2 stars for the salad bar only. Tried this for the first time and sadly we won't be back. Hubby has the ole 97 burger which was.not good. Meal was supposed to come with fries and lettuce and tomato but it did not come with any of those. We had to ask. My ribs were horrible. They were HOT and very hard.to cut. The salad bar was decent. Nothing to write home about. The service was good. But they were not busy as all (that should have told us something). The only thing good was the history behind it. Menu was VERY limited and it advertised as a steak house. It has 2 steaks.on the entire menu that were over priced for the size they were. Sadly this needs work.

The atmosphere is great if you love trains as I do. The building is an actual old railroad station moved to the location. It's stepped up with an outside dining area for nice days. The dining selection is broad and worth saving up for that special outing.

The idea of eating at a haunted railcar restaurant for my birthday was intriguing, we pulled up to see an old fashioned car and a cool looking old train station. We walked in and were seated almost immediately, but we called an hour ahead. Once we sat down the waitress took our order and we got our drinks at a decent time, our food on the other hand was terrible. My husband ordered the French onion soup and the bread in it was soggy, it was lukewarm and it tasted like Lipton. Two of the steaks had to be sent back for being under done. One of the steaks came back and was still medium, it was ordered well done and was the last steak to come out. The steak tips in burgundy sauce had no sauce, the onions were quartered and not caramelized. The mushrooms were quartered button mushrooms that tasted like they had been sitting in water. The salad bar had subpar ingredients to put together the salad and the onions were too big to put on a salad. The kids chicken was undercooked and pink. The kids Mac and cheese was dry and looked like it came out of the Kraft Mac and cheese box. The bread was so hard it felt like you could throw it against the wall and it wouldn't change. The manager covered most of our meal, which was admirable, but I didn't even want the offered free desert based on the food experience I already had. It was opening weekend with new management and I was so disappointed.

First of all I must say this is the cutest little hidden gem in Person County. Second, because they have a train attached to the building I can't stop singing "last train to Clarksville" song. Anyway, the place is very clean and offers true southern hospitality. I got so excited for my first visit I forgot to take pictures. I went with every intent to get a steak but darn it another guest had this plate of spaghetti that looked out of this world. And it was! My friend and I both had the spaghetti that comes with one trip to the salad bar. Salad bar is the freshest I've seen in a long long time, The reason we went to Clarksville Station was for hot fudge cake! They did not disappoint!!! It came out piping hot fudge everywhere moist cake and ice-cream and whip on the side! Oooh I almost forgot the Texas toast with the spaghetti was amazing too! Definitely my new go-to to replace "the other place" that's in Timberlake,

So let me start out by saying I was once a part of a going out to lunch after Sunday service family most of my child and young adulthood. In saying that Clarksville Station was in the normal roation of Fisherman Three(no longer in business), Homestead Steakhouse, and several others. I had not been there in probably 25-30 yrs as I am now 42 and no longer in the Sunday lunch after church circuit. My husband had wanted to try Clarksville's food after the recent bad publicity and new ownership. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised after hearing Mom's poor review of the place I remembered...food not up to par and prices too high. So on to my review, I had the lighter fare tips in burgandy and my husband had the Stationmaster. The lighter fare tips did not come with the salad bar but I got it as an add on for 5.49. ......Sidebar:if you have had the salad bar at Old Country Club in Roxboro it does not compare but I must be spoiled......it was sufficient. The veggies were fresh, there were canned peaches but no other fruit that I saw. No raisins(I realize not everyone is a fan but whatever) and out of croutons. I guess I could have asked for more but wasn't that worried about it. Mike's meal came with the salad bar and as I said mine was an add on. I had my tips medium well and it came with a choices of several sides including fries, sweet pot., baked potato, and something else I honestly didn't pay attention to as I LOVE SWEET POTATO!!! The tips were perfect, no fat, cooked to perfection, and I could drink the sauce they came in. Oh by the way if you don't like mushrooms don't get this dish or eat around them. Mike asked for his steak medium rare as most places cook medium for medium rare and medium well for medium. It was a little under done for him but nothing a cast iron skillet can't fix if you can cook. The ambiance was great, decorated with wreaths and garland for the holidays and our waitress was a gem, checked on us just enough but not in a smothering amount. There eas a gentleman who came by and asked if everything was ok, manager maybe? All in all it looks deserted but isn't, pull up in the parking lot. There were folks coming in when we were leaving at 8:30. Try it out you may also be pleasantly surprised.

We went here for dinner this past weekend and were seated in the bar area with an amazing server! He was really sweet and super attentive! We always had full drinks or whatever we needed. The salad bar is AMAZING! Best salad I've had in a long time! However, my boyfriend ordered the Brakeman's Lantern and he did not like it. However, I tried it and loved it so to each their own! Overall...will be back!

The only thing upscale are the prices! A train car restaurant was a cool idea but it lost it's pizzazz when we entered and the man that greeted us wore shorts and flip flops..!!! We came on Sunday night to a barely empty parking lot which should have been a bad sign. It took two people a minimum of 45 minutes to get our food. A ribeye steak (Engineer's Choice 12 Oz $32.99) was ordered medium and was received rare, returned it and it was received back medium rare. While the outside was charred black. A chopped ribeye steak (Brakeman's Lantern $23.99) was served thin and overcooked. The bathroom was men/women.Plus, plastic table cloths and paper napkins.

Onion soup too salty and too heavy on Worcestershire sauceRibeye sandwich - no option for cooking. Served thin sliced, overcooked, and tough. Poor advertisement for their ribeye steak entreeDid not know sweet potatoes could be smaller than your palm - but they found oneTexas toast served with all meals (per server) so unneeded extra bread to go with sandwich No spoon provided to stir after dinner coffeeWorth $30 - absolutely NOTBooth next to mine contained a lot of restaurant paper work on table with small electric heater and box on floorSo much for ambiance!

Way overpriced for the portion sizes. Brakemans for 24 bucks is nothing more than over cooked shrunken hamburger with a ton of fries and so so salad bar. Almost 40 bucks for prime rib...more expensive than extraordinary restaurant Stoney River in Chapel Hill. Pluses include nice outdoor dining area and very friendly staff. A + for effort on this new restaurant but They need to rethink pricing as it is currently too high for average Person County resident.

Service was good, however, the food from the kitchen was mediocre and the salad bar was as boring as the big pile brown splotched lettuce that welcomed me to the bar (not to mention the spareness of variety). I had high hopes for this newly refurbished business but my party of 4 left feeling ripped off and unsatisfied.
