I wanted to really like this restaurant, but ultimately it fell flat for me. The service was immaculate. We were definitely well-taken care of. The ambiance is awesome, semi-upscale and looks to be the type of place that business meetings occur on the daily.I went for my birthday dinner and while everything else was great, as a whole group, we were really disappointed in the food. Unfortunately, there wasn't much that could be done as we put our orders in JUST before the kitchen closed (which is apparently at 8p on Tues nights). My group ordered crab cakes, gumbo, the pork chop, Gulf Fish Pontchartrain, the Pecan-Crusted Gulf Fish, the gouda and andouille mac n chz, & collard greens. Everything aside from the Pecan-crusted fish and the mac & chz, was not great..woefully underseasoned and underwhelming. The crab cakes had far too many shells in one order and were underseasoned. The Gulf Fish Pontchartrain was just ok. The pork chop was so dry that it was barely able to be swallowed comfortably. The collard greens had candied bacon in them, which is usually fine, but it made them cloyingly sweet. I mean- super sweet! They were the worst part of the meal. I expected absolutely exquisite food for the price point, and it simply did not happen.

Ohh what a night (actually afternoon) at Brennan's this past Saturday (final Saturday in Jan.2024) for my friends 55th Birthday. She reserved the Chefs table for us and we had a TIME from start to finish. I'll start from entry, this location put you in the feel of NOLA via the look and location. The staff has great southern hospitality, very welcoming and the bar area is very open air and bright just like I like outlooking the NOLA themed courtyard. The journey to our table from the bar to the chef table was visual and fun as we walked through the kitchen and wine cellars and more. The chefs and all kitchen personnel were amazing from start to finish as they explained and perfectly plated each course we indulged in while providing history and suggestions on pairings. The food was amazing from the summer shrimp salad to the Scallop and grits to the lobster bisque to the blacken red fish and all the many desserts.I will be back to Brennan's for sure and I suggest you check them out.

Was I blown away? No.The service was IMPECCABLE, but the food left a lot to be desired. If I were to do it again, I'd pass on all but the salad and oysters.Maybe I missed out on the turtle soup and the desserts?

Weird start to the dinner. There seemed to be a miscommunication between the hostess and seater. As we were being brought to our table, the seater asked our party number and then just left us standing on the side without saying anything and walked away. Communication could've been better regarding setting up an extra seat for the table. Luckily the rest of our experience at Brennan's went smoothly. We had an amazing waiter, John, who has a great personality and sense of humor! A New Orleans cocktail (Vieux Carré) hits the spot. Never had anything like the crabmeat cheesecake; very unique. The chili fried gulf oysters were another delicious appetizer. Soups (gumbo & cauliflower cheddar = soup of the day) were tasty as well. Would definitely order gulf fish pontchartrain as an entree again! Cool experience watching how the bananas foster was made; a great dessert choice. Overall, this is a good restaurant to dine at and celebrate a birthday.

We always love going to Brennans. WE went today for family Easter brunch. Turtle soup. Strawberry salad. Poached eggs on crab cakes. Fresh fish. Banana's Foster. Strawberry shortcake. Always delicious. I do have a little quibble though. I once lived in Louisiana - my family still does - and commander's palace was our "special " dinner place. There is a big difference in service between the two. At commanders, every one's food is served at the exact same time. You can hardly take a ship off iced tea before somebody refills the glass. Same with the original Brennans in the French quarter. Houston Brennans just doesn't have that level of service. Don't let that quickly stop you from going because the food is excellent, the dining room is really relaxing. The Jazz band is just the right balance of being entertainment and volumes. It's a great place. I understand that commanders service is hard to replicate but they're all in the family so I expect more. I think Miss Ella would too.

We celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary at Brennan's on May 2nd. The Gulf Fish Pontchartrain is always perfect and the crab cakes are the best in town. Our server, Thomas, has been with the restaurant for many years and is very attentive. This "Old World" elegance is so nice to experience. We enjoyed a great Pinot Noir from Domaine Serene and at the end we enjoyed bananas foster prepared at the table as well as Cafe Brulot.

Came here for Restaurant Month with a friend of mine. For $25 for two course meal, I thought it was a great deal given the restaurant's reputation. I had their Creole Campechana. I thought it was a nice balance of seafood with the rest of the ingredients. The chips were too thick in my opinion, but they were really good. I then had their Grilled Salmon, which sounds simple, but was executed well. The slice was thick and it was so moist when you slice it. I would come here again for the dessert, but I was too full by the time I was done with the salmon. The service was excellent. There was valet available. I would come again to try their dessert. There was a small band that went to each table if they had a celebration. They even sang "Wheels on the Bus" to a toddler!

Service was amazing!! Valet parking outside is 5$. Unfortunately, came for Houston Restaurant week and was not as impressed with the food. Gumbo was not as well spiced as I would have preferred. Campechana was refreshing. Fried chicken sandwich was a little bland and had a little spicy sauce that made it slightly better. Creole butter salmon was also very butter forward with not enough seasoning. Beignets were super yeasty with almost an alcoholic aftertaste...25cent martinis tho!

I was raised on Brennan's of the New Orleans variety. This was my second time at the Houston location, and it does not disappoint. The service was impeccable despite crossing into it being the time between services, and the atmosphere was lovely as always - I love the amount of natural light that comes in.Strawberry fields for a drink was refreshing, the gulf coast oysters were better than I expected (I'd never had raw gulf coast oysters), shrimp and grits is a favorite of mine, and if I could have banana foster on a daily basis without gaining weight, I would. All in all, a wonderful experience and already trying to figure out when I can go again!
