I ordered the steak tips and Thai flavored chicken wings. The wings were OK, but I think the sauce and accompanied it made it better. I prefer a little bit more crunchy skin. But the steak tips were delicious, the mashed potatoes and broccoli was just a good balance. Although very crowded on a Friday night, the service here is impeccable and the food is always really good. I told them ahead of time it was an anniversary dinner and they could not of made it more special. Very attentive and complimentary with even a glass of limoncello at the end. The menu here has not changed much from over ten years ago, same selections pretty much, pasta, steaks, seafood and of course chicken etc. The meatballs here are delicious and so is the chicken parm. The dessert again of my favorite mascarpone and wafers was also a nice treat. Prices are very reasonable here and this is a definite treat...highly recommended."

The second I walked in- I was greeted by the wife and her husband was sitting in the booth and I instantly remembered them from their Mineral Spring Avenue Location! I took my son there for Lunch one day- it was years ago-when he was very little and I will never forget that they made him French fries for free- which was memorable just because of how kind they were. I told her I would pay for them but they waved me away! She also wouldn't let me leave a tip today- but I insisted she give the tip to her son/employee.Everything was made to order so I don't understand the reviews saying the food is not fresh because it most definitely was fresh & delicious! I love the chicken falafel combo ! It's my favorite & the meats were juicy and tender. Everything was great and the price was also very good. I hate when I get lunch for myself & the price comes out to over $20- that is just ridiculous in my opinion. My entire meal came to under $15 - which is amazing! My lunch was amazing, the service was wonderful & the price was just right! I highly recommend at least giving it a try and if you don't know what to order- just go with the chicken or chicken and falafel combo and I promise you- it's worth checking out!"

Hanna G. "I'm quite curious as to why the Westin decided to have a "Burger Bistro" as their main restaurant, which seems to conflict a bit with their glimmering blue glass hotel landmark visible from 128. My company loves using the hotel ballrooms for meetings and firm wide trainings since parking is free and it's a relatively more accessible location than crowding everyone into Boston. Maybe they are going for the gourmet burger image like a Five Napkin? Anyway I wasn't in the mood for a burger while eating with some co-workers so I just ordered a side salad and their chili. My colleagues ordered the largest looking burger and a veggie burger. They looked tasty enough and the fries looked normal. I feel like I've been on such a burger kick lately that it's difficult to impress me with my new gold standard (Black Iron Burger). The server seemed a bit confused at some of our questions but he placed the orders in. We sat near the windows and quite honestly they are super drafty! I felt a chill the entire time from the lack of insulation. We had a great view of the I-95 afternoon traffic. During lunch on a Thursday there were only a few tables occupied. I can't imagine anyone ever coming here specifically for the restaurant. It's more a convenience factor if you are already here. The chili helped warm me up from the polar vortex chill and the salad was just a plain side to fulfill my nutritional needs."

We chatted with the staff for a bit to figure out what to get. I will say the space isn't that big but it works well for quick in and out service since you order at the counter and they then bring your food to you. Went looking at the menu their were 2 things that really stuck out to me. The Steak N Cheese, I mean I love Cheesesteak and I love Grilled Cheese. Then the Poutine Tots. Again, love poutine and love tots how do I not. The Steak N Cheese was good. Not up to par with the tender ribeye in a true cheesesteak but still got the job done. I feel like the steak was similar to steak emms if you are wondering. The Poutine was more of a let down for me. The tots were good but the curds were over cooked for sure to the point that I didn't even realize there was cheese in those fried balls. To save the tots the Truffle ones saved them. They were very good, and having some tomato soup as well is always the best. Also their is an amazing arcade right behind Roxy's so make sure to check it out."

Reggie W. "Overall Lola Burger is a win. Its a nice, moderately sized American restaurant that mostly serves burgers, wraps, sandwiches, etc... The decor is modern and simple and the venue can seat maybe 40 to 50 people at tables and 12 to 15 people at the bar. I'm a sucker for TV's (4 of them) with sports and they deliver, although (and this is being nit-picky) the TV's are too high when you're sitting at the bar. Another nit-picky note--if it's cold outside and you're sitting at the bar, you're going to get a breeze every time someone opens the door. These aren't things that would stop me from coming, just notes from improvement. My bartender was pretty straight forward and didn't really offer me much of her personality but whatever. I ordered a custom burger--double stack ($21), medium well, American cheese (no extra charge), lettuce, tomato, pickles, the Lola Spicy Sauce ($2), Avocado ($2) and Simple fries (no extra charge). The burger was solid--definitely a 10/10, it was sizable, the Lola Spicy Sauce hit and was spicy but tolerable. The fries were a little too simple for me, not that it wasn't loaded, but they were a bit thin for a restaurant in my opinion. They were McDonald's sized (but much better than McDonald's). They gave me A LOT though and they were well seasoned. I was struggling to finish my meal because it's a fair amount of food, but I'm a trooper. Overall there's a few things that I wish were better or different, however this is a really nice spot and I'd certainly return and recommend."

The tenders didn't come with a sauce, so when I asked for one, I was told they only had bbq or a chipotle mayo. This was a little disappointing as I expected honey mustard or something. I ended up using the chipotle mayo which was good. They have ketchup near the utensils but not what I usually use for chicken tenders. Sauce aside the chicken tenders and fries were good. The beer-battered onion rings were really good, but they didn't give a lot for the price. Sal's Lunch

Sal's Lunch

★★★☆☆ 3 (11)

Laura A. "Another review from the boyfriend:Like Mangia Mangia, Sal's (or Chez Sal, as a poster inside the restaurant says for some strange reason) gets three stars for being a convenient lunch option w/ non-italian offerings in the north end. I would probably have to give it one star if I were reviewing it in any other context, though. While it has some of the standard italian fare you can expect anywhere around there (italian, eggplant parm, and chicken parm subs) you can pretty much get whatever kind of sandwich you want. They also have daily specials, which include hot options like meatloaf, chop suey, etc. They also have one or two soups of the day, which you can get "free" with the order of a sub (they actually charge 25 cents for the soup when you get it w/ a sub). The food in Sal's is sort of gross. I think they don't change the oil used to deep fry things often enough, because when you get a chicken parm sub, for instance, it just has a certain taste to it that is not right. In general, none of the food seems that fresh. Although they have a back room (a glorified closet) w/ a stove in there w/ something always cooking. In addition to the subpar food, the entire restaurant is just sticky. Even the backs of the chairs are sticky. But there are some things to like about Sal's. The women behind the counter are very friendly, it's cheap ($5 for a sub ($4.50 w/o soup) and $4.00 for a sandwich). There are always old ladies from the nursing home across the street hanging out in there (affectionately known as the ladies of sal's), which gives it that north end neighborhood feel that I like. Also, it can be an adventure every time you order a sandwich, because if you don't exactly specify what you want on it, they'll just sort of put whatever they feel like on it. This of course has mixed results. They also have really cheap breakfast options, though I haven't tried them yet. But, in the end, going to Sal's isn't about getting quality food. It's about embracing convenience and filth. Because sometimes there's nothing better than sitting down for a greasy hamburger club sub that you eat while perusing a copy of the Herald, with the occasional glance toward the televison to see what is happening on the soaps. Long live Chez Sal."
