Food (would recommend all):Fried Green TomatoesBlackened SalmonMac and CheeseBraised Collard GreensDrinks were good and strong! Service was a bit slow, but we had a large group so that was to be expected honestly. The ambience was pretty casual. The vibe matches the name, it's good lowcountry food and it feels very welcoming and "normal" inside. There are TVs, but they're easy to ignore if you're not interested. The live music on Saturday night was the absolutely highlight of our meal/dining experience. I think there's also a open area for dancing, from what I could see from where we were seated. I love the concept and how the ambience is set up for people to have a good time, not just eat.

The venue is beautiful. The band was absolutely amazing. The food was very bland. It lacked seasoning and took over 2 hours to reach our table. It was hot and plated pretty though. If you like unseasoned cafeteria food that takes a long time to arrive you might appreciate this place. The waitstaff was overwhelmed and inattentive. A person in our party received the wrong drink. 20 mins later they brought out the correct drink. They attempted to charge him for their mistake and negligence. Then the manager accused the person in our party for taking the wrong drink. She was horrid. Very poor customer service and management skills. Blond haired woman very patronizing and rude. My biggest advice is to eat before coming to see the band. Order a soft drink or a glass of wine out the bottle. I tend to leaving glowing reviews but this night was absolutely horrible besides the band. The band was great!

I visited Coaxum's to celebrate my grandmother's 75th birthday. The ambiance was pleasant, and the service was good, although the bar was a bit slow with only one bartender, which made getting drinks take longer than expected. The food was pretty good, about $25 a plate, and the drinks were okay--nothing special. The staff was very helpful, and the band did a great job entertaining us. The restrooms were clean, and it's a great place on the weekend to enjoy live music. Overall, it was a nice place for a special celebration.

This place was nice. It is a little dark. A lot of black. The service was good. We waited 20 minutes and the restaurant wasn't busy. Not sure what that was about. The food was really good. The fried green tomatoes were really good. The shrimp and grits were amazing. The seafood platter was ok. The fried catfish was amazing. The oysters were extremely tiny and overcooked.

The food was ok. I really liked my oysters. The service was pretty good. They were hosting an event the day we came. Good music and not too crowded.

We came here for a work lunch with a group of 12. At first it was a little slow to get our ordered in and get our drinks, but once that was done service was pretty good. Our food came out in a reasonable time and was good. I got fried catfish and it seemed fresh and fried well. They serve complimentary sweet potato bread and it was sooo good!

Decided to try this place on a Saturday evening to hear the band. Got in about an hour and 30 minutes before the band was set to play. We were greeted by the hostess asking, 'We were talking about your car. What year is it" ? We let the hostess know we were there to see the band but needless to say she tried to sit us behind the big screen TV where one person's back would be turned away from the band. We asked if we could sit near the front, and she said that all of the booths except the last one by the cashier's order was reserved by those with reservations. We took the booth. Mind you out of 5 booths only the first one was occupied. About 30 minutes later two women came in and sat in the booth in front of us, when asked, they told us that they did not make reservations. At that point I was ready to go because apparently the hostess was wrong. Sit your customers where they request to sit instead of worrying about what they drive. Also, know what booths are reserved and which ones available, 1 star for that. Overall, 3 stars for the oysters and 4 stars for the pleasant waitress. I plan to go back, but hopefully, we'll get better customer service next time. offered

We had a 730p reservation for Friday night. We arrived a few minutes early and were told we'd have to wait because the kitchen was backed up. No big deal. We were also told we could just sit in a booth in the bar area. We opted to sit in the bar but didn't feel like that would change the kitchen's ability to get food out. Service was s l o w. We understood that there was a large party and someone was training. Again, no problem. We placed our entire order for drinks, appetizer, and entrees hoping to make it a lil easier on the server. We finally get the mussels appetizer. It was overly salty but good flavor otherwise. I wished they'd given us something to put the shells in. Luckily we'd been given saucers for the complimentary cornbread served by someone who looked like management, but no comments/apologies regarding the slow service. Entrees arrive. We both had catfish and steak fries with mac and cheese or black-eyed peas. The catfish needed salt and was rubbery. It didn't really taste like catfish or maybe it was previously frozen. Either way, i'd skip it next time. It was hot though! The fries were served hot too and needed salt or ..... something. All the fries were cut and cooked through consistently. Also, we should not have to request ketchup when ordering fries. We didn't request tarter sauce which came automatically with the fish. The mac and cheese also needed salt the black-eyed peas were just ok. The old-fashioned cocktails were good but arrived after we started eating our entrees. The host and server were nice! The band was excellent. The bathrooms were clean. Seemed like a pretty steady flow of customers. Ill extend grace for slow service and I'll go back to try another dish and enjoy the music & drinks.

From beginning to end, this was a stellar meal. Tierra went above and beyond as our server. The food was OUTSTANDING! Everything was hot, fresh, and flavorful. Don't miss the sweet potato cornbread muffins! My girls ordered the shrimp and grits. I have had this dish in many states, but this was seasoned to perfection. The blackened catfish, mac and cheese, sautéed green beans, sweet potato casserole, and salmon with bourbon sauce were incredible!!! This will be our new celebration spot!
