"Words cannot describe how happy I was to find out that Life Alive has finally expanded to Davis Square (in fact, on its website...they have sooo many locations now.when they only used to be in Central Square / Copley and another place back 4-5 years ago!).I used to frequent Life Alive frequently for a variety of their acai bowls in the morning when I was working in Boston...and certainly do miss having such a great, healthy start from Life Alive every work day!The shop looked very modern and clean. I liked that they did open early! So, guess what I did my first morning I was back in Boston?!?! I walked over from my place to have a proper healthy breakfast there! The food was not only very satisfying, clean and healthy...they also looked good and colorful...totally instagrammable! I also liked that they also had free internet in the cafe as well (although..it wasn't conducive to me because I had to be on a call and there were definitely background noises of people and music playing in the shop!).Overall, I love that Life Alive is finally in Davis Square! When the worker said my order was ready I thought I would be able to leave, but had to wait again because I was missing half my order. It's a fairly small space, but there is a small set of stairs to a seating area with a few tables if you choose to dine in. I ordered a chicken broccoli alfredo and created my own pasta with sausage and cheese. The container is not great for pasta because they pour in all the sauce at the bottom before they put in the pasta and toppings. It's difficult to mix, so you end up eating your toppings and are left with dry leftover pasta. There is enough for 2 servings if you want to share with a friend if you aren't too hungry. Overall, a quick and easy concept to try out, but I wouldn't return since there's nothing special about the pasta."

"Oh my. I'm at a loss for words. I went last night with 3 friends, all of whom had been before and I see why. It's a cozy little place in a strip mall on Route 9 with plenty of parking. The web site said no parties over 4 but there was a table set up for 7 so maybe there are exceptions. It *is* a smallish place, a few tables and a bar in the front, some tables further back. But charming, with a cozy friendly ambience. Chef Dave came through as we were getting settled and gave a friendly greeting as he came by. The wait staff was helpful, pleasant and efficient. The bartender is a magician if the French Kiss I enjoyed is any indication. My dining partners had sauvignon blanc which they enjoyed (okay, I had a glass too after I finished my French Kiss). We had many many questions about the menu and the specials and our waiter--wish I had gotten her name--answered patiently and came back multiple times before we were ready to order. We shared a Burrata salad which was delish. I had the Prime Filet with mashed potatoes and haricot vert with a demi glacé. Cooked to perfection! My mouth is watering just remembering. My companions had the pan seared halibut, another similar seafood dish I don't recall--salmon maybe?--and the lemon roasted half chicken. Raves all around. Okay I won't lie, the steaks and a couple of the seafood dishes were expensive so I'll have to pace myself regarding a return, much as I'd love to eat here regularly. But I truly can't wait to return. I envy those whose proximity and budget allow them to be the regulars warmly greeted as we sat there enjoying our meal. Kudos to Chef Dave and the staff!"

I went in to look for some ethnic groceries and they had a nice small selection of Asian and Latin American groceries. Unfortunately, the spiced rice that I was looking for.....they only had GOYA brand, which I don't buy because of GOYA's owner's political stands. Therefore, I did not buy any groceries. I checked out the deli section and their menu is large and varied. They have a large selection of prepared salads that look really nicely done.This business was born and created as a place where people can gather around excellent food, shopping, urban culture, and great coffee - that is the vision that Ken Zorabedian and Rick Melise had when they came up with the concept for Bodega on Smith. They wanted a place where people of diverse ages and cultural backgrounds could shop, meet, and mingle in the heart of Smith Hill, their childhood stomping ground. Located just a few blocks from the State Capital Building and a stone's throw from Downtown Providence, the Bodega on Smith provides quality produce from local Rhode Island farmers. You can pick up some fresh fruits and vegetables. There's a selection of vegan and non-vegan gourmet cheeses, cured meats, and farm fresh eggs. The prepared foods section is internationally inspired and changes daily with both vegan and non-vegan options. The Market Menu is a rotating menu, and their sandwich menu has over 30 sandwiches and a dedicated Vegan Menu. The one thing that I can also say is when I walked in, there was a pungent odor inside the entire store. Not sure what that was, but for me, it was a bit of a turn off."

"I don't know how they get their falafel so fresh and fluffy, but it's a real winner. Green, flavorful, it's one of my favorite falafels in the area nowadays. Also love that their platters contain so many options: a good portion of your chosen main from a variety of options (including proteins like fish and bastarma), fries or flavorful yellow rice with scattered onions and peppers, a nicely dressed and seasoned salad portion, a falafel or two, a portion of grilled veggies (tonight was broccoli, cauliflower, and peppers), hummus, very pungent garlic sauce, a pita, and a charred jalapeno. It's fresh, flavorful, filling (makes 2 meals for me), tasty, mostly healthy, and pretty cravable. But there are sandwich and bowl options too, if you don't want all the frills- they've got portions and options for all appetites. So far, the chicken shawarma and chicken kebab are winners- seasoned nicely and not dry, though the shawarma is more pieces of tender than actually shaved shawarma-, with the beef shawarma coming in third. Don't sleep on the filo cheese sticks (crispy and delicious) or the baklava (huge portion) either. Delivery is reliable and food typically arrives still hot. If you haven't tried them yet, what are you waiting for?"

That and the fact that they aren't afraid to use basic seasoning (looking at you, On Deck). Unfortunately, I didn't come hungry. So I only had enough space in my stomach for the Rattlers. These were great! The chicken was cooked and seasoned perfectly and was the true star of the show. The supporting acts of cheese and sun-dried tomato tortilla did not get lost along the way. In a word, everything was balanced! Only the tiny (and undressed) side salad seems like an afterthought. I'd also like to take a moment to point out the sauces. The habanero ranch was pleasant, though alas, my heat tolerance to make an impact. The hot sauce, though... let me tell you: this stuff is HOT! Solid flavor and real heat! Proceed with caution.The Cool as a Paloma cocktail was terrific! It hit all the right notes from the recipe. There were flavors of cucumber, a little sweetness from the grapefruit, and some spice from the jalapeño. Overall, it was refreshing and strong despite not tasting super boozy.Finally, the vibes, as mentioned earlier: This is the kind of place with local regulars where everyone knows each other. Not just by name but about their lives and families. Even as a first-timer, I felt welcome as well! People aside, the location itself is clean and welcoming.While I may not be a local (at least not yet), I may, at some point become one of the regulars!"

They carry an array of Greek imported drinks. The dips.. oh the dips!! The Tirokafteri aka spicy feta is just out of the world as is the tsaziki. The plates are generously portioned. The yaya donuts are SO GOOD!! I honestly tried almost everything and I can't say not one bad thing. Staff goes above and beyond. They want customers to be happy. They even take customers minutes before close. Amazing spot."

We took some home to go because it was a huge amount (for $14.95 each!!), and my mom said she liked the BBH, and the Canh Bun wasn't her favorite LOL. In my opinion, I thought it was great and it was loaded with lots of different meats, but she was saying how Canh Bun doesn't normally have tomatoes and that Bun Rieu does (a very similar dish). Aside from that, I honestly thought it was really good and I loved the fermented shrimp paste to it for the extra umami flavor.Great portions, nice people, and hearty food!"

I haven't tried them yet, but they also have a variety of dips, pastries, and I think they cure their salmon in-house (!!!). The interior is super cute and well designed, in love with the branding for this place. I believe they have just started making full bagel sandwiches, but I haven't had the chance to try. Will be coming again to try more bagels and sandwiches!"

Super filling and one time I added vegan sausage on the side, but I'd skip this since it was pretty dry and didn't add much. The eggs were cooked well and the sourdough was good too. The side of potatoes added to how filling the dish was. The fruit cup I was pleasantly surprised by since it came with fresh berries and sliced banana when I was expecting the typical older honeydew and grapes. Overall, I'd say this place is a good value but I do wish they had smoothies!!"
