Capitol Cafe

First thing, this is not the Capitol Cafe/Grill of old. It is no longer a greasy spoon. Don't get me wrong, I love a giant griddle top diner. When you first walk in, you are greeted to a full service bar with a few high tops. To the left is a sit down area that has a fresh look. The waitress was delightful and kept the perfect southern sweet tea full and even brought a to go cup without being asked to. The menu is southern inspired and appears to change daily. I tried the chop cheese(think burger chopped and smothered in cheese like a cheesesteak) and potato wedges. Both were just right! Would order again,but not until I try more! My lunch date had the bacon cheeseburger and fries. The burger was good. Fries were meh. ( standard steak fry but unsalted). For us the bill was less than $20. That is hard to find for a hand pattied burger experience.

Awesome food and the server was also fantastic!! We had six people in our group and were served quickly and accurately!!

Only gave two star because the young man who served use who clearly wasn't trained tried his very best. The food was nothing more than thrown together by a 3 year old. I won't go back.

The food was good. The portions were plenty. it was very inexpensive to eat there. The service was fantastic

I am sadly disappointed in what has become of Capitol Cafe. I literally just left there today (1/12/21) and spent $45.00 on 4 bacon double cheeseburgers, one regular cheeseburger, two chili dogs, two fries and a onion ring. The price was not the issue. The low quality food is the issue. After spend $45.00 and waiting 15 minutes for the food I would expect my food to be fresh and hot especially being I was the only customer and they had no call in orders. I should have checked my food before I left. The Chili dogs were old, dry and almost burnt, The fries were old, stale and most of them were so hard you couldn't eat them. SO the chili dogs and the fries ended up in the trash. The burgers were the only decent part of the order. With no other customers or orders there was absolutely NO reason to be given such low quality food. I worked Food Service management for over 20 years and would have fired any cook what or server for giving food like I received today. Capital Cafe use to be one of the best places to eat in the area, Use to. I can say I will not be going back.

The food was very good. The service was lacking. I went in a little after lunch, around 1:30, on a Saturday afternoon. There were 3 people working, one at the register taking orders, and two cooks. There were three tables with people already seated and three in line at register to give food orders. I made my way to the front of the line fairly fast maybe 3 minutes. I ordered 2 burgers and a large fry. It took about 20 minutes to get my order. I noticed there was never anyone that checked on the folks eating at the tables. I probably will eat from there again but only if I call my order in and pick up. Definitely wouldn't recommend eating in. The food was very good though.

Has a good atmosphere and fresh food they are not the healthiest but the food is great

Stopped in for lunch yesterday. Found he food excellent not fancy but very good inexpensive and the service was good as well. Will definitely return.

If you are expecting 5 star food don't come. But if you want good food at a great price with southern hospitality come down. Also supporting the local ownerTheir grits were great, it was very much like a home made meal. Not perfect but delicious. Had eggs and bacon with 1 pancake grits and a side of country ham. Can't complain.
