I'ma keep it a thousand with yall, this place ain't it.The chicken is all right seasoning is OK with it to be honest with you. It's really realizing a lot of the sauces. The waitresses are wonderful but what really annoyed me was that I'm paying $5.50 plus tax or literally almost half a cup of coffee. That's the main reason why I give a low rating because if you're going to cheap people out then tell us upfront , it's not even filled all the way with ice let alone the coffee itselfIf you're gonna go here, literally go only for the food. If this is your thing, but do not give me at the drinks. They'll rip you off harder than a kid rips off a Band-Aid.

If I could, I would rate this spot a 3.5.We stopped by on a weekend and were surprised to see a completely packed restaurant. We had the bun mang (bamboo shoot vermicelli soup), chicken bamboo flower salad, com ga (chicken and rice), and the banh xeo. We were disappointed to hear that they didn't have their special rice and only the plain rice as that's usually a big highlight of this dish, hopefully it was just a one time thing. The chicken portion was a little small but very flavorful and tender. The skin was perfectly cooked and still firm. The sauce it comes with is also very good. The bun mang was just okay, I'll have to stick to my other go to spot for this. The broth wasn't very flavorful. The banh xeo is what caught me off guard, it is literally huge but super crispy and delicious. It's so large it literally comes with a foil tray of veggies. The protein was a bit lacking and they compensated with extra sprouts, however, it was still very good. The service is also the type that you would expect from og spots so just be forewarned. I was trying to get the salad with bamboo flower and cabbage but I'm not sure if there was some miscommunication or if they also just didn't have that as well. Overall, this is a very solid spot but I would stick to getting the chicken salad, chicken and rice and the banh xeo.

Another Houston favorite that I had to return to with several friends! We ate this on our last day here again and everyone was mad we couldn't come back the following day lol! We all got what they're known for, their chicken rice. They use free range chicken (trust me it tastes different than chicken from the supermarket) with seasoned rice plus a Vietnamese sweet and sour slaw/salad. Phenomenal! Their Vietnamese salad also has a banana root option which is also hard to find in restaurants. What we didn't get to try which heard raves about from their staff was their Vietnamese pancakes or banh xeo! That means we have to make another trip here!

Was craving a goooood ole bowl of chao tonight so I decided to knock this place of my list. I ordered the Chao Ga Dac Biet with Cabbage Chicken Salad. Boyfriend ordered a Banh Xeo. Food came out fairly quickly once we ordered but it did take a little while to order and have someone come by. Dining room is pretty spacious with both booth and table seating and very well lit in here. So I learned the difference between the Special and Regular chicken congee (chao ga) is that the special includes all the yummy chicken organs. I myself enjoy that, so that's what I opted for - the special. The congee was delicious and it was exactly what I was craving. Not too thick and just the perfect portion. The accompanying cabbage salad really just compliments the congee and made my meal even better. 5/5 for me. Banh xeo was HUGE and came with plenty of fresh veggies and fish sauce. One thing to note is that they add squid to the filling here. If you're not a fan of squid, make sure to tell them how you want it when ordering. They were generous with the filling and my boyfriend enjoyed his Banh xeo here, his only complaint was that he wished the pork meat was cut into smaller pieces so you can have filling in every bite. 4.5/5

The restaurant is popular with the locals. The stand alone building was difficult to get to and limited parking made it twice as challenging. There was a wait line when we arrived around 11 AM. The expeditious staff turned tables around quickly, making our wait time minimal. Don't expect friendly service. Do expect unceremonious staff with limited patience. They were busy! We ordered the bamboo shoot noodle soup, half order of duck, and goi ga bap chuoi. The food came out fresh and fast. The soup broth was flavorful and the fresh bamboo shoots were a nice surprise. The duck lacked flavor and devoid of seasoning. The intend was to dip the duck in the fish sauce which did not enhance the taste. It was over priced at $21. The Goi ga bap chuoi was very good. Definitely a reorder the next time we stop by.

This place specializes in their chicken and rice dishes, but also offers a wide variety of dishes on their menu. However, since it was my first time there, I had to try just the classic chicken and rice dish. It was so delicious, and I was very full. The price is reasonable and you do get a very large amount of food. The chicken is very tender and flavorful. I also really liked the sauce and broth that came with the dish on the side. This place is very busy, but service was great. I would come back.

My parents are pretty picky when it comes to viet restaurants, so I know it's legit when they decide to come back to one. They have a wide variety of viet dishes, but my favorite is the banh xeo. I absolutely love the perfectly crispy edges and softer middle of the banh xeo. Service is very efficient and they bring out the dishes quickly! I would highly recommend Com Ga Houston.

Consistent good chicken place. I love how I can get side salad and whatever entree I'm feeling for at the moment here. I've gotten porridge, pho noodles, clear noodles, and the bamboo shoot noodles here and they were all good! The highlight is definitely the cabbage bamboo flower salad- whatever you choose to get from here make sure you make it a combo with the cabbage and bamboo flower salad!

The new location is a lot bigger, more roomier for all the foodies to enjoy the special chicken entries. Servers come fast to take orders but food takes a awhile to come out. I would order a entree like the Goi Ga, tell them you want what out right away before your main entrees. If you don't tell them you'll wait 30 mins and get it all at once. Entries ordered:1. Mien Ga 3/5 - I would order again or choose the Pho Ga.2. Com (rice) Ga Dac Biet 2/5 - if you order this, it's the same thing as the Goi Ga (chicken cabbage) but instead it's served with rice... If your with a bunch of people and they want to order this, I would choose a broth Mien or Pho entree instead.3. Goi Ga Bap Cai (chicken cabbage salad) 2/5 - same as Com Ga but with the cabbage..

Cơm Gà Houston is another bucket list place for Vietnamese cuisine in Houston, TX. The name says it all. Rice and chicken in Htown! This is a great place for lunch. The restaurant itself is humble appearing from the outside and simple but tidy and clean inside. You will notice right away that the service is quick and to the point. If you are indecisive with your choice of food, your server may move on and come back to you later. They are quick though, so you won't wait long either way. From my experience, knowing a little or a lot of tiếng việt (Vietnamese language) comes in handy when ordering but just pointing at the number you want will work just as well. Fortunately, I know enough to get by even if I sometimes have to repeat myself a few times. I gotta get better with the tones. Great practice though! The food is very good and a great change of pace from some of the more common Vietnamese dishes to be found elsewhere. If you are coming here for the first time you have to get the cơm gà (chicken and rice). The chicken is room temp by design so don't expect a hot dish but it's great just like that. If I'm not mistaken cơm gà is the Vietnamese variation of Hainanese chicken and rice or very similar. It tastes great and is very filling as well. Another dish I had was the Bún Măng Vịt Gỏi Bắp Chuối (Duck with Banana Flower Salad). The Bún Măng Vịt was excellent! The duck meat was seasoned well, the bamboo shoots were tender and juicy and the broth was very good. The vermicelli noodles were filling and the fresh herbs made it taste really great. The banana flower salad was really tasty and a great highlight to an already delicious meal. The small bowl of broth that was brought with my food was also very tasty. I wanted more.To cap off the lunch, I had to order bánh xèo which is very large here. It had plenty of bean sprouts and shrimp. It was very crispy and I loved wrapping it in the greens and dipping it in nước chấm. I prefer the greener leaf (collared green?) over the lettuce to wrap the bánh xèo. Like I said before, in my opinion, Cơm Gà Houston should be on the bucket list of any Vietnamese food lover, whether an H town resident or not. Come try it for yourself!
