Sabor A Café Colombian Steakhouse

We ordered catering from Sabor A Cafe for a large party of 50+ people including steak, chicken, rice, vegetables, three types of empanadas, and a dessert of plantains, cheese, and guava paste. Everything was delicious. Elio was easy to work with and helped coordinate everything and arranged for delivery which arrived on time, nice and hot. You get a lot of food for what you pay and our guests enjoyed everything. It was a good thing we had as much as we did because people kept going back and wanted to take some home. Highly recommended for catering quality Colombian food.

The food was delicious but the service was very bad! It took a very long time for someone to take our order. My boyfriend had and I are patient people but it felt like no one was attending to us at all. After our meal was finished we asked for the check and waited another 15 minutes till my man reminded the waiter we wanted our check. I really enjoyed the food but the service needs to improve.

Looking for Colombian food and we came across to this restaurant. I order a fried fish and yuca with a blackberry juice and my boyfriend order the bandeja paisa. We also empanadas for appezitier. The employee is very nice and welcoming. I would come back again. Street parking and there is enough side for a party.

We had a lovely dinner here. We came very early and it was nearly empty, so the sound was fine. It is very small with a stage VERY close to the tables. I have a feeling that dinner while they have live music would be very loud. My passionfruit mojito was phenomenal. Very fresh and not too sweet. I had the steak, which was a bit more fatty than I prefer. However, the sauce for the steak (and the sauce that I kept from the empanada appetizer) was great on it. The empanadas are delicious. We ordered the beef and veggie. Both were full of flavor and crispy.

The restaurant serves authentic and delicious foods from South America Colombia. The vibe is calming and very inviting. The pechuga Al carbon was a flat grilled chicken breast, and the portions were huge. The service was welcoming, friendly, and helpful when asking about the menu. Live music plays on Saturdays in the back area of the restaurant. It's a great place to go with friends and family in Chicago!

Yes, they're that good! Now, I'm more than a bit picky when it comes to food, but these empanadas have won me over completely. In fact, I've tried empanadas in Miami and beyond, searching for a local option that could compare, but nothing comes close to these pockets of goodness!Honestly, if I had to, I'd gladly fly to Chicago and use up all my points just to savor these empanadas. They are simply out of this world.But Sabor A Cafe isn't just about the empanadas - their entire menu is a delightful journey for your taste buds. This place was not good at all. Very overpriced for what they serve. The service was the worse. I guess they were not happy because it was 8 of us, totally understanding. My issue was that one of the waiters was checking on every single table except ours. He brought out a plate and gave a snarky look. I asked if he was ok and he said yeah. We overheard him tell the other table that he doesn't like serving big groups of our ethnicity. We asked for him water and he refused to bring it because he wasn't our waiter. He said "I'll tell your waiter to bring you water because this is not my table" .. does it really kill you to bring water to the table? All I know is that service is horrible and food not even good.

the service is always great here, however the food specifically the steak is never ever consistent. i ordered the ny strip steak yesterday medium rare, it was so well done to the point the meat had turned grey and the cerated knife was not able to slice through. I didn't want to cause a huge issue however it was inedible, upon getting it fixed my steak came back raw, it barely looked like the meat had touched the pan. for the other people i was eating with their steaks were well done as well.this is my second time giving this place a try the first time i went here my friend's and I had steaks that were undercooked and raw and had to be recooked again, its just very embarrassing given this is a steak restaurant. whoever the chef is needs serious retraining if a barely 16oz steak is a challenging for them.

Sabor a Cafe Colombian is delicious and the menu is outstanding. They have homemade in-house chorizo which is truly delicious. The service was amazing and everything came out piping hot. Highly recommend 10/10

I took my wife, one-year-old son, sister-in-law, and father-in-law here, last Mother's Day. I didn't have any reservations, and they weren't excepting any, but was surprised that as soon as we walked in, we were able to get a table.The food was great and you get a very very big plate of food for the amount that you spend, I would recommend skipping breakfast if you go here for lunch or a late dinner. The decorations were really nice and made you feel like you were somewhere else other than in the city.Their service was a little slow, but understandable, with how busy they were, and the only negative experience I had on this place was they didn't keep customers table numbers in order. I found out that they were using table 6 for probably almost everyone in the restaurant so we wound up getting someone else's bill that we had to get corrected two different times. If I was able to rate 4 1/2 stars I would, but it doesn't look like yelp allows me too. I would recommend this place, and I definitely would go again.
