Carson's - Deerfield

We made a last-minute decision to stop here for dinner on a Saturday night when we were in the mood for ribs, and this was the first place that came to mind.I made a reservation online, we walked in about 15 minutes later, and we were seated immediately. Our server, Rachel, was a superstar.Even though I only had a half slab, it was plenty of food for two meals, and it was really good. I took half home, along with most of my potatoes au gratin. I ate the other ribs and the slaw there, along with quite a bit of their really good bread.My Manhattan, also, was perfectly crafted and delicious. We sat in the part of the dining room that's next to the bar, and it was nice in there. A little bit quieter and more secluded than the main dining room. I think we'll ask for this next time. I'm already looking forward to going back again soon!

Made a online reservation for 6:30 Sunday night. Upon arrival, was told our seats would be at the bar. First of all, if they are giving bar seats, they should tell you before. It was my friend's Birthday, and this was not what we wanted. There were over ten open tables. The guy next to us was talking football, with some guy across the bar. So they were essentially talking very loud the whole time. Ugh. Ordered ribs a bit well done. He failed to get that right. Had to have them redone. By the time I got them back my friend was half done.The twice baked potato, cold. They have zero calorie Heineken but not regular. Who stocks only non alcoholic Heineken. Rib tips are not on the menu, so I didn't order them, But they are available the bar tender told me, after my order arrived. Ummm why aren't they on the menu? Corn bread was good but the butter they give is way small. Had to ask for more. The loud guy next to me...Why don't they give you enough butter for that? They automatically charge 18% tip. We would have given more but once they set a % they get the lower amount. Overall a very disappointing experience.

Living in Chicago for over 40 Carson's was a great place for ribs!Now after building a whole new restaurant! Taking of the free liver and cheese snack while you were waiting, must have changed a supplier the ribs are terrible!!! Very chewy almost gummy.Also continently adding 18% tip to the bill (it should be up to me!!!) the only good thing is that the server was very nice.Carson's Ribs is OFF my list on restaurants in Chicago! Don't bother (twice the ribs were not good!!!). I'm done!New development!!!!!!!The business manager of Carson's added a post that people post fake news and post on web site! Looking for discount!!!Well, that's BS! I'm able to post a real post. Carson's can verify that I was there (Friday night at 5:00pm) I even wrote on the check great service, bad ribs! That's a good way to hide your bad reviews, but, if you go to Carson's you will find out!!! It's not the same.I'm a real customer!!!Look it up Carson's Meir Kehila Visited on Friday!!!I have to give the owner of Carson's credit! I called him Monday morning and he returned my call. Was very apologetic, told me I should have complained at the restaurant, they might have been able to correct the situation! Also invited me back, and ask me to call him first! I might not do that, but at least he tried.

I've been to the downtown location after a nice kayak excursion along the River. I had an excellent NY strip steak salad there and after a walking excursion at the Botanic Gardens I was hoping to get that same salad at the Deerfield location which we discovered was just 2.5 miles away!Upon entering I almost felt like I was downtown Chicago. The interior was very similar. But we were ordering take out and unfortunately on my haste, I missed seeing the steak salad listed on their menu because they had the traditional salads listed and the steak salad was grouped up in a box underneath which I overlooked.Since my friend and I were going to do "take out" we decided to go with the bucket of rib tips and 2 sides. My friend asked for mashed potatoes which she was told they don't serve. The person taking her order I think should have suggested the twice baked potatoes being the closest thing to mashed potatoes (it had been years since I had them and I remember them being quite good and even for reheating). Instead my friend ordered fries as she normally does.Well, I had the augratin potatoes for sides which are good for reheating. But the rib tips were so disappointing. So the description of their ribs on their menu says: NOT "fall-off-the-bone" style. Carson's legendary ribs, chicken, & chops are smoked for hours in a genuine hickory wood-burning pit. Real, authentic, slow-cooked BBQ. After struggling to eat their tough bony fatty scrap pieces of rib tips. The description almost is like a "buyer beware" warning.I'm sorry but I don't care how wonderful the slow cooking flavor comes out, if the cuts of meat are poor quality scraps, they aren't really going to be enjoyable. They were tough and leathery. So very difficult to chew.I was bringing food home to my elderly parents and was too afraid to leave the food with them unattended in fear of them choking. I painstakingly picked decent pieces and scraped off some meaty sections and cut them in pieces.Never again getting rib tips there. From now on I'm going back to Windy City Gyros in Chicago for their rib tips which are very tender and flavorful filled with lovely enjoyably edible collagen between the bones.In the meantime I'm going to stick to ordering the steak salad at Carson's, now that I know they do have it. I know I can't go wrong with that.We found the employees were all very nice and professional here and we observed someone who might be the manager taking a customer off to the side and professionally sticking up for one of his employees. We don't know what transpired, but we admired this manager looking out for his employees. The customer was obviously in the wrong because his wife did agree her husband was wrong.For now the one star is for the rib tips which I found inedible, just too tough to enjoy. I questioned my friend who frequently orders the bucket of rib tips downtown Chicago and she says they are usually good.Well, I can't wait to plan to dine-in here next time we make another visit to the Gardens, so I can get my NY strip steak salad!!!!!

Dear Sir,Excuse me but my family and I were at your restaurant last Friday.If you want to keep your customers. Instead of writing reviews that are so offensive towards your customers try to do a better job.This review was intended to get your awareness on the:1: The quality of the ribs which are your primary focus.2. Charging a party of 3 on their tab 18% included in their bill is not what we are use to.I would have appreciated to have the opportunity to reward my waitress with a tip of my choice.I'm in no way interested , either in going back to your restaurant or trying to get free stuff.I'm just someone that goes to many restaurants. Not only here but actually around the world and review them.Just because I believe that we the customers have the right to go to a restaurant and have an experience not only a meal.Dear Sir.I honestly hope that this will ease your misunderstanding.Respectfully.Astrid Bournas

Everything about Carson's is fabulous! Let me recommend though, the bone-in pork chop. I take customers here and they Always want to come back. Great wait staff. Clean and a great atmosphere. The barbecue sauce is world famous and all the sides I've had were terrific. If you have not tried Carson's, do.

We had to come back! There's something about their nostalgic food, and great service that we just needed to experience it again. This time we decided to get one of their combo plates. My husband got a half slab with the brisket and I got the half slab with the pork chop. The pork chop was cooked to perfection! The barbecue sauce and the char on the chop was tender and full of flavor. I also tried the brisket on my husband's plate and it was super tender and flavorful as well. At the end of our meal, we were handed a warm wet wipe to clean our hands which was an excellent touch. Our server's name is Bella, she was extremely attentive, and made suggestions. We also had a manager stop by to make sure everything was great. Keep in mind that the checks do have an 18% gratuity included but you can always tip additional! :)

Walked in with a party of 5 and were seated without a reservation. Our server was welcoming and attentive. I had the BBQ Marriage (half slab of ribs and chicken) with slaw and au gratin potatoes. It was much more food than I could eat, but it was all good. The ribs were cooked perfectly and the meat fell off the bone. I don't particularly care for slaw, but this slaw was excellent. Next time I'd order a smaller meal, but definitely highly recommend!

Not hyperbole: this was literally one of the best meals in our travels around the world! BBQ chicken, ribs and the salmon was absolutely perfect. The manager was a decent guy who was actually proud of his business -- and he should be!

Food was ok. Party of 4. They add on an 18% tip to the bill. I called and Aaron(manager) said this is what they do, even for 1 person. Tips are NOT mandatory. I told him I would not return and write a review, he's response was Ok.
