There isn't really any bar area. It was freezing outside so when ordering to-go it was a little be awkward. "Got the brown stew and curry chicken from this place. Chicken is fall off. The bone tender, and the flavor in each dish was delicious! We will definitely come here again. I ordered via Uber eats. Efficient, packed with care, and so happy that this is a small business in my community."

(If you know who you know who)So in this place you will find a feisty, but cool lady at the front...She is good peoples...And her customer service is straight up..No cutting corners...I got jerk chicken with rice and peas on the side..The rice and peas had oxtail gravyThe rice was different....I mean, it was adventurous....Not a single grain undercooked or overcooked Perfect texture The oxtail gravy added a somewhat savory, buttery flavor over rice that was jazzed up with flavor..This wasn't your regular rice and peas that would have Someone reaching for salt and condiments Everything was already there.I found myself eating it with a spoonAnd didn't even notice when I hit the bottom of the Container being empty"Mama said there would be days like this"The jerk chicken....Wow!!!!Probably some of the best jerk chicken I have had in my life!!!!This chicken was so flavorful You could eat the bones and taste smoky, fiery jerk vibes.even in chicken breast It's very hard for people to have jerk chicken taste colorful Where there is breast involved They have achieved it!!The chicken needs no gravy...No need for jerk sauceYou want to really sample "da ting"Eat it as it comes to youDon't be fooled by the color if you are new to jerk chickenThat's just the spices that color it It's totally legit...Jerk chicken can be... spicy, lip numbing, or just enjoyable I found this restaurant to be enjoyable with enough spice to get your nose running So the question remains Would I go back?I'm in California, and I would fly back for the jerk chickenMatter of fact.. when I book my flight.. "Loved - Loved - Loved - Loved - Loved - Loved Fried Chicken w/Jerk Sauce: Jerk Sauce is definitely spicy. Fried chicken is hot juicy and flavorful. Thigh pieces and drumsticksPeas and Rice: fluffy and flavorful DJ & Caribbean Kickback vibe on Wednesday late night - doesn't close until 2am DISLIKED ; Disliked ; Disliked ; Disliked ; Disliked They didn't put the jerk sauce on the side, even though we asked, and they repeated and confirmed it. I love the sauce but too much is too spicy for me. :-( -- however the sauce is delicious, FYI."
"Family run Jamaican restaurant. I had the king fish dinner. Meal was 2 steaks served with 3 sides: rice and peas, steamed cabbage, and fried plantains. Good sized portion was very filling.Food was good (Sorry, no picture.) and I will eat here again."
"A friend told me about this spot so I came for a pan of rice and peas for a Christmas outing. The rice and peas was great, and my waitress was very accommodating for the size order I had. She let me try a few items before I made my final decision and made sure I had everything I needed before I left. I'll be back for an individual plate, so I can give a better review of cost for one person."
"Visited this hole in the wall while visiting the distillery down the street. The cashier was very friendly in helping me figure out what I should probably get.My buddy got a sorrel drink and curry chicken platter. My buddy let me try his sorrel drink. It was quite good. I also got to try the chicken. Super good and almost made me regret my decision.I got the jerk chicken sandwich and a curry chicken patty, and a side of sweet plantains. I thought the sandwich was decent, but a little dry. The patty's curry chicken wasn't as flavorful as my buddy's platter. Plantains were as good as one would expect.I washed it all down with a Jamaican Pineapple Ginger soda. Super good flavor combination I had never had before.I wouldn't hesitate coming back here."
"I like Kempers.I do not like Kemper's prices these days. But the food is good so as you see; people come back. The Jerk Chicken is great - the jerk chicken pasta (Made to order) even better.Their brown stewed and curry chickens are also delicious and everything is very flavorful.Their jerk chicken pasta; even a small is enough to give me 2 meals. It's delicious. Their Oxtail? Also good; but the prices make me want to buy a cow instead.Long story short - the food is good, but the prices are high. But go get a jerk chicken (or salmon) pasta and a strawberry ginger lemonade and you'll be fine."
"I had a craving for Jamaican food and found this spot riding down Memorial Drive. I didn't have time to read the reviews prior to coming so we literally took a chance and I'm glad we did! Omg that jerk pork was soooooo good. Never have I ever ordered that from any other restaurant but wanted to try something other than jerk chicken or curry chicken. My first choice was the fish but it's prepared to order which takes about 25-30 minutes which we weren't in the mood to wait. All seafood is prepared to order so I know for next time to call ahead for that dish if I'm in the area again. The pork was so flavorful and it was right amount of spice. And it's plenty of meat! Rice and peas, cabbage and plantains ran me ten bucks which ain't nuthin at all. I can always count on Stone Mountain and Decatur to provide the best island food."
"The first time I visited, I visited after attending a family member's funeral and my company consisted of my daughter and first-cousin (I hope Yelp will show that review as well. Because I'm not from the area, I decided to Yelp a spot where I could order some pasta. Well, long story short, I had dined here before and it was not the same. When I arrived there were 3 other guests. I ordered Chardonnay and it looked like beer to others and pee to me )I'm a healthcare professional). Compare the photos. I politely asked to send the wine back because it looked old and opened and ordered a mimosa. You guys, I was honestly just trying to kill time before my daughter's game. The mimosa tasted bad as well. So I decided to do what seemed natural, send the drink back and ask for a drink that doesn't not come from an opened bottle of wine/champagne and request a business favorite. The Rum-Punch was 10x better and the pasta with oxtails was even better!!! My rating remains the same. Go try it for yourself!"
"A day that includes Jamaican food is a really great in my opinion. But it's not often that you find one like you'd find other foodie faves. After a visit to Kroger one day and seeing Tropic Jerks next door, I figured I'd come back one day and check them out. Which I did one early weekday evening. First impressions were great when I walked inside. It wasn't a large space, but the huge wall mural of the Johnny Bus was a beautiful sight. The large windows made it nice and bright in there, the pops of yellow, green, and red were all nice touches. Very refreshing! There were two other parties in the restaurant before me so I hopped in line and checked out the menu. It's always so difficult for me to pick out what I want to eat and the specials menu made it even harder. I ended up going with jerk chicken, figuring that I'd be back again to try more options another day. Pricing was decent but I think that I'll try to come during lunch time to check out their lunch specials. After I ordered my food, my name was called about 10 min later and I grabbed my food and headed home. After finishing errands and finally getting home and ready to eat, I opened my takeout box and what a surprise I received. There was no jerk chicken but... OXTAILS? Omg. God favors me so. To the Tropic Jerks team, pls forgive me because I absolutely sat there and ate it lol. I enjoyed them! I'm sure the jerk chicken would have been great but I have no complaints obviously. Next time I go back, I sure hope they don't make a wonderful mistake like that again. ;-)"
"The Beverly never let me down. Whenever I'm in need of good food late night...they come through. I always order the shrimp or fish tacos with fries and an satisfied every time. My visit on 02/28 came after night drinking and a failed attempt at dining at another establishment. Robby was my server and he took excellent care of me.Illof course be back!"

I had brunch here yesterday with my brother. Parking is ample and free in the shopping center lot just outside. The vibe here is cozy, welcoming, and beautifully Black. The food is authentically Jamaican with some more eclectic influences. I was surprised to see empanadas on the menu. The hosts were so kind, knowledgeable of the menu, and their services are tailored to ensure everything is to your liking. I started with the beef patty. I've actually had a real beef patty in MontegoBay and their version is very authentic. It was served hot and was truly savory. The Sorrell was the perfect drink to accompany my brunch as I love the taste and flavor of hibiscus. The spicy chicken bowl was so good and lives up to its name. I like it spicy, and if it doesn't make me couch at least once it ain't spicy enough. This dish surely understood the assignment. The chicken was tender and juicy. Black beans are my favorite and their were not too salty with the yellow rice. This was without question a dish made with love. And now for those damn amazing pancakes. These have got to be the absolutely best pancakes I've had outside of those my mom and wife make, and these might even rival theirs . They are crispy. Fluffy. Buttery. And they have the audacity to serve them deliciously with both warm maple syrup and a caramel sauce. I felt loved eating them. If I had to change one thing it'll be the wait for version things but they are a small establishment with a small staff. The food was certainly worth the wait. Check 'em out.

Tik tok and trends got me here . I wanted to see what the fuss was about and I did . Service was really great can't front and it felt as if I was in "Jamaica" almost by the family friends who hung around like they watch the chicken on the grill til it's right But I had to try this "EXPENSIVE" viral sandwich . The Oxtail was money Tender and fresh , patty was good to along with coco bread , my only beef is these 3 things . 1.No Sauce ,like a jerk sauce or nothing 2.Mac&cheese was noodle and cheese and at this heaping $25.00 price they should have someone with experience make this Mac and cheese 3. The price made me look to be blown away and I felt slighted . Food cost is high but no so high I don't enjoy it . The jerk chicken plate I got was very much worth the price and I would try again , but that sandwich isn't for me ever area is of course in the hood but it's safe and great feel to it .

Had lunch at my office building from Island Take Away and while I haven't had too much Caribbean food, in my opinion, this was awesome. The curry chicken had heat but won't blow your taste buds. And uber moist. Rice and peas were just the right consistency. The plantains were just the right sweet spot after the spice.I could eat bowls of this food, if they'd let me. If they ever come back, I'll be first in line.

I was on the hunt for some Jamaican food and typically I have to drive over to Decatur or Stone Mountain for some good spots. My usual place was too far out so I decided to pull up Yelp and find a closer spot. This place wasn't close from where I was but there were cars in the lot so I trusted it. I was very pleased with my oxtails and rice. She gave me more gravy on the rice and peas and I enjoyed the well seasoned cabbage. If I'm ever in the area, I'd definitely visit again.

Got the curry chicken ($10) and the oxtail dish ($16), both of these dishes were SO good, I cleaned my plate! Service was great, staffs were really kind. I can't wait to come again and try other dishes! There's a large parking lot and very casual environment.

Service was amazing. Inside was nice and However the food wasn't great. I had the brown stewed chicken, macaroni, rice and peas. Chicken was over cooked and macaroni was alright. On the other plate I had oxtail, cabbage, rice and peas. Cabbage was good, oxtail had good flavor, rice was good. It was ok so I won't be back.

Had the jerk chicken, which was amazing. The fried plantain was good, but a bit sweet compared to the ones I've had in Africa. The beef pastry was no good, it had the consistency of refried beans inside and was not crispy. I would definitely come back.Except if you're a single girl or have children, I would definitely recommend not going to this area. It was the middle of the day and there were drunk women doing lewd things in the middle of the street, trash in the street, and a bunch of shady looking characters. More than just homeless.

Visiting ATL for a Spiritual retreat, we chose Kemper's for lunch...and my my my!!! I ordered Curried Shrimp extra spicy with Cabbage and Mac n cheese! It was by far the best Jamaican I've had in quite some time. In fact, if my Jamaican food doesn't have the same level of flavor, freshness and perfect amount of spicy (FINALLY!) when I always request such as Kemper's brings--I just don't want it. The cabbage was cooked to perfection, still having a slight crisp to it--peppers and onions in the curry as well. There's truly an art to maintaining the nutritional value of veggies by not cooking them to Death!! The shrimp--of course, we all know how devastating an overcooked shrimp can be--this was NOT THE CASE WITH KEMPER'S!! Again...They have master chefs in the kitchen clearly and I for one love to praise and compliment those much deserving of such! Kudos Kemper's--definitely a Diamond in the a rough!!! I know Whenever I return to ATL I'll definitely be a repeat patron!
Visit Restaurant Page"Came here randomly after work.Very straightforward take out spot. There were some tables but seems more of a to go spot. It's located inside of a mall/market place. Plenty of parking in the parking lot. I ordered the jerk chicken pasta and it was bomb. Flavorful and spicy but perfectly paired with the creamy sauce of the pasta. It's a little out of the way for me so I prob won't be back but if you're in the area I'd definitely recommend it!"
"Located inside of politan row. I've dined here twice. Staff is always friendly and helpful. You have to go when they open to get the oxtail egg roll because they sell out quick. My first visit they were out of the egg rolls so I ordered the cocoa bread Philly and fries which was delicious, huge portion size. The second time I went early and ordered the oxtail egg roll. The egg roll is my absolute favorite! Such great flavor and always so so so good. Highly recommend this restaurant"
"Upon arrival, at approximately 12:10 pm, the restaurant wasn't ready to seat anyone. We were then told by our server that they were out of a number of items on the menu. Seemed odd considering they just opened for the day.Food was hit and miss. I ordered the Jerk Salmon with mixed vegetables. The salmon was cooked perfectly and the jerk sauce was great. However, the mixed vegetables had no seasoning and the mashed sweet potato also had no seasoning."
"Looks can definitely be deceiving, this spot is located in an old shopping plaza and has a pretty cool happy hour. You have your choice of a few drinks for $5, including rum punch which is some of the best I have tasted in the city. The music is good, lots of reggae tunes. I was surprised when my food came out on a white glass plate, presentation was beautiful and the food was so delicious. For $16 I had fried whiting that was perfectly fried and seasoned, cheesy mac n cheese, and peas and rice. The entrée was $15 and I was charged an upcharge for the premium side (mac n cheese). This place has so much potential, my friend and I were two of four customers dining in. Not sure why it wasn't crowded because the place is very spacious with booths and tables, a large bar, good music, friendly service, and a pool table. I can see myself returning here. If you enjoy Jamaican food and music, check out this place today. They also have a $5 lunch special."
"Jerk Chicken Tacos please! I'm officially a fan of this place. Although I've only had one item from their menu, they offer a variety Caribbean dishes like jerk shrimp, curry goat and more. I've been here about 3 times and the wait times for your food vary. I came around lunch time and it took about 15 minutes while the next visit, I came in the evening and it took 30 minutes. I would recommend calling ahead to place your order."
"Egusi smoked turkey and white rice jollof and mixed meat fired plantains . Food well seasoned. Service great . Atmosphere very nice."
"I really like the jerk chicken. It has a different style of taste in comparison with many of the other jerk chicken cuisines I have tasted. I don't like Spicy food yet the jerk chicken was slightly spicy with a barbecue taste. The times posted on the internet are wrong so if your trying to beat rush-hour traffic to get there don't worry they close later than 6 o'clock."
"Being a Trini, when I first heard there was a restaurant named "J'ouvert" it automatically made the list of spots I had to check out. The restaurant is in an area that has ample paid parking options and when you walk in the space isn't large, but they made good use of the space, and there is a decent amount of seating. I must also say, they did a great job with the décor and different colors. The bar is very small, but I sat there and did the bottomless brunch which came with bottomless mimosas (FTW!). The brunch options were also decent, with some items being better than others, but the true star was the Hennessy Blueberry Pancake. I put a combination of the blueberry sauce and the passion fruit sauce on mine and it was delicious! Jordan was my bartender and he was phenomenal! Friendly, attentive, and efficient. There was a live DJ when I went and the music he played was the perfect mix of Soca, Dancehall, and old school and 90s/00s RnB. Overall, I had a good first experience and I would definitely return."
"Popped my head into this spot after being next door at M Bar for an event. I love Caribbean food so it was an easy 'yes' when I saw the Jamaican flags in the window. When I walked in, it was so dim that they could have easily been mistaken as closed for the day. But they were actually serving about 7 customers, not including me. Pretty good for a weekday early evening. I wasn't super hungry, moreso, greedy. So I didn't opt for a large dish, as tempting as they were as I perused the menu. The line was moving briskly as it seemed that most guests were waiting around for their plated entrees. Once I was called up to the cashier, I decided to keep it simple and go for a beef patty, coco bread and champagne kola. Always a favorite, simple combo of mine. Less than 5 minutes after ordering, I was called back up and given a hot, huge piece of cocoa bread, a warm beef patty from the display case and I grabbed an ice-cold champagne kola from the fridge. I decided to take a seat and enjoy my food as the coco bread smelled too good to hold off on. Lucky for me, there was a bunch of seating and every other guest was standing and waiting. Upon first glance, I saw that the patty was quite thin but kept pushing. Once I put my patty in the bread (a must), it looked very sad compared to the thick piece of sweet bread. The coco bread was amazingggg, always a fave of mine. But man, there was like, no beef in the patty. :( I was bummed because the flavor was really there! But it could have used 3x more filling to make it a real treat. Although a 3 - 3.5 star experience for me right now, I'll go back one day and try them again and opt for an entree. :)"
"Jerk Chicken had all the right spices, very flavorful not to hot. Just great food. Clean resturant with friendly staff. Worth stopping."
"I must admit, I often forget about this restaurant until I have to run an errand in the vicinity and see the smoke from their grill and smell the delicious jerk scents. When you enter the restaurant there are bright red and yellow colors and there are a few tables and chairs for patrons to dine in. I tend to stop by during the lunch hours and order the jerk chicken meal, which comes with rice and peas and your choice of plantain or cabbage. The jerk chicken is tasty, but often I find the rice and peas could have more peas and they could give you more pieces of plantain to the order. All in all, it's a decent option for takeout Jamaican food and is convenient when I'm in the area and craving some Caribbean eats."
"Jerk chicken lunch for 5.99 with yellow rice n gravy. Extra plantains. 6.42 total You get one side but I am counting calories so I didn't get a side. What I had was delicious and filling even for a big guy like me. I can't wait to go back and try the brown stew chicken and hopefully they have some ox tails. Definitely give this lil gen a try!"
"Do not come here for the customer service. I say again, DO NOT come here for the customer service. Now that we've got that out of the way...Yes, I eat vegetarian foods too!! This has been a staple in Atlanta's West End for a long time. I always grab a the three (3) item plate and a sorrel to drink. They also make smoothies. Oh yeah, don't forget to bring your empty gallon jug so you can re-up on your alkaline water."
"I'm glad there's finally an authentic Jamaican spot in North Decatur. Very affordable. Located in the plaza with goodwill."
"It really is tough to find bad Caribbean food and I certainly didn't find it here. Hole in the wall in Stone Mountain. Just finished a couple of laps around the mountain and was starving. Stopped in for some to go food. The lady who greeted me was friendly but not much help. Asked for a chicken recommendation (brown stew, stewed, jerk, or curry) and she wouldn't even tell me which was most popular or which she preferred, so I just picked one at random and got the brown stew chicken. Loved it. Tons of flavor, slightly spicy, with delicious rice and peas and coleslaw. I got a small and note for you all-a small is plenty for a good meal. Would have preferred more chicken but I did get a small (there was still a lot of rice though). Regardless, I didn't leave a crumb. Doesn't look like much but worth a stop."
"I never patronized this place until they started coming to my job in Gwinett as part of this food service named Fooda. Once a week they travel from East Point to Gwinett to sell/serve a set menu. I intially started off wity the carrot cake. It was very good. Not overly sweet and definitely not dry. The next time they came I decided to get the Jerk Chicken, rice and peas and cabbage. I felt like I wasted my money. The portions were skimpy for the money they charging. They give you a dab of rice and a dab of cabbage. It doesn't even fill the space in the plate. The chicken was excessively dry and overcooked not to mention so hot I couldn't really taste the flavor of the jerk seasoning. The cabbage was raw. Please stop serving raw cabbage. It is not coleslaw. And whatever you do put a decent amount of food on the plate. You guys come once a week yet you still hold back on the portions. Furthermore I live 2 miles from your restaurant and would love to be a regular because you are in my community and you are black owned but not if I'm not getting my money's worth. Just food for thought. I would love to try your food again and brag about it. Many employees complain about the same thing."
"This is a very nice small place sitting right off the road. Really good food but can be pricey. This meal was about $30 so bring your wallet."
"I finally made it to this restaurant. And I like it. Parking: street, valet or public parking all around. Most economical was street. 3 hours for a little over $6. Entrance/decor: nicely dressed doorman, valet and staff. Decor is as is from the pictures. Food: we had lamb chops, cauliflower and wings. Enjoyed all of it. I would have preferred the lamb chops a little more tender. My preference. But everything was seasoned and presentation was perfection. And drinks were very good!!!Service: our waiter was phenomenal. I had tons of questions, and she was very patient. It seemed like it was a busy night. There is a lounge upstairs and a private room downstairs. Upstairs was thumping, Dj and vibes was great. I will definitely return."
"Needing a light dessert, I found this fruit shop on a street corner. The location is closer to both the beltline trail and the MLK complex than I would have guessed.I felt a little silly ordering just fruit and missing out on the coconut cream, but realistically, the reason most of us don't eat enough fruit is convenience. Having some fresh fruit cut and peeled appropriately is not nothing, and in a lot of tropical areas (and in NYC, as of recently), this is quite common. I picked the one I got because it had kiwi in it, but there was plenty of variety and I was satisfied that it was a worthwhile choice. They offer some savory food options as well, and between the coconut cream and the vegan sandwich, this place will work for a lot of people with dietary restrictions."
"This is a fun spot! Perfect for brunch or celebrations. I went on a Sunday just a little after 2 PM and there was a live DJ so the vibes were in full effect. This restaurant also has hookah so I would not suggest for a little children or babies. There is outdoor seating as well as indoor. The menu is pretty salad and the food is delicious. Beware that they do sell a lot of things as the day goes on. It took a while for our food to come out, but our waitress was the best. She was so sweet and gave us a drink on the house."
"Grabbed some food from here while at the Colony Square. No line. But since it was close to closing they ran out of plantains and the mushrooms.I hella wanted some plantains too. Anywho, I ordered the jerk chicken, rice & peas and cabbage. I also ordered jerk shrimp to add. The jerk wasn't too spicy, and I love spicy, so it was pleasant and could taste all the flavors. The rice & peas was good, as well as the cabbage.Everything was good. Especially considering it was the end of day. The quality didn't lack. I'd eat here again."
"My friend recommended this place, and he always orders from here. This is one of his go to places and I can understand why, The food is pretty good. We ordered the oxtail, sweet-and-sour, Jamaican meatballs, and the goat Curry. My friend told me to place the order because as a first time customer they would go the extra mile since I was a new customer and would want to impress me. He swears on this for his own personal experiences and has proven his point when other friends of his had ordered from here. When we got our food I asked if they had given more portions than they usually did for him and he was like "yep they did". He definitely wants to order again while I'm here, I guess we better use up my new customer credits first right lol? But I'm down as well. The flavoring was there. Most importantly it's not over seasoned or over salted so another plus for me. Interested in seeing what else they have to offer."
"Me and a friend of mine decided to stop here to get a quick bite. When we arrived we parked in the public lot. We walked in and were greeted and sat at the bar. I started with the rum punch, and it was good. I then had the jerk shrimp egg rolls, and they were decent, just the sauce was a little sweet. My friend enjoyed their quesadilla. The bill wasn't bad and we had a good experience."
