Cool Runnings Jamaican Grill

Last few times I came here was before the Pandemic and I absolutely loved it. This time was meh. There were two people in front of us on a Tuesday afternoon so they were not packed at all. I ordered a large Curried Chicken, Oxtails, a veggie chicken patty, a chicken patty and a roti skin and decided to eat in the dining room. I don't eat red meat but heard the oxtails were so good my curried chicken wasn't as good as I remember I am slowly transitioning from chicken and this could be why. I don't ever have to have it again. It was seasoned well but didn't taste the same. I was so excited for the veggie patties because I wanted to try them before attempting to make it. The veggies were cold and you could tell they are frozen veggies. My rice and peas were lumpy and no seasoning. It's almost like they were a forgotten factor in the dish. The cabbage was cold. The roti was ok ‍Food hasn't been fooding for me for a while and I'm disappointed about this experience. Hope you have a better time.Updated: They get another star. Later on after warming my food, it was better. The rice and peas and the cabbage tasted more seasoned‍ and the chicken patty was great as well.

The food flavors are pretty good but they need to work better in customer service and picking up their phones. We had questions before we wanted to order on Uber Eats, for example we wanted to make sure they had certain menu items available. We called during their regular business hours and there is an automated system. Someone picked up and immediately told us to hold, then had us in the phone waited for 10 minutes. Our call got disconnected and we tried to call back again. We tried like 5 times over and over again and the system would immediately kick us back to the main menu. That was very irritating. We blindly ordered anyway and hoped that they had what we wanted. My fiancé also wanted to ask if they used white or dark meat chicken in their dishes, and wrote a note in the Uber app that he only wanted white meat. They could have called to clarify, but didn't, and therefore he was very disappointed when it was dark meat. They only gave a little bit of cabbage and there was a lot of bones in the curry goat. Also their phone system says they are on Door Dash (which I prefer to use that has less fees) and they are not in there.

To me, the best Jamaican food in the Greater Houston Area! I knew about this place long before Keith Lee, but I'm glad he validated it on a national scale!I first found out about this place when its food truck came to our school for lunch one day last school year. I tried the jerk chicken wings and loved them! So one day I went to the brick and mortar location and got the same meal, jerk chicken wings with rice and peas. I knew this place was certified because I could taste the coconut milk in the rice & peas. My family is Jamaican so of course I've eaten a lot of Jamaican food in my life. And this place is legit! I've also tried the jerk pork and beef patties here, and it's all great! They messed up my side order once, but all is forgiven.My dad would probably tick them a star because he went to Wolmers and the owners at Cool Runnings have a Kingston College tip jar lol, but it's still solid! I need to try more on the menu there like the brown stew chicken and the oxtail, but I know it will be great!1,000% recommend this place to anyone looking for great Jamaican food in Houston!

Ordered to go. Was in and out for pick up within 5 minutes. Meats were seasoned well and tasty. The plantains were a bit tougher than I'd liked but overall everything was good and I'll for sure order again.

I always come here for the jerk chicken and soup. Portions is plenty and food is good and authentic

It's been almost a couple of years since we been to Cool Runnings Jamaican Grill. I was ready for round 2.The service was a bit slow today, but I was patient enough to wait. The lady finally took my order, and not even 10 minutes later, the food was ready. I ended up getting 3 things. I got a large Curry Goat, a large Brown Stewed Chicken, and 4 Beef Patties.The Curry Goat was really good, not spicy, very mild in flavor, very tender like falling off the bone tender. It came with Rice and Peas and Cabbage. We wanted to try this last time we visited, but they were out. So I was relieved when the lady told me that they have it today. Worth it.The Brown Stewed Chicken was probably my favorite next to the Oxtails. The Chicken was flavorful and falling off the bone tender. The sauce that the chicken was in was so rich and full of flavor. The reason why I decided to try this is because Keith Lee rated this a 10/10... I have to agree with him there.The Beef Patties was still full of flavor on the inside but it was warm, like it's been sitting there for a bit. Despite that, I will return again soon.

We went to check it out because it was recommended by my Jamaican friend. The place is deceiving when you walk in. At first, it looked like a small place because people were ordering takeout. However, they have a huge dining area to the right. My favorite is the brown stew chicken. We also ordered oxtail (delicious too) and chicken curry (it was kinda bland). We ordered calaloo and cabbage with our meals. Our waitress was friendly and very helpful in describing the menu items that we didn't understand. We will definitely be back to try their other items.

Came after the famous tiktok review.. definitely order ahead or expect there to be at least a 15 minute wait even though the staff are working as hard as they could. Just a suggestion for the owners, a monitor showing order numbers would be very helpful as opposed to having the cashiers call them out one by one! Service aside, the food did meet our expectations. We shared a small plate of jerk pork which came with rice and cabbage. The spicy jerk sauce was SO good! Couldn't taste the spice the first few bites but definitely had me sweating a bit towards the end. Wanted to try the cod fritters, but sadly they were out. Wish I had came hungrier to try even more dishes. Docked a star for a couple burnt pieces of pork that were hard to chew, but still doesn't stop me from wanting to try more dishes in the future.

Please Look At The PICTURES!!!!I am so disappointed, I ordered 4 meals today, we spent almost $70. They started out serving pork ribs as the meat for the jerk pork, then they gradually changed to the pork roast. Today we ordered and we received hog maws or ham hocks, the trash part of the pork. It was horrible, it looked like trash. As much as I enjoyed Cool Runnings, this is unacceptable. We drove over 45 minutes to pick up. I had my meal planned out for this Sunday, now I have nothing and I can't get my money back until next week. They have been going downhill for some time now but this is unacceptable. There is only one manager and she was not taking calls from her employees. I do not want this replaced. I ONLY want my money returned.

The food is great, the service is good and the staff is friendly, but what I enjoy the most is the Jerk Chicken.
