The service and the place is beautiful and good. The food is honestly pretty good! The menu doesn't have too many options but somehow it worked out well!! Try the Haven burger FOR SURE! The bun, sauce, fries... all amazing!!Their dessert are also always delicious! The first time we went there we tried sticky toffee pudding which was essentially a cake with ice cream, it was delicious and shareable! The drinks are also awesome! In general it is such a cool place! Try it out

I love this spot. They have a nice private patio as well a cozy indoor dining room. I was pleasantly surprised by the menu, which made me forget I was at a bar restaurant. The salmon had crispy skin and was served with a quinoa tossed green salad with a delicious dressing. The fried garbanzo beans added a nice texture. It is a place to linger so I went ahead and ordered the whiskey creme brulee. Everything was spot on including the service.A five minute walk from the orange T line and in the same complex as the Sam Adams tour.

The Haven: A Cozy Slice of Scotland in Jamaica PlainIf you find yourself wandering through Jamaica Plain in Boston and your stomach starts to rumble, do yourself a favor and head straight to The Haven. This Scottish gem offers an atmosphere that feels like a warm embrace, combining the charm of a Scottish pub with the vibrancy of a neighborhood favorite. The moment you step inside The Haven, you're greeted with a cozy, welcoming vibe that makes you want to settle in and stay a while. The decor blends traditional Scottish elements with a touch of modern flair, creating an ambiance that's both nostalgic and fresh. Think tartan patterns, warm lighting, and a relaxed, friendly crowd. Now, let's talk about the star of the show: the food. The Haven's fish and chips are a must-try. Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and perfectly seasoned, it's a dish that embodies comfort food at its finest. Each bite takes you on a culinary journey straight to Scotland. And then there's the crafted black ale, Old Engine Oil. Rich, smooth, and with just the right amount of bitterness, it's the perfect companion to your meal. This ale is robust and flavorful, making it a great choice for those who appreciate a good craft beer. The staff at The Haven are another highlight. They're friendly and attentive without being overbearing, striking a perfect balance that makes you feel well taken care of without feeling rushed. Their laid-back demeanor adds to the overall relaxed atmosphere of the restaurant, allowing you to enjoy your meal at your own pace. One thing to keep in mind is the parking situation. It's a bit tight, which is typical for the area, but manageable depending on the time of day. If you plan your visit during off-peak hours, you should be able to find a spot without too much trouble.Final ThoughtsThe Haven is more than just a place to eat; it's an experience. From the warm and inviting atmosphere to the excellent food and drink, every aspect of this Scottish restaurant is designed to make you feel right at home. Whether you're a local or just passing through, The Haven is definitely worth a visit. So, grab a pint of Old Engine Oil, settle in with some fish and chips, and enjoy a little taste of Scotland right in the heart of Jamaica Plain.

Food was excellent (fish supper, Scottish salmon, scotch egg, as well as an awesome crème brûlée). Varied and interesting Scotch menu and solid service. Female bartender not washing her hands after the restroom was disappointing

Food was well crafted and delish. Play on the eggs Benedict was real good. Burger had a great cheese combo and was perfectly cooked. Service was good. Only complaint was the dark room. Understood the game was on a projector but having table lights are a better option than not.

Scottish restaurant with really good food!Vibe: Lots of Scottish cultural paraphernalia. There's a patio, restaurant space open to the patio, bar, and indoor seating.Service: excellent, arrived without a reservation on a Friday night and the hostess was able to get us to a table, our waiter was great, we didn't have to wait long at all to check out 10/10Food: The menu is all Scottish food and drink, small but curated, some vegetarian options. I got the shepherd's pie and it was delicious! The lamb was so tender and not gamey, the cheese was perfectly browned, the rest of the filling was so good. I had a couple chunks of fat that I thought were meat that threw me off but the rest was so delicious. Would definitely recommend. For desert the sticky toffee pudding, again delicious and would recommend, sweet and soft with delicious ice cream pairing and creamy caramel.Value: it is $$ but the food was excellent, portions just right, worth a trip for sureOverall really loved this restaurant, the food was so on point, 10/10 would recommend.

I've been craving an English breakfast for some time, and I ordered the Full Scotch (5). It's the best full breakfast I've had in the Boston area. (If you're looking for a drink recommendation, I paired my meal with a Wee Heavy.) Our table also ordered the Wild Boar sausage roll (3) and lamb Bridies (4) to taste. I was surprised by how small the wild boar sausage roll was. The sausage tasted gamey, as expected, however, tough, and dry, compared to the Full Scotch sausage. The bridies were just as small but I tasted the lamb in every bite. I could have ordered a few more, and it paired nicely with the beer. A friend who never tried Scottish food said bridies tasted like a pierogi. (I think better!) Our service was considerate and timely. (5) After we ordered our beers, they mentioned our Wee Heavys would come out in bottles which we were completely fine with. Instead our beers arrived in glasses, which was a thoughtful gesture. For how large our party was, our six meals were brought out at the same time and all still hot. The ambiance is unfussy. It was a quiet Sunday afternoon, we arrived just an hour after opening. There were a few parties, but they seemed all evenly spaced out. We were able to carry our convos without yelling. (5/5) As for the restaurant, I liked the refurbished smokestack outside, the ceiling height inside, Premier League football in the background, and the bar decor of their scotch collection. My initial review is a 4.5 star because The Haven left a great first impression. I've tried many restaurants in Boston this year, and this was my favorite meal. (I'll give a complete five star after two meals.) I'd like to try their haggis, and if it's still available, bangers and mash, a Scotch flight, and deep fried mars bar; Trivia also sounds fun so I may just have to come back a few more times...

Visiting from out of town and needed food after a long flight. Happened across The Haven, ended up walking over and was absolutely amazed. Walked in and found a nice little spot, reminds you of a Scottish bar in the highlands would look like. The server was amazing, gave great advice on food, ended up going with the Lamb Birdie, which was amazing, flakey and full of filling. Also ended up getting the hot dog, and if you do ask for a side of the cherry pepper aioli, it goes great with the hotdog and fries. Sticky pudding to top things off and the fresh strawberries with the warm toffee sauce and ice cream was an amazing way to end the meal. Would strongly suggest you swing by and try this amazing joint.

My boyfriend was really excited to take me to The Haven as he LOVED visiting it when it was in Hyde Square. Unfortunately, this experience was not stellar. We ordered the Scotch Egg as that's what The Haven is known for. The egg came out burnt and the yolk wasn't deviled like at the previous location. We then both ordered the steak with broccolini. The steak was good, had nice seasoning, but was overcooked. The broccolini flowers tasted as if we were licking salt! We would have mentioned it to the server, but nobody ever came over to check on us or ask how our meal was. While I normally wouldn't be upset about having more quality time on a date, our table was placed directly under a speaker that started blaring music halfway through our dinner. It was impossible to hear each other. When the time came to leave, the host/ person who took our order came back with the bill. Instead of placing it on the table for us to review, he announced our total for neighboring tables to hear and handed the device (then walked away). This was very weird, rude, and completely unacceptable! We are so incredible put off by this experience and sadly will not be back despite the convenience. I hope they find this review and find ways to improve.
