As I sit here on having a "Sunday Funday" for one, sipping a deliciously bitter yet refreshing Mastiqua (a Greek sparkling water that's good for digestion), I find myself very content with the vegan dolmades, spinach pie, and the glass of white wine I just finished. It's a beautiful and hot day in Coconut Grove and this corner gem, nestled in a still old-school style coconut grove (iykyk) with its eclectic Greek music and euro-style seating is perfect for people watching and delicious eating. As an advocate for solo dining experiences, this one is a must try for your weekend itinerary. The service is nothing but sweet and genuine--it's clear that this business' staff wants you to enjoy your time. The food is delicious--as a spanikopita lover, the filo dough is flaky, not greasy, and the filling is perfectly savory with a hint of tartness from the cheese. And please, if you are a sparkling fan lover and don't mind bitter tastes, treat yourself to a mastiqua!

Located right down the street from cocowalk and the Mayfair hotel this quaint little place has just the thing to break my and my daughters fast from the night before. We have many allergies including gluten and we were able to find food on the menu that kept us from grabbing our epi pens. The seating outside was ample and allowed us to people watch and enjoy the beautiful views of Coconut grove. We recommend this place for a quick morning meal and will certainly check it out again next time we visit the coconut grove area.

Cute greek coffee shop in Coconut Grove! I like that they are versatile, you can go for a quick coffee break or a happy hour wine break. Follow their instagram as some days they have live music. They have bistro style outdoor seating, and great drinks & snacks.

The ambiance outside of the cafe is sooooooo cute! the aesthetics alone drove me to cross the street and check it out. There are tables outside for people to sit in the shade and enjoy their coffee. Inside is clean & more of a grab-and-go situation. I just got an espresso but the wraps, sandwiches, and croissants behind the glass counter looked so delicious. I'd love to go back and try out more!

I'm so happy that Calista Cafe opened in Coconut Grove! It is exactly what the neighborhood needed. A small, cozy, unique café that takes you on a little trip to Greece. The staff was exceptionally kind and the quality of products was great. The Bougainvillea on the outside, really captures the essence of the islands of Greece. I look forward to coming back and seeing what additional treats one can indulge in.

Homemade Greek food but in a French Cafe setting. This small cafe/market is tucked away on a tiny little street in the heart of Coconut Grove. A combination of delicious homemade Greek food (their Spanokopita is amazing!!) and delicious salads and sandwiches, makes this the perfect spot to meet friends or grab a coffee.

I'm a Miami visitor, but I would describe this as a neighborhood gem. It's conveniently located on Española Way and the Lowes hotel. The walk is alone is lovely. As someone that appreciates Greek food, I enjoyed the variety of authentic high quality Mediterranean choices. We went with a Greek salad, saganaki (fried cheese and always a must), keftedes (meatballs), calamari, octopus, and zucchini chips as a starter. With the first bite of my salad, I could taste the quality of the olive oil (if you know you know) and the feta was just right. The saganaki (flaming cheese) was delicious--perfectly crisp on the outside and gooey cheese on the inside. The kids loved it. Everyone enjoyed the keftedes meatballs so much we had to order two. The size of the meatballs are generous and seasoned deliciously. I definitely recommend the zucchini chips, as this is something you don't find often and they tasted amazing paired with the housemade tzatziki. For the main course we chose a fresh branzino fish that was enough for the table to share. The boned are removed and serviced with the head, which is customary for Greek dining and appreciated from this crowd. It was flavored with simple herbs--lemon and olive oil--and was light yet filling. After enjoying a coffee and making room for dessert, we tried the Galaktoboureko. Let me tell you, it's like Yiayia use to make!Calista Taverna
