This place is a casual spot and is a half grocery store. The service was super friendly. We ordered many dishes to share from their cafeteria style dining and some items from the menu. We really enjoyed the sambal udang/petai, the sauce was spicy and flavorful but wish there were more shrimp and petai. The ikan bakar was good as well, the hint of smokiness paired great with the sauce. The fried rice was a little too sweet for my liking though but the sate was good. The chicken that came with the fried rice was also a little too dry but nothing a little belacan can't fix. Super authentic food and definitely recommend.

Batavia is casual dining experience as the location as a whole is half the restaurant and half a grocery store. I actually really liked the vibe because it made everything feel a bit more intimate and authentic, plus the staff were really kind. There is the option to order from the "cafeteria" (which had food items laid out like a buffet) rather than the menu if you wanted. This was my first time trying Indonesian food so I decided to order Nasi Padang. I liked the flavor combinations as it tasted both familiar and unique. The chicken and beef in my dish were quite tender. Overall, I would come here again to try another item on the menu!

Authentic Ethnic Food # 81 Indonesian Cuisine. We found this grocery - Restaurant store in behind of famous Buford Highway. It is a tuck away plaza. We got a lot of to go items. Their cooking is very similar to my home country. We start with Dadar Gulung the special brown sugar coconut meat infill pancake. This a traditional dessert. We also got Nasi Bakar Bandung - this is rice wrap with spice stuffed in bamboo. Then put in fire grill. It is delicious. This dish comes with fried chicken and more. We also got the Ayam Talinwang. This is a chili chicken with chicken and rice. Delicious. We also got chicken satay. The satay just ok. The food they serve have many types. It includes deli food that on the tray you can pick one or two meat combo. Overall they are good. It help us not to cook and enjoy good food.

Located in a small grocery store, I've always had this place bookmarked and so happy I finally got to try it! The lady who took care of us was so attentive and sweet, she would bring our group more rice as she saw it running low. We were a group of 6 and shared: - Grilled Pompano: one of my favorites of everything we got. It was already cut in half for us which made it easy to pull apart to share. The fish was so delicious, and whatever the glaze was - it was addicting. A bit sweet with some savory. Would highly recommend! It comes with this spicy fermented shrimp paste - Ssambal shrimp: spicy! So if you can't handle spice, maybe would skip this- Ssambal chicken: less spicy than the shrimp in my opinion? The chicken was so juicy and moist, I personally preferred this over the shrimp - Beef Rendang: meat was tender which was nice. It was a bit different than the rendang that our friend's family made but still good - curry with either goat or lamb: sorry, couldn't remember which meat but it may have been goat. The curry consistency isn't super thick but the flavors were there, enjoyed it. - noodle soup: delicious, one of my top favorites of the night. Comes with a mix of ramen like and vermicelli noodles, meat balls, this tofu, and veggies. The broth had a nice umami flavor, would recommend! - chicken satay: same glaze as the fish, so of course this was good- not pictured is a veggie dish that is similar to snow pea leaves that was very good as well as the roti which you can't go wrong with. Glad to have come as a group so we could try a bunch of things. Can't wait to come back!

This place is like half grocery store and half cafeteria / restaurant. So not fancy but has plenty of seating, and we really enjoyed the food! The lady working behind the food counter was very sweet and helpful. I don't know the authentic names for most of what we ate off the bar, but it was all yummy. Highlights were probably the beef rendang and collards. Curry chicken was also tasty as were the eggplant (albeit oily) and green beans / tofu (very spicy). Desserts weren't a highlight for us, although we enjoyed the fried balls of gelatinous rice stuffed with plum sugar, rolled in coconut and flash fried. Pricing was very reasonable, with full meals at $11-$12. We both got takeout for dinner for the rest of the family. We'll be back!

It's been over a year since we first came to Doraville. That was then, and the Indonesian restaurant we wanted to come to this time around is no longer in business. With our luck, we found Batavia. It was a long drive from Lake Lanier, but it was worth it. Four of us were seated in the round large booth in the corner. A quaint restaurant, and we struck up a friendly conversation with the lady running the place. Oh, how I wished my Bahasa Indonesia was up to date. The old "Maleis" is getting me by. We ordered a lot of Indonesian dishes. All the favorites like gado gado and tahu and Tempe and Soto betawi and kwetiau and Sate kambing and more white rice and lontong with a special three sides from the dishes in the display case like the tripe and rendang and leafy green kangkung....a little spicy sambal and sweet atjar atjar with peanut sauce and ketjap manis goes a long way. With such a mix of flavors, we need to temper it with ice-cold smoothies of mango and durian. Let's go shopping in the adjacent corner for cassava chips and Tempeh with kaffir lime and oooh packets of kopi kopi.. Batavia was a joy. A great experience and a definite, easy to please Indonesian food restaurant when you are visiting Atlanta and Lake Lanier.

This is such a cute family owned restaurant. It's attached to a small grocery store with goods from Indonesia. There is a menu to choose from for popular Indonesian dishes or there is a hot bar to choose various items based on what you want to try. The food was very authentic and you can taste the home made flavors in the dishes. Highly recommend for some authentic home made Indonesian food!

A very unpretentious grocery store & cafeteria style food... lots of options to chose from the cafeteria style food. Plus they have a made to order menu too. Don't expect the tables to be clean, advise you to bring wet wipe to wipe down the table. We got rendang & it was tender & tasty, so was the gulai ayam. Every item we picked was yummy. No complaints... location was a bit weird but the GPS got us there. Excellent meal!
