"a very popular italian restaurant in wicker park. TLDR; very busy (during peak times with dine-in and takeout orders) with not too much seating, reasonable prices given the huge portions of pasta (easily 2 servings), decent taste.we came at 7pm on a saturday and it was very busy but since we were a party of 2 we got a table in 15 minutes (otherwise 45+). recommend waiting near the restaurant because if other parties don't show up they will move down the waitlist pretty fast.service was decent, a bit rushed and took awhile because it was very busy so understandable. took awhile to get a waitress to order but our food came in ~20 minutes after.// signature farfalle pollo ($18.00) //signature cream sauce pasta with farfalle pasta, sliced chicken, and some sun dried tomatoes and mushrooms. came with one piece of bread and parmesan on top. as mentioned, very huge portions for italian restaurants. thought the pasta sauce would have more of a sundried tomato flavor but it's traditional cream sauce with some chunks of tomatoes. food was not the most hot, borderline lukewarm so it got cold really fast. // strawberry, walnut, and pear salad ($15.00) //good portion for a salad, could be an entree. really enjoyed the combination of strawberry, walnut, pear, and the goat cheese (which ties it together in my opinion).would say it's decent italian food, nothing extraordinary but i would definitely come here for the portion sizes (especially if u want some leftovers (: )"

"From the outside it looks like a rough place, but it's not quite as bad inside. It's a local place for sure but they're friendly to most people. Waterworks is a bar and pizza place in Lyons in a pretty nondescript part of town. Coming to drink and eat here is the only reason to be in this area. The prices are great on drinks and okay for food and pizza. Actually this bar recently had a big renovation because of a fire. It looks much more modern than it used to be, so that's what helps it look better inside. The bar is the main part, and there's plenty of tables. Can still get very crowded. This place is hella loud to be sure. Great drink prices. It was $2 for wells. Got to think it must have been a mistake. Oh well, there's no complaints about that. As for the food, not that impressive but okay for a bar. It's $8 for a plate of some spaghetti. Basic looking. The service is pretty slow, understandable because this is a busy place. Also it's hard to hear. This makes it hard to properly get orders. Good enough for a bar. It's better than it looks from the outside. The drinks are the best things, and there's also pizza and spaghetti."
"Tried their stand in Time Out Market. I wasn't going to stop by here, but they had a sign showing Lamb Meatballs with Favas & Pesto and I had to try it. I'm glad I did because they were delicious! My friend and I both agree that this was our favorite dish out of everything we tried at Time Out Market. The meatballs were packed with flavor and not dry at all. I loved the pesto and fava beans they added to it as well. I would love to come to their actual restaurant to try more of their foods!"
"Fantastic Italian Cuisine at Scratch Pastifico in Barrington! If you're in downtown Barrington and in the mood for some top-notch Italian fare, Scratch Pastifico should definitely be on your radar. The decor is simple yet inviting, creating a perfect backdrop for a meal that promises to impress. The service here stands out as well, with attentive and knowledgeable staff who really add to the dining experience. As for the food, it's absolutely fantastic. Every dish seems to be crafted with care and high-quality ingredients, which makes the slightly higher price point well worth it. I highly recommend wrapping up your meal with the Panna Cotta or the Lemon Tiramisu -- both desserts are a delightful way to finish off a great dining experience. Thumbs up to Scratch Pastifico! Whether you're a local or just passing through, this place is a must-visit. Don't miss out on their desserts, especially the Lemon Tiramisu!"
"I came here for a timeleft dinner and it was great! the restaurant feels very homey and authentic and there is a cute little patio. the service was great--our servers/food runners took the time to explain the menu and the owner's background. RNB stands for Rome, Naples, and Bari! i ordered the branzino alla pugliese and it was divine. the branzino was very moist and tender. the sides were very unique--the zucchini came out sliced very thin and sautéed in a almost soy-saucy sauce. the roasted potatoes were actually a fried mashed potato ball. not what i was expecting but i was pleasantly surprised!"
"I visit Arlington Heights a couple of times a year and have never given it much thought. Chain establishments abound in this affluent suburb, and it's rare I have the chance to experience something even remotely local. So it was with great pleasure that I had the chance to enjoy a recent dinner at Passero. My wife and I picked it purely from a quick Yelp search, and I am really glad we trusted the locals. Passero's food is fantastic, unique while familiar, and perfectly framed by a welcoming atmosphere and extremely friendly service.I particularly enjoyed the Mussels Arrabiatta, which offered an epically high pile of mussels, served in a rich tomato broth, complimented by deep-fried peperonis, which added both a depth of flavor, but also just the right amount of textural contrast to the seafood. The oily, almost greasy slices of bread to dip were perfect, and my only complaint is how little came with the dish.I also REALLY enjoyed the 'It Aint Easy Being Green' salad, which was filled with an unexpected mix of green ingredients. Who knew apples went so well with avocado? This salad was eye-opening and delightful. And to be honest, I actually enjoyed everything, including the several bites of my wife's 'Fusilli Vodka' with a Calabrian cream sauce, that I quickly consumed while she was off to the restroom. While I'm sure she would have offered me a bite had I asked, there was something thrilling about sneaking a sample of the richly seasoned dish behind her back. If I lived in Arlington Heights, or if there was a Passero near me in Ohio, I would likely go at least once a week. It's a perfect combination of service and flavor. Highly recommended!"
"Very much loved my time here and can't wait to come back! Came here for a ladies night dinner with my friends :) Crispy fried artichokes- yes. Actually, just go right ahead and order two of them because they are that good. Kale salad, deliciously balanced with sweet fruits, vinagrettes, and nut butter. Pastas- it was hard to pick because they all sounded so good. Buccatini was basic but delicious. Agnolotti was great too. I'd really like to try the mac and cheese or fusilli next time.Bacon and date flatbread was okay. I'd try the mushroom next time.Finished off with a carrot cake- very yum.The ambiance was beautiful and it was too cold to go outside, which was shortly followed by a storm, though there is covered patio. The dining room became quite full and there was a screaming crying toddler and the parents just kept slowly sipping their wine and eating their food as if the baby's shrill screeches were not impacting anybody else around them. This has nothing to do with The Warbler's staff, but it is a comment that the dining room can be quite loud inside, so maybe not the best place for a quiet intimate dinner or first date."
"Came in at around 2PM on a Sunday and had no wait. Me and my boyfriend were promptly greeted at the door and seated at a booth. We read about a lot of deep dish places in Chicago but a lot of them also highly Recommended the thin crust pizza from Pat's which did not disappoint. The pizza came out extremely quick and the service here is amazing. My water never reached the bottom of the glass and empty plates were quickly taken away. We also ordered the fried ravioli to start and it came with five giant pieces and this amazing tomato salsa. The cheese inside was fresh and hot. The pizza itself was also amazing and I would definitely prefer a thin crust to a deep dish, especially after trying this place."

Tried the pasta bowl dinner deal for $55, which included a salad, an app, two pastas and a dessert. Great deal for the amount of food but overall the food was mediocre. The spinach salad had good ingredients and a decent dressing. We got the cheesy garlic bread for our app and it was just ok. For pastas, we got the chicken Alfredo and the lucky penne. I enjoyed them enough for the price but they were very heavy/oily and I wouldn't be back for either. The cheesecake was our choice for dessert and again, just average. We also made requests in the comments (no mozzarella on my penne, add Diablo toppings to his fettuccini bc it wasn't an option online) and both were ignored.Overall, great deal for the price and quick Italian but certainly nothing to write home about. With all the other authentic Italian in wicker park, don't think we will be back for this one.

It's not Villa Nova. It's not way old school Home Run Inn. It's Rosati's level. No complaints, but growing up on the south side in the 70's and early 80's I have high expectations. They need more garlic in the sauce. Bigger chunks of sausage. I will repeat, but expect improvements.

OMG, Yelp made that list of 15? Best Italian spots across America that will drop ship to you a couple of weeks ago or so.So, had to try 4 flavors of Pastas, each came wiith their own sauce and each one serves two but pretty generous portions. Delicious! Some had more sauce than others but definitely will become a REGULAR of Gemma Foods! The pink boxes of pasta with numbers on top to match the sauce number. Very stylish in packaging and pretty green(eco), using paper/cardboard etc.~which I appreciate.ONLY needed to look up cook times and the sort, back on their website.I think the Sunday Gravy is my No. 1 for me so far....I already see new flavors listed! Can't wait to reorder~maybe when it gets crazy, just after Thanksgiving!Worth trying! Packaging was great in that there was NO Styrofoam! (Yay!)

Trattoria RnB is not your typical Italian restaurant. Their menu is inspired by more traditional, Neapolitan cooking. So if you are expecting your alfredos and chicken parm with lots of sour marinara sauce, this may not be the spot for you.The place is small, with a few seatings inside, and a patio outside. It was quite hot inside, but it was also very hot outside so it probably felt hotter than it actually was. I got invited to try a 10 course tasting menu. But we didn't end up getting all 10 courses because it was tons of food and there was a bit of miscommunication between myself and the staff. Staff was incredibly nice about it and we came to an understanding. I did end up having the opportunity to try so many things. Here is what I tried.I started off with some Italian Taralli, a salty, peppery cracker. It was very dry, and something I didn't really enjoy.I was impressed by the drink selection; although small, every single drink I had was amazing. My first was the Hibiscus Heaven (gin, grapefruit liquor, lemon juice, hibiscus ginger beer). A refreshing drink after how hot it had been that day. My first course was the homemade focaccia with roasted red pepper, roasted zucchini, and artichokes as a topping. The focaccia had olives and cherry tomatoes. I loved it! I think my favorite pairing was the focaccia and the roasted red pepper. My next course was the burrata with flatbread focaccia. I enjoyed this dish; the olive oil, and the burrata really mended well together. I wish I had more flatbread but I was told the burrata is often eaten by itself. I'm not a huge Burrata fan, but I enjoyed the bit I had. Honestly, I feel as if this should come in a smaller portion, depending on how many guests there are.My next course was the Parmigiana (eggplant parm). Which was absolutely delicious! The marinara sauce the eggplant was cooked in is amazing. It isn't too tangy or too sweet. It is perfect and full of flavor. It is one of my favorite evening courses. For the next course, I had a chance to try Suppli for the first time. Fried balls filled with rice and cheese. I was not much of a fan sadly. I understand why people would like this, but the textures were very off for me.Pizza was the next course. A traditional slice of pizza. With garlic, cherry tomatoes and basil. I actually loved it, it didn't have any cheese on it, but the flavors from the tomatoes and garlic really made up for it. You could tell it was fresh out of the woodfire pizza oven, too.We had the chance to try this homemade salad, Vendure Della Casa (eggplant, zucchini, red peppers, artichoke, and frizelle) . It was supposed to be a palette cleanser, but I thought it was way too bitter from the lemon. Now, here is where things went a little downhill because of miscommunication. I never said I don't eat most seafood, it is not an allergy for me, I just don't eat it. I should have properly told the chef this before beginning the tasting. However, despite this. I was still open to trying the things he prepared for myself. I had a chance to try the Cozzo alla Tarantina (mussels with fresh tomato) and the Saute di Vongole (sauteed baby clams). I am not the biggest mussel and clam enjoy-er, but I tried it. Outside of the unpleasant texture, I did like the sauces the seafood was cooked in.By this moment, I could tell the miscommunication somewhat soured the experience. The staff was very kind about it. They offered me my next drink and I got the Sgroppin (lemon sorbet, prosecco and vodka). I really enjoyed this drink, it was the perfect blend of refreshing and smooth. It honestly tasted like juice. One of the highlights of the evening. Our next courses were pasta, and to be perfectly honest. I did not enjoy either of them. I felt as if the pasta was too al-dente. Almost hard too hard to chew. I got the Ziti Spezzati Alla Genovese and the Spaghetti alla Nerano. I enjoyed the slow cooked ragu of the Ziti but I felt like both pastas were undercooked. I only took a few bites before I sent it back.Overall, I enjoyed the tasting. I was able to try new things that I typically would not pay for. Next time I come, I will make sure to properly communicate with the chef.

Enjoyed everything we got from Passero! We did family style and got to enjoy a bit of everything. I loved the mushroom pizza and other apps we got!! Pastas were standard but pretty tasty. Prices were fair especially when splitting everything. Not the type of place you'll have a ton of leftovers after. The drink I got was really good (which was what I would expect at $15 each). Didn't have any of the issues with service that ppl had mentioned before. It was a little loud but quieted down as the night went on.

Awesome patio, drinks and apps! I remember even this space was Bad Dog Tavern waaaay back in the day. I came in after working all day and enjoyed a drink and some flatbread. The patio is so pretty and the staff was so friendly. I can't wait to comeback!

"I placed an online order for pickup here. The food was ready before the promised pickup time and the staff was great. I would say this place is more of casual Italian dining restaurant, rather than a fine dining place. The decor is simple and basic, and the dining room is very well lit. I wouldn't come here for a romantic dinner. None of that is bad in anyway. It's actually quite nice to be able to walk in to a casual place, enjoy some Italian food without a white cloth dinner and candles. The unfortunate part is, you will still be paying fine dining prices here. You won't be getting the "casual" discount here. The pasta here is priced high for the portions you get. But the quality is definitely there. They make their pasta in house. When I walked in to pick up my order, I could see them making the pasta at the front window. Which is always nice to see. We ordered their Cacio e Pepe and their Aglio e Olio. Both pasta dishes were good, but the Aglio e Olio was the best out of the two. The Cacio e Pepe came with the traditional ingredients, black pepper and aged pecorino with bucatini. The Aglio e Olio came with spaghetti, full garlic cloves, chili, parsley and olive oil. This one came with a little heat. Something I usually don't seek in Italian dining, but it's nice to have every once in a while. I eat way too much spicy food, so I try to avoid spicy dishes in certain cuisines. Italian is one of them, the other is South and central American. They don't like spicy foods down there. Overall I was really satisfied with the quality and flavors that we got out of these two dishes. I probably would do takeout again from here, but I can definitely see myself returning to dine in. Yes it's a bit pricey, but the quality is definitely there."
"We had a nice meal here Tuesday, and our service from Kaitlin was very good. It was my first time and I thought the place was pretty cute. They had some good-sized curved booths that could seat up to six, one of which we cozied into. The good was pretty good. We got a few apps, which were pretty inexpensive. I really liked the pear and strawberry salad, which we got with balsamic (normally it's raspberry vinaigrette, which none of us care for). The pasta servings are family size. You could easily get 3 servings from each, but I still found the prices to be too high. $20 for penne vodka? It didn't even come with a protein, and was the same price as seafood pasta. I wanted it, but got the pesto pasta for $16 instead. It was good, in particular the parts with cheese on top, but the leftovers required salt since the pesto itself was a little bland. The Alfredo smelled great and looked rich and creamy. Overall, not in my top 5 for Italian in Chicago, but I may check it out again."
"Outstanding!!!Love the concept , simple menu with excellent options and flavor!!You pick your box size sm, med, large , and bonus these boxes are microwaveable a 30sec spin and you have lunch for tomorrow !!Then you pick your pasta : penne , gluten free penne , farfalle, or spaghetti ...Then your sauce... there are 10 options and you can mix them up too .. also learned they will be adding more sauce options soon. Cold pastas are also available. And for that sweet tooth , cookies and brownies !!Family owned and operated , super friendly and accommodating! This place has only been opened since January and what I can say is that it's a must visit and return visits are also a must !!Really LOVE this place !!!"
"The chicken is tasty, with quite forward jerk seasoning that's hot but not too hot. You will have to chew around the bones, but I think that's part of the classic jerk experience. I was at a loss when it came to the sides, but my ears perked up when the cashier told me that their most popular side was the cabbage -- one of my favorite disfavored vegetables, and it was very good! I'm not exactly saying that it's better than the fried chicken place that used to be across the street (RIP, Budlong) but I am saying that I'll probably be back to try it again."
"My first encounter with Daisies was via the Logan Square Farmer's Market, where I picked up some fresh pasta and sauces from their stand. It was really good, both the pasta and the sauce; they make a brown butter sauce which is the best. The dude at the stand was super friendly and that combined with the quality of the pasta made me a fan. They did a pickup here in Andersonville and that made picking up their goodies even more convenient. My first visit to the restaurant was a couple months ago when they had a collaboration with one of the hot dog places in town (I think it was the Weiner's Circle). They made an elevated Chicago hot dog and I had to try it! It was delicious. It was a croissant-stuffed dog with all the Chicago-style fixings, including a little sport pepper on top as a garnish. I happened to come right when they were bringing an entire pan of fresh-from-the-oven ones to the display and I was next in line. Talk about luck! Their other pastries looked delicious as well, but this is what I came for and for once, it was all I left with.Parking is a disaster on Milwaukee here; I'm not sure if it's ever good. But there's a bus down the street, I believe. The interior of the restaurant looked really nice so I'm sure it would be a lovely place for a nice meal if you dine in."
"Yum!! I've been wanting to check out Professor Pozza for a while now and having out of town guests was the perfect excuse to make it happen! We got a cracker tavern pistachio and mortadella. It was heavy on the mortadella, and I don't think that's my fave, but I liked everything else about it. This was the first time I ever enjoyed a tavern crust. We also got a small detroit white pizza. The crust was a little bit overcooked for my liking (compared to Jets, so take me with a grain of salt lol), but the toppings were perfect. We also had the onion rings as an appetizer.Overall, entirely too much food for 3 people, but great for leftovers lol.I loved it, I'll be back. Pro tip: make a reservation! They're very busy, for good reason!"
"Tried this new place on a cold snowy night in Chicago. It was a solid four stars and worth a shot. Started with the cranberry salad, which was good but some candies walnuts would have made it a little better. The pasta was great. Good portions and tasted great. Tried two different ones and would recommend them both. Plenty of leftovers for lunch. Also got a meatball panini, which I was looking forward too. The meatballs themselves had a sausage forward flavor; which tasted great, but they were overall a little dry to be honest. A little more cheese or some red sauce would have helped. Finally, we tried some of the cheesecake for dessert and it was some of the better cheesecake I have ever had. Glad they are in the neighborhood, would definitely recommend and will go back."
"Service is great the staff is very polite confident and professional The food is amazing!! It's a dine in restaurant suitable for family and friends.. Shake A Leg also has a bar with big screen tv's ... I personally recommend the jerk chicken rolls jerk chicken tacos #9 punch Chicken wingwhite cheddar macaroni Sweet potatoes and the greens these are definitely my favorites."
"It's rooftop and patio season in Chicago and this spot has thee perfect patio for you to enjoy while having some of their delicious Italian Food! You can watch them making the different pastas right inside of the restaurant, which is super cool! They also have a full bar in the restaurant where you can enjoy a glass of wine or a cocktail with your delicious meal!My rigatoni was so good. The pesto sauce on there was perfect and the homemade taste of the pasta makes such a big impact on the meal! I also got some homemade fig ice cream and wow! It was first time having it and it was soooooo good, plus it had pieces of fresh figs on it. Loved it! This newer addition to the Fulton Market area is perfect for the summer! Pay them a visit and tell em that Bri from Planes and Plates sent you! Enjoy!"
"Crust!! We love their crispy crust. Although the phone lines may be busy, the pizza is worth the wait. We usually order a thin sausage pizza and fried buffalo wings: 8 years and no issues to report. Pro tip: order ahead and grab a drink across the street. You won't be disappointed."
"Cheesy Deluxe Panini is really delicious! Nice place, very pleasant staff, great back patio. Will definitely come back."
