Stumbled upon this place after I've tried their food from a catering party and I can't stop going back here! Bodard Bistro serves up some delicious food for any appetite! My most recent visit was a few months ago with some family on a late night in Chinatown Houston. Some go-to foods are the Nem Nuong, the spring rolls, and the Rice Cake with Shrimp. Let's break these down one by one because these items are super awesome.Nem Nuong: tasty, contrasting textures, simple, sauce is dope.Spring Rolls: full of stuffing, crunchy, elegant, amazing.Rice Cake with Shrimp: unexpectedly great, crispy vegetables, awesome dipping sauce, fried goodness.Ambiance is very simple inside, traditional Asian restaurant, with some TVs showing some sports, good mix!

Don't have much to go on except for our work pot luck someone brought in these awesome springs rolls, believe they are called Nem Nuong Rolls. They have something crunchy with the veggies and pork that sets it apart from regular spring rolls. Also the dipping sauce, which at first glance I thought it was egg drop soup, had an amazing taste. Literally hands down the best dish outside of the smoked turkey that someone brought. Here in downtown there are a lot of bodard express's...are they the same place?

Stay for their signature spring rolls, skip their noodle soups (bun rieu was def NOT a bun rieu, no crab or pork to be seen, just a few crappy fish cakes and undercooked sliced tomatoes). The pho was also meh. But their sauce for the rolls was delicious, fatty, porky goodness. Great crunch, I did find the pork sausage dry (I heard a microwave so I have a feeling they were nuked as it was end of day). They ridepaper was tearing when we were trying to remove them from the tray.

3-3.5 stars, but rounding up since their Nem Nướng Cuon is really good for Texas. However, if you're expecting Brodard from Orange County, you'll be disappointed. Once I stopped comparing, I was able to enjoy their nem nướng. We stopped by to pick up some items and called in ahead of time. They weren't busy around 5pm on a Monday, and our order was ready quickly. We tried:-Nem Nướng Cuon (Grilled Pork Spring Rolls, $6, https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=t2qmuppJcOX7God9i_AvPQ&userid=76vIFZcC7owykCBjMfGVXg): Pretty good, and they didn't skimp on the meat in the spring rolls. The rolls were a little unevenly rolled, but at least it was tightly rolled. All the ingredients were really fresh. The dipping sauce was a little sweeter than I would have liked, but nothing some sriracha can't fix.-Nem Nướng Cuon (Grilled Pork Spring Rolls) To Go Kit: I can't remember how much this was, but we loved how neatly packaged everything was! We made more spring rolls the next day, and it actually tasted better for some reason. If you're looking for a nem nướng fix in Texas, I would recommend checking out Bodard. They only have indoor dining available at this time, and all their staff that I saw were wearing masks. There were plenty of parking spots available in their shared lot.

Bodard has moved again, but the food has not changed... if anything, it might have gotten better. The restaurant was clean, and we were seated quickly. Despite the language barrier of the staff, they seem to understand everything you ask them. Inflation has reared it's ugly head again, and the signature pork spring rolls with egg sauce are now $8.50 for 4. Long gone are the days of the insane value of the $19.99 meal for 2 (2 full wings, catfish clay pot, pineapple catfish soup and lotus salad). It is now $25.The dishes came out staggered and not all at once, and this did not bother me one bit. Why? Because everything was fresh. The sauce for my pork rolls was steaming hot, the rice paper was not the freshest, but I can understand them pre-making their most popular item. Plus, once the sauce softened it up, it was all good. The lotus salad came out next, a little smaller than I remembered but still delicious. Plenty of shrimp. The soup followed, a large bowl, 2 large catfish chunks, plenty of veggies, and nice and hot. Just sweet and sour enough. After the soup came out the catfish clay pot, the sauce still bubbling from being pulled off the heat. It was delicious as usual, and I don't know how... but you can render what little fat catfish has because it melted in my mouth.Last, the wings came out screaming hot. These are full wings, the flat and the drum. It was moist... how do I know this? My wife squirted with me wing juice as she was separating the flat from the drum. Could have used a bit more seasoning, but it was still very good. The restaurant may have gotten smaller, but it's still the good old food I remember.

I think the owners have changed and now is an all women masterpiece. I have been craving this for what... maybe 10 years. I was not disappointed. I did notice my taste has changed a little since becoming a mother, but the food has improved. It was myself and kids. They had a grilled pork and rice and pho. I got a taste of their dishes and it is seasoned well and isn't adjusted for western taste. I apps, eggrolls and nem rolls were excellent. Again the star of the show was the nem rolls. They cut the nems into smaller pieces or they rolled it into smaller patties, but this helped in my opinion. They do offer the mam nem that is more traditional in Nha Trang, but you have to ask for it since it isn't normally offered for everyday. The BBH was nice. They came out with all the good stuff that isn't offered in my neck of the woods. Banana blossom, shrimp paste. The service was outstanding. The ladies were amazing attentive and helpful! I don't know if it was pity on me for being there by myself with 3 young kids of this was the normal treatment. But they made the experience absolutely wonderful.

Hands down the best spring rolls I've ever had. That crunch gets me every time and their dipping sauce is so good. I always stop here when I'm in the area just for the spring rolls.

This is an unassuming, solid 3.5-4 star spot if you're craving some vietnamese food. There are a ton of options in the area and it's definitely hard to choose favorites, but here we go.First off, this is not THE Brodard from southern California. While the sauce and rolls may look the same, they definitely are not. The nem nuong (aka sausage spring rolls) do have the crispy fried piece in there. While the spring rolls were still good, they weren't Brodard good but about Brodard's price (4 for $8.50)Bun Bo Hue was large and plentiful, full of flavor, and a solid choice. Would recommend this and very fairly pricedLastly, we got the Banh Xeo, which has been somewhat difficult to find but this place does it well. Nice and crispy, not too oily, and large-portioned. The outside is thicker than normal, but still delicious. Definitely worth trying at least once!Overall, the waitstaff was fairly nice and attentive, which gave them the bump up.
