Neighborhood bar. Plenty of Regulars. Divey bar booze prices. Excellent simple basic food. Superbly clean. Open till 2 am on a Sunday AND there are many humans having fun! Monika says, ALL Polish Women make good food. Therefore, the plump housemade PIEROGIS are rightfully & befittingly delicious! The MEAT. My first lightly pickled CABBAGE & MUSHROOM, like a sauerkraut. I'm drooling! I don't mind the $1 add-in for Pan Fry as I prefer it. Plus, 8 pcs is a hearty portion.A Regular Patron said, there is a little something something in the CHICKEN WINGS here. Did you get it? Did you like it? I look forward to it.Just like in Europe, FOOD MENU highly depends on availability.Say HELLO to the beautiful & fabulous MONIKA! The cook. The Bartender. The Barista. Your Girl. ;-)

Food here was delicious. We ordered perogies which were topped with onions and bacon. They were so good! I will definitely be back.

Great food and service. We were looking for authentic Polish food and were not disappointed. The server was very attentive and came by often to see how we were doing. We had the goulash and the Pierogi's and both were excellent. Would definitely recommend this restaurant.

I have no idea how to write this review. First of all, it was a Tuesday night; from 7-8:45 we were the only. two. people. eating.... There were two regulars at the bar watching tv the entire time. One of them kept talking to me while I waited for my dinner guest - and honestly, I didn't want him to. There is, inexplicably, a mannequin in the one window, dressed in 80s clothing - it's completely incongruous. The rest of the decor is kinda neat - a bohemian sorta feel - perhaps with candlelight and ANY more customers it would be better? The only two options for whiskey were Jack and Jim Beam - no rye, nothing else. Drinks were cheap, however, and not watered down. Why 3 stars? The pierogi were actually delicious - 5/5 - perfect dough, tasty fillings, pretty presentation. We waited 40 minutes for the bill - while the bartender/server stood at the bar and gabbed with the other regular....What a strange experience - but I guess if you want pierogi, give it a try?? Honestly, I'd even like to try some of their other dishes, but I can't get past the service and the ambiance.

We waited outside for 20 mins after the restraint said it was gonna open... they never opened and we called several times and they never answered the phone. If you're gonna say you're gonna be open at a specific time. You should. Cuz if not it's super unprofessional.

Milan's or Milano is a little traditional European bar/cafe right on School Street (behind the CVS at Milwaukee and Pulaski). Many evenings our Polish neighbors will be here sitting outside or in the modern (almost sheek) interior drinking coffee and eating sweets during the day or having a cold beer at night so we had to check it out. I love being able to get an espresso, a cold beer, or a good meal at the same place! We went in on an early evening for a cold beer and stayed for dinner. The menu is similar to that you might see in a modern bar in Vienna, Budapest, or Poland. They had three beers on tap (Carlsberg, Okocim, Zywiec) and a full bar. We ordered the Chicken kebab, Hungarian Goulash, and Polish sausage sandwich. The sandwich was awesome and served with fries. The real treat was the Goulash which was prepared with a sweet paprika and red pepper (sweet) sauce. It was not the typical spicy Hungarian Goulash, but the sauce was so good we wiped the plate clean. The chicken kebab came as two large skewers served with potato wedges and a mix of Central European cold salads. The chicken was lightly seasoned and tasted great. The staff were friendly and the little blond woman who runs the place was very helpful. She said they have been open just a little while and that they are not cooking everything they have on the menu. I suggest you ask for the "specials" and see what the cook has going on. We left very satisfied. Now it is a "bar" as well so there might be music or baseball on the TV. This cafe reminded me of the bars or cafes I went to in Europe more than others here in Chicago.I went back in on a Saturday night and it doubles as a disco for young Polish immigrants.. The place was jam packed with Polish men and women dancing and drinking. It was a bit busy for me, but everyone was nice. This "weekend" face was wild. I love all the different "Chicagos" there are to see and experience.

I decided to check out a local restaurant, as I live in the neighborhood and love Polish cuisine. I walked into a wide open dining room, candles blazing on the tables, saying not even a hello, before I was told that the kitchen was closed and given the option of eating elsewhere. Approximately six neighborhood drunks chuckled at me, along with the bartender. On a Friday afternoon. No indication on their website, no indication on their door that their kitchen was open only during certain hours and days. This establishment apparently has no desire to cultivate new or any business beyond catering to day drunks. Sad. First visit, last visit.

Lovely pierogis at 11:30 p.m. on a Sunday. I was the only non-European person there; it makes me wonder how many strongly European places there are in Chicago that are undiscovered on Yelp. This place doesn't have a lot of reviews.I liked the spinach pierogis best; they come with bacon, melted butter and sour cream. Friendly bartender. I didn't feel unwelcome while I waited. I'd probably go often if I lived in the area. It works.
