Sarah M. "This is a tricky review. I'm spoiled by some of the best bbq in Texas being near my house, but I was in Corpus for work and this was 3 minutes from my hotel. The atmosphere and inside are 10/10. Such a good looking place with tons of seating. No sticky booths, very well kept. The sliced brisket was pretty average, and the sides were forgettable. However, the plate of meat and two sides was $13 with brisket. At one of the top rated bbq places I mentioned, you'd pay $13 just for the meat. Getting a whole meal with no line was just what I needed in between meetings. It's a very good value, and I'd return if staying nearby."

I ordered the fully loaded baked potato. Let me tell you the size of the plates were huge! Especially for the price it was great! The food was so delicious. Literally the best BBQ I have had anywhere. This place is a hidden gem! The meat was literally falling apart it was so tender. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone the food is amazing! The place is so cute as well. They have outside seating with a little covered area. Great place to take family and they also serve beer. Like I said this place is great and the food is the best for BBQ that I have ever tasted and I have ate a ton of BBQ places and this is the best in my opinion so far. Will definitely be going back great prices and delicious food."

Damali V. "I hate to be the first four-star review but I have to be honest about my assessments and concerns. Getting to the point, the food is delicious. It was nice to get a home-away-from-home cooked meal. Evelyn was so kind to let us sample many of the options. They were all displayed like a buffet but you can only choose one main entree and two sides. You also get a side of cornbread with your meal. I was able to taste the smoked turkey, chicken and dumplings, corn and a bit more. My friends and I were hooked in. All of the menu offerings were written on the chalkboard but what compelled me to reduce the rating to four stars was due to the lack of signage for the pricing. I wish I had taken a photo so you could see what I mean. I made some assumptions, unfortunately. I assumed that every entree was priced the same. If it weren't, why wouldn't the pricing be posted? How would I know that the oxtails would be much more than the chicken and dumplings or the steak?? I didn't ask because I assumed no matter what I got, would be under $20. I only had so much cash on me. I was far from home and had left my debit card in my other purse and had no idea my bank wasn't anywhere close to this town. After she fixed our plate with generous portions, I had my $20 bill in hand ready to pay. She told us to go ahead and eat first. That may have been smart because after we had dug in and was nice and full, it was too late to change our minds after learning the cost of the bill.A nice lady on staff asked us what we wanted to drink, I said water. It's my usual. I prefer to eat my calories than drink them. Again, I assumed she was going to bring us a cup with water in it but instead she brought us each a bottled water. I was so immersed in my meal that I didn't speak up and say, "Oh no thank you. I thought you were going to bring cups of water." I just let it go. When it was time to pay, I was shocked when she said that my bill was $27.01. To my horror, I only had $26 and a penny in my purse. If my friend hadn't been there to give me a dollar, I would have been jacked! It was so embarrassing. I usually pay with a card so that never happens. My friends' steak and chicken and dumplings also with the bottled waters didn't cost as much as mine. Had I known the oxtails were going to end up being $27, I would have made a lessor choice. I've only ordered oxtails from Jamaican/Caribbean restaurants and never paid that much. I just paused to look up the menu of a Caribbean restaurant in California and even post pandemic the price is $16.95 for an ox tails plate. Why did she ask us what hotel we were staying at before she rung us up? It made me wonder if the locals paid a different price. Why didn't i remember to ask for a receipt?? I usually do but forgot this time. I must have still been shook.I was sad that all my cash on hand was gone that I couldn't even leave a tip for their wonderful service. Now that I live in Texas, I need to work on my Texan accent. Maybe that would have helped. Not making assumptions definitely would have helped me out too. Oh well. You live and learn.I bless them and this business and pray they continue to prosper."

This time i brought an out-of-town friend with me and thank you for a great afternoon! We came during the week on a cool drizzly day, shopped a bit in Gruene, then settled in for lunch. We got a great table overlooking the river. Everyone was so nice. the ambiance is so homey. Our waiter was so friendly and shared some great stories with us.Since we have light appetites, we thought sharing an appetiser and a couple of sides would be about right. Holy moly! We could only eat half the pasta salad and bean sides. Both were delicious, well seasoned, and satifying, but when paired with the sausage appetiser... we were out matched. "Falls City, Texas Polish Wedding Sausage with Gristmill BBQ sauce." It must have been nearly 3 pounds of sliced sausage with onions and sauce and something else... i was overwhelmed. The sausage is crazy good and reminds me that the settlers in this part of Texas came from sausage-making traditions in Europe. I no longer live in Texas and miss its sausages!!Plan to spend a bit of time here soaking up the chill atmosphere."

We saw that it had good reviews and wanted to try this business out and I guess we maybe came at a bad time.Once we arrived we sat down at the outside seating area and were handed our menus. It was a nice day and the location of the business is right in the corner of the downtown roundabout. Once we were ready we waited for a while until our server came back out. I ordered a large coffee hot with a salad and a side of grits. My girlfriend ordered the meatloaf with a small iced coffee and an aside of jalapeño cornbread. We later were offered to sit inside since it was cooler and we had a baby.We then waited some more and then our coffee's arrived. Except mine was a small and iced. I then tried to get her attention but she ended up leaving. I then waited, and just got my coffee and went up front to ask for my correct order. She then apologized and stated that she was new and get me my correct order. I sat back down and awhile later an employee walked up with our food. He looked miserable and then when I asked for the jalapeño cornbread he stated "yeah, it will be out in a minute". Later I received my correct coffee and as we finished our meal the jalapeño cornbread never came. When our server came back, I just told her to take it off the order and forget about it. I then asked if there was any military or first responder discount and when the waitress asked up front they said no. I then looked over the bill and it was over $50 for everything. I was a little shocked they didn't offer any type of discount for the various troubles we had with our service this day. But with all that, I'm giving this place 3 stars. Food was decent, but for the price and service, I expected more."

I ordered a two meat plate of fish and meat loaf with baked Mac and cheeseCabbage Dirty rice Collard greens The food was amazingly fresh and piping hot The meatloaf was so good I devoured it ignoring the sides!!The cabbage was delicious and Mac and cheeses melted in my mouth eliminating the craving I was experiencing. The dirty rice was okay I wanted more flavor to compete with the other side and the collard greens was snapping. My fish was so hot that after I eat all my food it was still hot enough to enjoy and crispy and NOT soggy like some people food get from being covered to long!I watch the game and the staff I mean family there working was so polite and respectful I forgot I was on the East Side of San Antonio!I loved the food better the Tony G's only because of there flavors and seasonings were on point and to my liking as a Black Puerto Rican you gotta have flavor if you want us to like your food and Tony G's oxtails was to greasy and not like the oxtails we eat at home, but Tony G's is still a good place to eat in my opinion but snow island is slightly better and more flavorful! In short snow island was jamming or how my daughter put it they was smacking and snapping! umm umm good!"

The BBQ was decent, flavorful - ribs only on wknds so missed out on those, brisket taco was yummy, the chicken was tender and well-seasoned, the sausage was decent. Bathrooms are in the bldg and you need to ask just FYI.What made this place a 5 for us was the service - super friendly, super helpful. Ricky R. "This evening I was not in a mood to cook, and wanted to try something new. Lucky for me, a food truck was in the front of the neighborhood. The wife and I had heard great things about it, so we took little trip.We arrived and perused the menu outside of the truck. A lot of delicious looking things on the menu. Burgers, birria tacos, yummy looking fries, lots of good stuff. Near the front of the truck a separate menu saying it was burger week, so we opted to try a burger. A friendly face, presumed to be the owner, greeted us and took our order. The wife ordered a single patty smash burger with all of the fixin's to include jalapeños for $15. I noticed a breakfast burger on the menu, so I inquired what was on it. One patty, cheese, a fried egg, bacon, and a hash brown patty. All of my favorite things on one burger. Also, for $16, that seemed like a good deal. In good time, we were summoned to the truck for our order. The fella who took my order informed me he had forgotten to let me know that a spicy strawberry jelly came on my burger as well and asked if that was ok. I am generally not a big fan of jelly, so I politely declined. Unfortunately, the burger was already made, so he requested the cook to remake the burger. Not wanting to wait for another burger I told them I would give it a try. He insisted remaking it would not be a problem, but I opted to try it anyhow. We strolled back to the house and got right to it. I grabbed my burger and forgot about the fried egg. The egg popped and seeped all on the plate before I got a bite. Whoops. Anyhow, the first few bites of my burger were delicious. Juicy, and seasoned very well. Bacon was cooked right and was not rubbery. The hash brown was also a great addition and tasty. About the third bite I got the strawberry jelly. The jelly was good, but it overpowered the burger. The sweetness distracted me from the juicy burger, and annoyed my tastebuds. I tried to scrape the jelly off of the burger, but the burger was saturated with it. I ate about half of the burger and gave up on it. My hands were also very sticky, so I had to stop eating it because it was just too much. I finished eating my fries and watched my wife finish her burger. To be fair, they did offer to remake it. So, the jelly fiasco is on me. I own up to that, and will not ding this review because of it. That being said, I cannot wait for them to visit my neighborhood again. I definitely will be having them again. The food was great, and I loved the whole food truck vibe. If you see this guy in your neighborhood, give them a try. Shop local, and keep these guys in business. Enjoy!"
