Calliope's

As someone who is originally from New Orleans, I can happily say that Calliope's has some of the best, most authentic poboys that you will find in Houston! The fries are also pretty good. My friend tried the boudin balls and she said they were fresh and flavorful. The only reason why I give them 4 stars is because the daiquiri that I had was not the best. I would like to try something different the next time I go but the poboys are my favorite.

My wife picked up a bowl of crawfish etoufe. It was very very good, I got a taste of it and wanted more.

So glad we tried this place. The food is hot and fresh! The gumbo is really good and the crawfish boil was perfectly seasoned.

Just had a bad experience at what seemed like an "authentic" New Orleans restaurant. I ordered a large po'boy to go and ask them to cut it in half and wrap the halves in two separate sheets paper. This is a simple request and anyone from the city knows this is done all the time on to go sandwiches. Alex (cashier) told me this is not something we can do. Then proceeded to tell me if she did it that way she would have to charge me for two smaller po'boys which would increase the cost of the sandwich by 40%. I was like, huh? Maybe you didn't hear me correct... what I am asking for is simply one extra sheet of paper for the sandwiches to be split in two. She said yes, I know but we can't do that. I then tried to explain that wrapping paper is like asking for an extra fork or an extra straw for my drink. I asked her would she increase the price of my drink by 40% if I asked for an extra straw. She said no, but proceeded to said that's not something they can do here. Again I was shocked and asked her to call the manager. The manager wasn't present, but I convinced her to call them before I wrote this review. Her response was illogical in my mind. She came back 4 minutes later, said she just talked to the owner "Soline" and she said don't do it. Again, I was flabbergasted. Is someone trying to prank me?!? If this was truly an authentic New Orleans restaurant, this ask would have easily been accommodated. Is a sheet of butcher's wrapping paper really more valuable than a satisfied customer? It's a sheet of paper Soline. You should never lose sight of the Customer Experience! It's what will keep-you-in or kill your business. Remember, you heard it here first.

Tried this on a neighbors referral and while I'm open to try almost anything, I probably won't be back here. The food was just a bit too bland. The wings were super salty. The gumbo was flavorless. The rice was the best part and the shrimp po boy was decent. The strawberry lemonade was great, probably the best thing there.

Food is hot and delicious and portions is good.The service is awesome.Place was clean and friendly.

Great food. The area is a little sketchy. Had a bum ask for money right when I got out the car.

I have been here many times and absolutely love it. I always get the oyster poboy because it never fails, but this time I tried the fried rice with their yellow sauce and it is incredible. Can't wait to try more!

Stopped in for Fish n Shrimp . Good location, limited parking. Nice clean small spot. The young lady at the register was very helpful and friendly. I forgot to ask for the 15% discount I was given on Yelp.The meal is good but Toasted Garlic Bread Badly needed.

I had the grilled shrimp platter. It was really good. A couple of the shrimp were slightly overcooked, but not enough to be upset. The accompanying vegetables were awesome. The plain old slice of bread seemed kind of random--maybe try serving it as garlic butter toast?Overall good value for the price: the platter and a drink were around $16-17.I will definitely return here.
