Byrd's Barbecue

The food here is so amazing! It doesn't matter what you order it'll be delicious. I ordered the barbq pulled pork plate with Mac n cheese and green beans and the. I had some type of desert that was over the top!

We stopped in on the spur of the moment to grab some lunch. The restaurant is inviting, and they have a great parking area. When we went in, the man running the register was really nice and seemed happy to see us. The dining area was clean and inviting. Our food was fantastic! Pulled pork, mashed potatoes, green beans, macaroni and cheese, potato salad was all excellent! We will definitely be back.

I stopped by today and got my lunch platter to go. I opted for the large brisket with mac and cheese and green beans as my side. I almost forgot about the hush puppies that came with it-they were on point! The food was delicious! The brisket was sooo flavorful! I don't usually spend as much as I did today for lunch, but I don't mind paying more for a good meal and this was a wonderful meal that left me enough leftovers that I ate the rest for dinner! Service was great and very efficient as there was a bit of a lunch rush. I love that the location has a simple family vibe that staying and eating there would have been enjoyable. I am overdue for coming through to get a breakfast bowl-I have not had one under the new ownership but that is such a unique menu option-grits, eggs, meat(I always got double meat-bacon and sausage!). Thank you and keep up that great service, cozy atmosphere and awesome food!

The staff is amazing!!! Such beautiful people with beautiful personalities. So welcoming! The food is delicious!! Best bbq sandwich I've had in the Triangle! OMG! Chicken salad is soooo good!! Fries are fresh and taste great!! Sweet tea is true sweet tea...southern style. This place is the bomb diggity!!

I've heard of Byrd's over the years, but have never been as I live quite a long way away. I learned today they have new owners as of about six months ago. Not all things that used to be avail are on the menu anymore, but it still looks like quite a lot to me!It's a small place with about eight tables for four on either side of the dining area when you enter the front door. Very clean and bright with lots of windows.Onto the ordering counter and I encountered a friendly young man who couldn't have been kinder and more patient in answering all my questions as a newbie.It was still breakfast time and decided to stick with that even tho he said I could get some bbq if I wanted. I got a bacon, fried egg, and cheese sandwich on Texas toast. Everything was cooked perfectly and hot the spot. It's obvious they have lots of regulars as most who came in knew everyone's name whether getting orders to go or to eat in. It's nice to have loyalty that passes from one owner to another. I actually came over to buy a couple jars of blue cheese dressing from the recipe of the old Hartman's Steakhouse. I never made it to the steakhouse before it closed down years ago, but do love blue cheese dressing. If it's that good to start selling it again I had to get some!As soon as I got home I made a salad and typed it with the blue cheese dressing. It was very tasty and I'm sure will make those who grew up with it very happy to have it again!

Fabulous barbecue and sides, THE BEST banana pudding I have ever had!! Very friendly, excellent food, and great casual atmosphere. Highly recommend!!

First off, I'm glad that I came here for lunch. The hospitality itself deserves a 5-star! The folks here are so kind and sweet. From the people working in the front to the ones in the back, preparing the food.The food is just as great. I ordered a BBQ pulled pork sandwich, fries, and sweet tea. The pork was tender and loved the bark on the ends. It was all delicious! The slaw was perfect and the vinegar base bbq sauce was the MVP! I appreciate this place serving two types of sauce. I was so tempted to try the specials for the day, they had pork ribs and brisket for the day but I was just too full to handle any more food. I can't wait to stop here again for another bite to eat. I'm going to bring some friends with me next time.

I cannot recommend Byrd's Barbecue enough to anyone that is in the Durham area!! I was looking for an authentic BBQ place while visiting Durham for the weekend and was recommended Byrd's by an Uber driver who claimed it was an amazing local spot with the best BBQ. I decided to take her advice and could not have been happier! The service was exceptional -- James was truly the kindest business owner I have come across and the staff continuously checked in on us and even offered to try a sample of different menu items that we did not order. The BBQ was absolutely DELICIOUS! The best BBQ we have had in a long time. We wished we lived closer to Durham so we could visit this spot regularly, but will definitely be back again. Amazing ambience with plenty of seating options for families. The banana pudding was so delicious we had to get another one for the road! Please come check them out!

CLEAN! well cared for restaurant with cheerful employees and delicious bbq. What is NOT to like? We were just driving through on our road trip and we are so glad we stopped at this gem! We tried just about everything on the menu and it was all excellent!!
