A group of us were on our way to the coast, and looking for dinner once we got off of 40, so one of the backseaters pulled out their Yelp app and went on a quest to find us dinner. Carolina Blue Grille came up as an option, and the menu was pretty diverse, so we decided to give it a try.I can say that I feel fairly certain that this restaurant was an Outback Steakhouse at some point in its life. The bar style and booths were pretty unmistakable. What this means is that this place is massive, and wasn't nearly full. We were seated right away, and in general, our service was good while there.We ordered the brussel sprouts appetizer, which we all agreed we enjoyed and was the highlight of our meal. The sprouts were cooked just right, the bits of bacon and the sweet glaze worked together to be quite tasty. We only wished there were more of them.Entree wise, that is where things went a bit sour. I ordered a meatloaf sandwich, as that is one of my favorite sandwiches, and was pretty disappointed. The sandwich that came out was actually more like a burger. Definitely not a slice of oven-baked meatloaf. It felt to me as if meatloaf ingredients were combined together, pressed into a patty, and grilled. Doing it that way makes the flavor and texture off, and that was my experience. On top of that, the onion rings I had as my side used a very strange batter creating another strange taste and texture. I left half my meal on the plate.Around the table, the feeling was that the meals were "fine" but nothing that made us want to stop again, I had probably the least favorable experience. We all felt the menu was maybe too large, and they might benefit from paring it down to focus on really nailing a smaller array of items.

We were greated right away. The place was empty so they said we can pick where we wanted to sit. We sat and waited and waited and waited. It was over 5 minutes before someone came to take our drink order. Mind you as mentioned above it was empty. Placed our drink and app order. The cheese fries were very mediocre. Small portion for the price and the fries were a bit underdone and no seasoning.

My daughter and husband went here before and raved about how good, but the reviews didn't add up so I waited until recently to try Carolina Bleu. Came as a party of 4 adults and 2 children (1 booster, 1 high chair). The staff was very helpful getting us all settled in, so we ordered drinks which were a variety of margaritas. The drinks came out and we placed orders for our entrees. I got a Buffalo Chicken sandwich and my wife got a steak and chicken bowl with all sorts of vegetables. Another in our party got a burger. Nobody was talking because they were so busy chewing. The Buffalo Chicken Sandwich was flavorful and juicy, and my wife's bowl was prepared well and tasty as well. It's easy to over cook proteins that are chopped or cubed, but CB did a great job. I don't know why the ratings, but the service and food I received could not be improved on during my visit. I'm filing this place away as a hidden gem and will be back.

Just moved to Clayton and took my parents here to eat on a Sunday afternoon. The menu looked good, but I was disappointed in my meal - I had the chicken pimento cheese sandwich. I had two fried chicken breast pieces on a toasted bun with pimento cheese on it. Would have been better with one piece of chicken and more pimento cheese on it, but it was cooked well and tasted pretty good. I asked for Mac n cheese instead of fries. They brought me fries and I asked for my Mac n cheese which he brought pretty quickly. It was very disappointing though - tasted pretty bland with a hint of can flavor. I only ate one bite. It was the worst I have ever had. My husband and parents all got burgers. Mom was very happy with hers, dad's was overcooked but still good and husband's was good. The service was very slow and there weren't even that many people there.

I've visited this restaurant a few times now. When it first opened, there was definite improvement needed but I feel they've done an amazing job as they've become more established. The restaurant itself is nice and I love the bar area. The service has come especially far, they are prompt and super nice. I've read some of the other reviews and I do agree that for convenience (I.e not asking your waiter) that there could be salt/pepper and condiments at the table but that isn't a huge deal to me personally. The food is good, especially for the Clayton area in general. I've never had any mistakes with my order and everything has always been prepared well. I'm a little disappointed to see this place only having three stars. I definitely think it's worth 3.5-4 stars and recommend giving it a try! Note: recommend their boom boom shrimp app + wings app (great choice of sauces as well)

This restaurant definitely deserves a try its one of the better restaurants in clayton based on my experiences. The service was top notch and the food was really good. They had a range of budget friendlier options as well as some fancier things. My wife and I split roasted brussel sprouts and pork belly with some absolutely DELICIOUS sauce on them. Then I ordered chicken cordon Bleu for $16 and my wife had some shrimp Cajun pasta for $12. Overall a great night out for no more than $60 with tip. I'll definitely have to try the steak next time around.

Went for lunch with my wife and daughter Monday. I was shocked at 12:30 there was only one other person there. So consequently the service was good. However, the food was terrible. I asked for a grilled chicken salad with no dressing. A grilled chicken Caesar salad drenched in dressing came out. I sent it back n when it came out the lettuce was all wilting. My daughter had a salad with steak on it and it was like shoe leather. Now I understand why no one was in there. Although it was a bad experience I'll probably give them another chance.
