the reason I tried this place out, it's because of the reviews that I had to leave this one.

It's absolutely my favorite pho in all of houston. Seriously. In a city with hundreds of pho restaurants where I've been to almost all of them, I keep craving this one. The consistency and flavor are incredible. This is from someone who will drive 20 miles to try a new pho restaurant. This is still my top. I'll take this over pho binh trailer any day. This food is made with love, and you can taste it in every dish. The husband works the front as the waiter and cashier, and his wife cooks all the food in the kitchen. They are getting older, so try to enjoy the food before they decide to retire!
