The majority of my rating of By George is based solely on the service we received. Shavon was great! She had great knowledge of the menu, was very receptive to our questions, and was overall very helpful.The ambiance of the restaurant gave "fancy business meeting" but this place is definitely a place to try for dates, anniversaries, etc.The Location:Located inside the Historical Candler Hotel. If you valet, they will validate it for you at no charge.The food: The buttermilk muffins are GREAT when warm...The lamb chops are small in serving size but packed with flavor...The Tempura Fried Lobster is a star worth all of the recognition!!The Drinks:The Woodruff Paloma was light and refreshingAsa's Old Fashioned was classically mixed and was everything expected..!!Final Thoughts? .... If you haven't been, please go. This restaurant is worth the trip

I had expected so much more based on its locations We only came for drinks and found the bar to be very nice. There isn't a lot of seating and people were saving spots so we sat on a couch. There were 7 guests and 3 bartenders so service should be quick. Nope. He did bring menus over quickly but then went back to talking to the other bartenders. Finally came and took our order. Again, chatting with the other bartenders instead of making our drinks. Drinks are served in chilled glasses which was nice, but the glasses are small for the price of the martini. Not the best lemon drop I have had.Maybe 2 more guests arrived, but our bartender never came back over to see if we wanted another drink and I had to stand up and wave to get his attention to bring our check. Customers first then hang with your fellow co-workers. This concept seems to have been lost in training.

First I'd like to thank our server Rodney for his stellar attitude, accommodation and help navigating the city! We loved our breakfasts, but wanted to touch on service with Rodney. My friend and I asked for assistance ordering, finding fun or interesting attractions and Rodney hand wrote a list for us- thank you!! He also made us to go drinks to walk with in the warm weather and even shows us the formula vault which was so special.

Wow, I think unfortunately we ordered the two worst options for brunch. Chicken and waffles? More like sweet and sour chicken meets school cafeteria nuggets, all it's missing is the pork fried rice. Surely this cannot be the same meal others have had. Just looking at my picture and others with the same meal, either the chefs got lazy or they had to substitute this chicken for soggy cafeteria food. The eggs benedict instead of using traditional Canadian bacon, used charcuterie prosciutto which added unnecessary salty taste.We did try two MUCH better options, the Croque Madame is excellent (not sure why they didn't use this same ham on the benedict), and the biscuits and gravy (nice gravy but a little on the thinner side for me).

By George, a restaurant named after the building architects, sits in the Candler Hotel, an iconic building on Peachtree in Downtown Atlanta. I stayed in the hotel so trying the restaurant is a must. The Candler building was built by Asa Candler, the Coca Cola founder. DCandler commissioned two architects, George Stewart and George E. Murphy to design the building. Both George.The ambience is beaux arts with tall marble pillars and crystal chandeliers. Everything is accented in gold. The food is contemporary American. I enjoyed the arugula salad with salmon. It was delicious. A perfect lunch. I also had the Asa old fashioned and the cheese plate later on that day. This spot boasts an extensive wine list and both a specialty cocktail and traditional cocktail list. Service was all fantastic.

I don't like making negative reviews, but feel compelled to do so after our experience. The cheese board was laughable (7 Keebler crackers with cubed cheese, all of which were unevenly cut). Meatballs were cold. Filet was analogous to O'Charleys sirloin and so tough. Sautéed spinach was barely wilted and a salt bomb (coming from a person who likes heavily-seasoned food). Three people at our table ordered the filet: one of which was grilled, the other pan seared, and the third both pan seared and grilled. I kid you not. Also, the temps in the steak completely missed the mark. While the place is beautiful and cocktails were good, By George requires serious and immediate reform.

Delicious Old Fashioned drink.The mixologist was very professional and personable.The cheese platter was also very good.

I was never a fan of a hotel restaurant, but this is truly an exception! Parking is a little challenging, but the food options are good. The lobster roll was delicious although a little small. The fries were very crispy with a slight seasoning, but a little reminiscent of Burger King. I enjoyed the lobster roll with the hints of lemon. The highlight was certainly the ambience and old-school marble! A little pricey, but it is part of a hotel after all.

This is a charming restaurant with great food and service. Shakay was a kind server. The only downside is that the manager and hotel staff behave very weird about taking photos, which ruins our time as travelers who just want to document our visit here. They also double charged my friend after we departed, which is a bit sketchy.

My husband and I had brunch here before heading back home from our vacation in Atlanta. I was super surprised at how lovely this restaurant was. I loved the decor and service was superb. I forget our waiters name but he was super attentive to all our needs. Food was great too! We will be coming back for sure.
