I go in this area so often but never went in. We decided to stop in and it was actually a pretty decent experience, I would definitely go back. When I went I wasn't fully hungry so I couldn't give them the benefit of the doubt on the food but I feel like I should. So it's an establishment that you go to for vibes. They have a lot of live music, at least 4 days a week. Thursday and Friday have a type of music and then Saturday and Sunday have another type but you have to actually check with them to see what kind of music or band they're going to be having for that day. It could be blues, it could be rock, it could be a number of things So if you're in the live music and don't mind some alternative music options, this could be for you.It has an indoor and an outdoor area, but of course in the winter time you're not going to want to go ahead and do the outdoor unless there's a heater out there. But the indoor is decently big. They have a bar area, and on the other side of the building there is a normal seating area which is in front of the stage. It's set up really nice in the restaurant, has a lot of Creole and nautical decorations to match the theme of the business. The bar has a full bar situation, it's not a lot of liquor there but there's enough to make some drinks. They have a actual bar and then they have a liquor cabinet which is really strange for a business to have a liquor cabinet lol. But it's actually cool and gives a cool vibe.I tried to calamari, it was actually really good. Maybe not worth the price but nonetheless I thought it was pretty decent. But at a seafood spot you're going to get a lot of things that are priced in the upper ranges because of that. My friend had the fish po-boy. I don't need fish so I don't know what kind of fish it was, maybe cod, I'm not sure. But it came with fries and a remoulade sauce as well. So the calamari was good, the french fries are okay, I didn't try the fish sandwich but he said the fish sandwich was pretty good. It could have used something else aside from the remoulade, because it was a little dry, but he said it was at least flavorful on his end.So when I got there the band was setting up and I believe that they play from 7:00 till 10:00 at night or 7:00 to 11:00 at night on the days that they do have live music. There's plenty of seats, there's seats right in front of the stage so you can really get a good view. I know that Wednesday is a jam session, I'm actually not sure what that means, but it could be any type of music in the potential behind that is pretty cool.In anything, I would go back just to try some more of the food and maybe check out that jam session. I'm real skeptical on New Orleans style food in places that are not New Orleans, but it's close enough to my house where I can give it a try and not necessarily bad at eye at it if it's not that great. But so far the food that I had was good, and they were very nice as far service goes so it's worth me giving another shot.Patio has

I was in the area and happened to see Cajun Blues and decided to stop in for a quick bite. It was around lunchtime on a weekday. There were only a handful of people in the restaurant. Rita (Auntie) told me I could sit wherever I wanted, so I sat at the bar. She gave me the run down of the restaurant; everyone is family. I really liked that she makes it a point to get to know everyone and make the restaurant kinda like Cheers. I ordered the fried calamari and char grilled oysters. The food came out pretty quickly and was good. The oysters could've been cooked a little longer. They tasted like raw oysters topped with baked Parmesan. I will definitely be back for the live music and dinner.

I've come here a couple times since I live in the area. The first time was because I was craving some fresh oysters. The oysters were great and the bartender, Cory, was very nice and accommodating. The second time was to grab a drink and hear some live music. It was more packed but I had a good time. The same bartender was there and made sure to provide me with a much needed libation. The music was also really great. It was nice to sip and hear some live music. I also appreciated the cleanliness of the ladies restroom. Sometimes those things are a toss-up at restaurants. I look forward to coming back for more live music, drinks and to try more dishes.

Cajun food and live music - you can count me in every time! This place was a hit all around, from the food, the service, and the music. We came on a Thursday, in which they have an open mic night. The music was lively and definitely fit the atmosphere of the restaurant. They just added a stage outside and had plenty of seating available for guests. It started getting packed around 8pm. You can chose to sit outside at tables, outside on the covered patio, or inside the restaurant.I ordered the hushpuppies and "Louisiana" Spicy Gumbo to start. The hushpuppies were cooked perfectly and the gumbo is absolutely delicious. It may be the best gumbo I have had in Atlanta. It was the perfect consistency, seasoned perfectly, and had plenty of meat. You can order a cup or bowl and we ordered the bowl and split it among three people, which was more than enough. If you are sensitive to spicy foods, I would not recommend or would ask if they could tame the spice. For my main, I ordered the Shoyster Po' Boy, which is a combination of fried shrimp and fried oysters. It was fantastic. No skimping on the seafood in this dish either. They were not overcooked and the batter was just right. The flavor of the sandwich was delicious and I highly recommend. It came with fries and coleslaw. My wife ordered the Snapper Po' Boy and it was just as good as my Shoyster. She loved it. I feel that I do have to add one con: the drinks are not cheap whatsoever! A couple of people at my table ordered Bud Light, and they are $8/ bottle (12 oz.). I felt like I was at a stadium.Needless to say, we will be back and we are looking forward to another fun evening at Cajun Blues!

Gave me food poisoning. I called them about it and I'm still waiting on a call back and apology. Never eat here. The ambiance was ok but they clearly aren't sanitizing or serving quality seafood . Sorry not sorry. Spent Mother's Day n the hospital

You can find Cajun Blues at 2197 Savoy Dr, Chamblee, GA 30341 - this was the former long time location of the Mad Italian (who moved west on the same street to acquire a larger location). There's some limited parking out front and to the rear of the building, but just like when it was Mad Italian it can be hard to find a space - might be worthwhile to park nearby and uber to the location. There are lots to each side but some of the towing services might grab your vehicle so be warry. The interior of Cajun Blues has the same chopped-up spaces that Mad italian had as it expanded into the covered patio and into the various rooms - on the one hand it does make things a bit more private, on the other it might make it difficult to see the live music (which may drive your visit - the band usually sets up between the dining room and the extended covered patio - although most recently they've been setting up a stage outside - which impacts available parking - duh).I have a neighbor who plays drums in a local band who first invited me to attend Cajun Blues - we used the opportunity to also try the food. The place was busy so the food took a while - as did the initial service - the places is pretty new so no marks against them for that - they seemed very conciliatory to the wait. Getting our checks was a bit of a mess - first it took the server about 20 minutes to get back to our table and then another 20 minutes to get the check - you would think they would want to turn the table? For food we ordered:* cajun sauteed shrimp as a starter that were quite good - they seemed to be closer to Viet-cajun in execution with tons of spicy butter but they were the highlight. * Fried calamari - these were all rings breaded and fried served with cocktail sauce - I'd say they were well cooked (not overcooked) but the portion seemed a bit light.* Fried Chicken Salad - these were mixed greens covered by a chopped up breaded and fried chicken breast. Nothing too special and filling - did have a lot of iceberg lettuce in the mix.* Fried Shrimp Salad - as above only with shrimp - breading was more of a cornmeal breading - good, a little plain but the dressing helped a lot so it may be a good combination for most.* Catfish Po Boy - this was pretty exceptional - hot juicy fish in a crusty coating topped with a spicy aoli mayo - liked this a lot. It came with a tiny portion of slaw as a side - we said something about it and they brought out a larger portion.* Bulgogi Po Boy - ordered this cuz, why not? The bulgogi tasted fairly authentic - made me think the restaurant may be Korean owned? In any case, great combination. We tried a few beers - I settled on Monday Night's Blind Pirate - it seemed to go with the food well.In all I thought the food decent, the venue for music good but the service sub-standard (however I'm discounting that as the venue was new to live music and only recently opened) - call it a 3.5/5 rounding up to 4 as I think it will improve with time. I'll update on my next visit.

I'll keep it brief because I don't think this place will be here in 3 months. The service was slow. While the food wasn't bad, certainly not worth the price. The live band outside was pretty bad. The few tables sitting outside watching the band must have just been friends of the band. Our waitress told us the "chef" would not even cut our sandwich in half much less put the toppings on the side. She said they could put the sauce on the side but they didn't. Forgot to bring us salad dressing. We had to find our waitress to take our order and then get our check. When she came with the check she had a handheld for credit cards, but then still walked away with my card which is quite suspicious. I'll be watching my statement carefully for sure. Just please save your money and time. Plus you can contribute to shortening the time this establishment takes up valuable restaurant space.

Hidden Gem. The crawfish are simply amazing. The closest thing to authentic I've had since leaving Louisiana. I'm afraid this place might close down soon because I never notice high traffic. But I promise the food is bomb!!! Please give it a try if you're in the area.
