Edzo's Burger Shop

I originally didn't have high hopes for this place, but it might have the best burger in all of Evanston and possibly the Northshore. What, you say? This place kind of looks run down. Not "dirty" run down, but kind of old looking like other hot dog stands of Chicagoland. You might get sticker shock at the prices for a run down place like this, but the burgers and special cheese fries were phenomenal. They had super fresh ingredients including excellent potatoes and buns. The meat was juicy and they laid the cheese on thick! I would argue that it is worth the price. I would put this burger experience up there with Au Cheval and Kuma's. Really, I am not kidding. This might be the most hidden gem in the hidden gem of lunches of Evanstion. I will be back for sure!

Never had a bad meal from Edzo's and today was no exception. The coffee milkshake is a must for any coffee fanatic! Also, I appreciate the owner making time to chit-chat on a variety of topics. Haven't had that kind of interaction since the days of Hot Doug's, but I'm glad that this type of hospitality still exists out there.

About 8 months ago, the burgers were good. Last order meat was grisly and tonight's order both my husband and I couldn't even eat the burger meat. It was like hard, rubbery filler in almost every bite. We both threw it out before we were halfway done. They were just awful.

I like Edzo's! The staff greets you when you walk in. Then, you order at the table using a QR code. I appreciate that the website is easy to use. The first time I went here with my husband, I ordered a custom burger and garlic fries. The burger was so good and the fries were delicious! I went back again today and had the double double animal burger, pizza puff, and garlic fries. The burger was so juicy and tasty. I'm sad to say the pizza puff and fries were way too oily when they arrived. They tasted good, but it was almost inedible. I will still go back because I think they have good burgers, and I really want to try the other fries. They are a bit pricey, but it is Evanston. Two burgers, a large fry, pizza puff, and two pops cost us $50. Overall, it's a good burger spot.

Got here at lunch and tried one of their vegan versions of a burger. It's the one in Evanston, an actual restaurant compared to the vendor in Urbanspace. Edzo's is known for their burgers, and sides such as fries. Get some good food here even if the prices are kind of high. They may be pretty slow but you should wait because it's better than fast food stuff. Came here and wanted a burger. It's about $9 for a Beyond Burger, the vegan choice. This looks a lot like the real thing. Certainly there's a difference but it wasn't as much as believed. This came with the basic toppings like lettuce, onions, and tomatoes. Looked a lot like a basic burger. This was plant based but it was also satisfying. Could have also gotten fries. These looked basic though so we just got the vegetarian burgers as lunch. Has some pretty good options for making a burger. It has more than burgers however including of course fries and some other sides. This is also a good choice for a group wanting burgers and there's a mix of meat eaters and vegetarians or whatever.

Edzo's was a nice small burger shop. The restaurant was kept clean and the staff were friendly. I ordered the double double animal style burger, fries and a chocolate milk shake. The burger patties were quite small and thin. It was good but average. The chocolate milk shake was amazing! I would come back for the shakes. If I do come back, I would try a different burger.

I visited Edzo's for the second time (first time since 2018) after the Purdue football game on a Saturday around 2:15pm. It wasn't crowded and I was able to grab a table. Kind of a small place and you have to order through a QR code using the Toast platform. Not a huge fan of this, but I understand why as it was just two employees (server and cook). The bun was super soft and the burger patty was good/super crispy. However, I like my burger patties to have more juice to them. Toppings were insanely good. The bacon was extremely crispy and the cheese was super flavorful/melty. I loved the grilled onions and pickle, which both had good crisp and flavor. Fries are extremely probably overly salty, which I love, and they are very crispy. Service was good as food came out fast and the waiter was friendly. I really just hate to have to use the Toast platform as it takes away from the experience, but I get the business decision, which is why it's a 4/5 for me. Food is definitely 5/5. Prices were a little pricey for a fast food place, but it's Evanston, which isn't the cheapest place. I did think that the portion size was big to offset price a bit. They have a lot of burger options and this place is an Evanston staple. It's definitely worth checking out Edzo's Burger Shop! Really delicious polish with mustard and onions on seeded bun. Better than some of the more well known Chicago joints, this place in Evanston was a real find! My daughter really enjoyed the charred Chicago dog. We had one, then were compelled to repeat our order.

Food and service both excellent, a quintessential Chicago burger and dog place. Only reason it's not 5 stars is pricing. I got two hot dogs, a large fry, and a drink. Including tip it came out to around $24, which seemed crazy. But food very good as advertised.

Best burgers, smashed and 8 oz. Cooked perfectly (med rare). Garlic French fries and Nutella shake were so rich! The owner credited our party after I made a mistake using the in-house app. He didn't need to and did it before I could say anything. The renovation is very clean. !
