"Solid BBQ, food 4-4.5, cool little place - outdoor seating with and without fans where you can sit and enjoy the breeze blowing in the trees and the iglesia next door; pretty interesting sides one of our kiddos was sad about the lack of mac BUT we tasted the mustard potato salad (super tart to wake up those tastebuds), rice (so gooood), tater tot casserole (yes please), borracho beans (delicious) and one child got the green bean tomato fancy salad which disappeared too quickly for me to get a bite! The BBQ was decent, flavorful - ribs only on wknds so missed out on those, brisket taco was yummy, the chicken was tender and well-seasoned, the sausage was decent. Bathrooms are in the bldg and you need to ask just FYI.What made this place a 5 for us was the service - super friendly, super helpful. We had some car troubles and they let us sit on the patio while we waited for a tow and helped us stay hydrated. Solid option."

Delicious food, friendly service, large portions! It's a busy restaurant with decent seating and parking. We probably ordered much more than we needed. Tried the fried fish, gumbo, and shrimp by the pound. The shrimp by the pound was fresh and tasty but our eyes were definitely bigger than our stomach! Only order the shrimp if you have time to peel, relax, and eat. Otherwise, it's a lot of work and it's much more filling than you'd think! The catfish was crispy and fresh along with the rest of the fried items.

This bbq is pretty good. I got the tacos and was surprised when the tortilla and filling was very cold- I am thinking that's what they were going with. I was just very surprised to bite into a cold taco. The beans were ABSOLUTELY delicious, and that's my reasoning for the 4 stars. The food was decent, and customer service was very quick and friendly. I loved the outdoor seating, as the porch area was very clean and the fans were all in working condition.

My wife and I were in a mood for something different and we never been to Z-Tejas before. We had heard some good word of mouth compliments for the service and food, so we decided why not. After it had first opened, l had read some mixed reviews from diners. Some were not favorable but others defended the restaurant, so l was a little leary and now wished I had listened to my instinct. The place was beautiful and the atmosphere was warm and delightful especially with the 2 open fire pits giving off a warm and inviting glow. Our waiter (sorry l forgot his name) met us at the door and promptly sat us. His mannerism was fantastic ( only reason l gave 2 stars) . He was very attentive but not pushy. He made suggestions for the beverages and appetizer. The tea was tasty, the Queso and chips were mediocre. The cheese was thick, clumpy and grainy. The adobo sauce was overly sweet. The cheese was burnt on top around the edges giving the overly concoction a bitter taste. The corn bread was hard (over cooked) cold. My wife ordered the grilled Salmon classic style (their words) and I had the Chicken Tinga Chili Renano. Like I said the waiter was very attentive constantly refilling our teas, so off the the men's room. After spending thousands on the creation of a great atmosphere, the restroom was under- whelming. The pipes looked cheep and not well installed showing signs of rust already and one of the wash basins had a broken water spigot being held up by a very dirty looking bottle of something. My wife's grilled salmon had very little flavor except for the flavor given off from a less than fresh piece of fish. My dish was also undesirable with the chicken being very sweet to point l couldn't taste chicken. The filling looked like chicken salad (overly blended with the pineapple, raisins and pecan). I could not distinguish any of the ingredients from the mush that comprised the filling. Well we tried something new, not really happy that we did, but the waiter made our visit pleasant, sorry I can't say the same for the food.

Since moving to the Corpus Christi Texas area from Oahu, Hawaii the employees there have become like family to us. Mentioning, greeter whom we met , Sydney. Then Jillian who is our most favorite waitress of whom we know very well. Very friendly. We also want to mention (Vanity). When we met her she told us how to remember her name like (Vanity Mirror)(lol). We visited last night as we had a late dinner. We met a very well mannered young man Tristan. He always checked to make sure if we needed anything. We had chicken with huge thighs, wings and drumsticks. And all I can say is wow! It was fantastic!! We are going to miss this place as moving to Galveston in 19 days. Then back to Hawaii in 2026. This place will always be remembered as wonderful memories with us!

Decided to give this place a try. I had the shrimp plate. It came with 10 grilled shrimp, baked potato, hush puppies and choice of the days veggies. I really loved the shrimp flavor. Baked potato was good. Hush puppies were way too spicy for me! The hubby got the trio basket (fried shrimp, fried catfish, stuffed crab & fries. He said it was a good meal. The service was great. My big complaint is the air conditioning was barely working or maybe they keep it that way on purpose. It was too hot for us though! We will go back but maybe wait for cooler weather!

I ordered the fully loaded baked potato. Let me tell you the size of the plates were huge! Especially for the price it was great! The food was so delicious. Literally the best BBQ I have had anywhere. This place is a hidden gem! The meat was literally falling apart it was so tender. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone the food is amazing! The place is so cute as well. They have outside seating with a little covered area. Great place to take family and they also serve beer. Like I said this place is great and the food is the best for BBQ that I have ever tasted and I have ate a ton of BBQ places and this is the best in my opinion so far. Will definitely be going back great prices and delicious food."
