"Loved it! Get there early as it get super busy by 9AM. The service was fast and friendly. I will say that the service disappeared after we received our plates.Prices were normal for the times ... though a $4 coffee and a $4 bottled water was shocking. The food, though, was amazing. Loved the chicken in waffles .. well seasoned, good coating. The waffles were crunchy outside and cakes inside .. perfect consistency. The souther breakfast has traditional eggs, meat, bread, and grits. Smooth grits with just the right amount of salt and smothered in cheddar cheese. I did request over medium eggs but received over easy. Definitely recommend this restaurant!"
"I stopped in to Mary Mac's on the recommendation of a friend and it did not disappoint! It is honestly just a simple restaurant with delicious home cooked southern food. As I was by myself, I hopped in a seat at the bar and was provided with a drink immediately. I was then able to quickly order a chicken n dumplings meal with bread, sweet potatoes, and broccoli casserole. Even with a sweet tea added in, my final bill was barely $20.00! Let's just say that I tipped generously on the bill, as I also received top notch service. This meal was exactly what I needed as I had a long drive home ahead of me. And I was incredibly grateful to not have to overspend on my last dinner in Atlanta."

"I came here for dinner on a Wednesday night and there was a 15 minute wait.Biscuit & Cornbread - the biscuit was very fluffy and buttery. The cornbread was soft, fluffy, and had bits of corn in it to add some texture. It wasn't as gritty as other cornbreads which I liked.Fried green tomatoes - I'm not a huge fan of goat cheese but I really liked how all the flavors worked together. The tanginess of the marinara balanced the goat cheese well.Cornmeal Spoonbread - the beef was mostly tender but some pieces were dry. The cornmeal base had a similar texture to an egg frittata. The dish had a lot of flavor.Peach Salad - all the flavors worked well together surprisingly. I really liked the peach yogurt and the slices of peaches. It was a refreshing salad.Springer Mountain Farms Fried Chicken - the flavor was good but the chicken was very dry. The collard greens were okay but lacked flavor. The mashed potatoes were some of the best mashed potatoes I've had surprisingly. It was smooth and creamy with a little bit of potato chunks and skin."
"The building is green and white and on the corner.I love places like this. Filled with locals and they put so much love into the food. The inside and outside looks like this place was built in the 70s and has been kept together with stickers. On my first visit, I sat at the bar area and ordered the comfy chicken biscuit. Open faced biscuit loaded with chicken strips and country gravy. The gravy has a ton of sausage in it. Food is inexpensive and loaded with flavor. I want to try everything on the menu.On my second visit, I sat at the bar and ordered the chicken sandwich and chocolate chip pancake. The pancake is covered in powder sugar and tastes amazing. Perfect balance of firm and soft. The chicken sandwich is simple yet good. Chicken strips on Texas toast with ranch, spinach, and tomato."
"If you are in town and/or want to try something totally different? This place is for you. First off, don't think you are going to casually walk in without a reservation. Be sure to have reservations or you will not be seated at all! 8:15pm reservations on a Saturday night we were seated a few minutes after, shared long table for two we sat right across from each other. The server handed us a paper menu and explained the way this place works. Allow me to break it down: There are anywhere between five and seven (+/-) talented chefs cooking in plain view and offer a menu of shared items. The list of about 10 items or so will come out randomly, brought out by the chef who made it and you get to decide whether you want it or not. The catch - if you decide to pass on it there is no guarantee it will come back again. So, review the menu and when it comes your way you have an idea if you want it . Anxiety level? 10 at first! We said YES to the first three dishes but after that we got the hang of it. Don't like it after you accepted it? You're stuck with it, buddy. Drinks? Cocktail menu is broken down into two - the ones they have at the bar and the ones they prepare table side. Yes, table side - pretty cool. There's a video i posted. Take a look! The menu changes either daily / weekly but here's my ultimate lowdown. Food: Talented chefs. The creation on the plate makes you think you're on a TV show (except you're paying for it). The flavors primarily were on point and the presentation was without fail. The tableside cocktail drinks were definitely a show but felt it was lacking on the alcohol level. Final thoughts: Great place for something DIFFERENT. Who knows, you may have just stumbled on the next greatest chef. The concept is like something we've never been part of. Food was good overall, even the ones we passed on looked appealing but we can't eat EVERYTHING!The service? For being this busy was top notch. Very attentive and making sure we were good. 5 Stars. You'll have a great time if you are open-minded. Just give it a try. Oh - last thing. Crab Stuffed Chicken Wings. HOW? You'll have to go to find out."
"i would say this 3 is more like a 3.5. the food wasnt really that good which was disappointing but the service was really good and everyone was super sweet. i got the bad to the bone (pulled pork sandwich that was on DDD) with mac n cheese. the sandwich didnt really have any flavor it deff needed some bbq sauce on it. the mac n cheese really wasnt flavorful either it was just meh. i left super disappointed ngl. everything was also a little greasy. i really wanted to like it but i just wasnt impressed."
"Chic and modern. Creative take on southern classics.Colleagues and I walked from the conference hotel, Westin. This place was buzzing at 7. No more tables but spaces at the bar were open and suited us just fine. Bartender suggest Fried Green Tomatoes to start--served beautifully on top of oil and tomato sauce. We loved! He made a nice Manhattan with Buffalo Trace and served a fantastic bread basket with perfect corn muffins, biscuits, and butter. I ordered a second appetizer: smoked pork belly. OMG. Super tasty and perfectly crisped on the outside, soft inside, and on a delicious syrup. My friend went good and bad. Caesar salad with fried chicken and fried okra. Did it right!Every seat at the bar was taken while we were there on a Wednesday. People next to us had delicious trout. Prices were decent for this high quality food and great ambiance. Cheers from Peachtree!"
"Such a gem. I love the ambiance of this place. There was a dresser / drawer as soon as you walk in and it's such a statement piece. I ordered the special omelet they had with mushroom, cheese, and bacon. I'm not a fan of omelets but this one was delicious. It also came with two sides so I ordered more bacon and potatoes. It was definitely more than enough. My friend and I stayed here for more than 90 minutes just catching up and we didn't feel rushed to go. We did get here around 9 and it wasn't busy. Def got busy towards 11, so a heads up. My friend also got the pancakes and it was the best pancakes I've ever had. I also don't like syrup much but this one was perfect. Not too sweet, but sweet enough. YUM. Highly recommend. Will be back."
"About a 1-1.5: We checked out Sweet Georgia's Juke Joint as a group for an early dinner; note that nowhere on the site is it mentioned that each member of your party will get charged $5 for the 'live music', automatically, added to your check. Also, you have a limit of 2 hours at your table.Getting seated was prompt, and we had a pretty good view of the stage and the performers without much obstruction. The menu is very limited, but they do 'run out' of items (aka, not prepared on time); we went the first day that they had opened for the week, and they were already out of several entrees...I tried:+the Fried Green Tomatoes - the batter was overfried, and the tomatoes were just not ripened nor were they cooked long enough+Juke Cheeseburger - I actually wanted to try their Braised Short Rib, but they were out; the burger itself was okay, as it came with cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, and onions, served with a side of fries; the fries were not made-to-order, as they were cold and soggyOur server was inattentive and rarely checked in on us. She also was not detail-oriented and didn't really listen; she carelessly dropped off dessert that no one ordered, and then tried to blame it on us... really? The only decent part of this experience was the live music. In between sets, they played old-school music videos. The place is a bit dark, and definitely could use a deep clean.Definitely not worth a visit.+inattentive service+inaccurate orders+$5 automatic 'cover charge' per person for live music"
"If I had to sum my experience up in one word, it would be Astonishing. From the Pre-Arrival to the departure, everything about The Southern Gentleman (TSG) was amazing. Deciding to take my sistie out for her birthday, TSG appeared in my Yelp search results. Exploring the images and the reviews that appeared I decided to checkout the website. After falling in love with the menu it was a green light. I clicked the link to make a reservation and was taken to Open Table. The process itself was simple, easy, and to the point. Once it was booked I was able to send the info to all those in my party as they could add it to their calendars. As we decided to go on a Saturday at 2:15 pm, I called TSG the day before to ensure that when they closed at 3:00 pm we wouldn't have to leave. As I anticipated, since we would be inside already, we didn't have to depart while they switched over from brunch to lunch/dinner. The young lady who answered the phone was super pleasant, very vibrant, and understood my question. She provided first call resolution and further enhanced my excitement to experience TSG. Can you tell it was my first time? LoL!!!Finally Saturday was upon us and it was time to go. As TSG sits in the area with all the shops, parking wasn't the easiest on the street, however, there is a valet option. TSG sits on the upper level so needless to say I was lost for a few minutes. Walking up to the restaurant, the scenery is gorgeous and the ambiance is immediately set. Beautiful clean lines, white drapes, open patio, glass front, I'm talking all of that and more. The space is infectious and truly draws you in. I opened the door and was greeted by a hostess with a huge smile and pleasant demeanor. She welcomed me in and asked how many. Once I provided her my name she showed us to our seats and the TSG experience was in full go mode. Taking a moment to get settled in our booth and take in the great artwork, eye-catching bar, and beautiful hardwood floors. I told y'all, astonishing. Mykieya approached our table and I was instantly amazed. Her smile, her warm introduction, her service first approach to taking our drink order, whew! Mykieya understands the art of providing stellar service which led to my astonishing experience. Ok. Now! Hear me out. We have gone through the Pre-Arrival - Awesome. I just brought you on my journey of arriving - Awesome. By this time I am on a Happy Service High and I haven't even ordered yet. Speaking of ordering... Babeeeeeeeeeee!!!Hear ye, Hear ye! As if the service wasn't enough, the nerve of management to hire a chef that literally knocked EVERY SINGLE DISH OUT OF THE PARK!!!!! I'm talking flavor, texture, blends and soul pleasing moments of pure bliss. Whew!Let's talk food:For Appetizers,Mac & Cheese - Cheesy, Flavorful, Perfectly Done, WELL above any restaurant made Mac I have ever had. A truly homestyle, grandmother made experience. Chocolate Chip Banana Bread - This secret dish was spot on. Sweet with notes of Savory and all moments of soft baked, well crafted goodness. Deviled Eggs - OhEmGeeeeee. The Deviled portion (LoL) of these eggs was thick, creamy, well blended, well seasoned, and then... as if I wasn't already in love. The gall of the chef to top it with crumbles of perfectly crisp baconnnnnnnnn. Mj Drink,Sweet Tea - Hunni, the brew was Brewin and this tea hit the spot. Sweet. Southern. Stirred. Very Delicious. Very Demoure. My Main Dish,Southern Fried Chicken - Why did I order this???? This dish stole my entire heart. The pancake tasted like my mother was in back showing off with that cast iron skillet. Crispy edges, soft middle, thick, and huge. This pancake was a showstopper all by itself. However, hold on because in comes the Maple Syrup. Whoa! The syrup was thin and rich. The thinness of it allowed the pancake to soak it up even better. Forget the fact that the chicken was well seasoned, well battered, golden fried, southern seasoned, and best of all... The Bombbbbbbbbbbbbbb. Yes! Forget all that as the pancake had and still (4 days later) has me in a chokehold of love and yearn for another. Every Single Thing I Tasted at TSG has a place in my foodie museum in my head. The portions are great. The pricing point is in line with the quality of the food. And who could forget the service. Great Good. Great Ambiance. Great Service. This was a TRUE DEFINITION of a 5 Star experience... I'll be back VERY SOON!!!!"
"We hosted our team building brunch on Juneteenth and decided to support a black-owned restaurant on that day. We decided on Roc South. I have been a patron since they opened and have always had a great dining experience. This time was no different. My colleagues and I enjoyed our food and the service was outstanding. Even with our large party, there was no wait on food and all the orders came out correctly. They all commented on the vibe of the restaurant and many said they would come back. Thank you to the manager who was so professional and accommodating in booking our reservation and the entire staff on that day. Again, I highly recommend dining here. Favorites: Seafood dip, Gumbo, Fried chicken and waffles, Lobster & grits (I'm sure the catfish or shrimp and grits are good too), Steak and eggs"
"I came here for my friend's birthday brunch this past Saturday afternoon. I came early about 20 minutes due to a miscommunication, but the staff took care of me during this period and gave me a free water.Parking is at an adjacent apartment/retail garage or at the intersection of Huff Road/Ellsworth Industrial Blvd for parallel parking. We had a party of 9, some of us showing up at different times. Our server Taylor did such a great job at attending to our table, with drink refills and food orders. Later I paid using Apple Pay and she was also helpful.I ordered a sweet tea as my drink, and it was delicious. It sounds like you have to pay for refills, so I didn't get one.For food, we shared the bread basket and I got the Shrimp & Crab Cake Benedict, Mac and Cheese as a side (of course), and the Peach Cobbler for dessert. Everything was so good. The portions are big, so just note that. I was worried the bread basket wouldn't be enough for 9, but I think we all got to try a little bit of each bread type. The dip they provided was very yummy. Overall, everyone at the table enjoyed their food, so I might consider returning to try more menu items - especially the fried green tomatoes."

On our way out of town, we decided to stop by Atlanta Breakfast Club, and it was an excellent choice! I ordered the Dirtybird. The dish includes waffles, sausage, gravy, and an egg - a perfect combination for a hearty breakfast. Everything was absolutely amazing. The waffles were fluffy, the sausage was flavorful, and the gravy added a rich, savory touch. I also requested hot sauce on the side, which added a nice kick to the meal. The portion size was generous. If you're looking for a hearty breakfast that will leave you satisfied, I would definitely recommend this spot. The atmosphere is welcoming.

Must visit!! I called ahead to verify that they were open as many businesses were closed the last day of Hurricane Helene. The lady who answered the phone replied they "were waiting for me to get down there as everyone was bored and wanting to talk to me." She told me to put my shoes on and drive safe. Now what better invitation could I get than that. This is probably my fourth or fifth time coming to Mary Mac's. No visit to Atlanta is complete without an outing here for some delicious southern food. I was seated in the Ponce Room to the left of the main entrance. The walls of every room are lined with newspaper articles featuring the restaurant as well as pictures of famous people who have eaten at Mary Mac's. I had the pleasure of being helped by my waitress Kam. She was extremely sweet and kind. Very personable. Couldn't have asked for a better or nicer person. She asked for my name which is unusual in California but is probably normal in the south. I loved that she used my name throughout the evening. I started the with the cocktail - Mary Mac's Peach Mojito. It is strong! The Bacardi was a good complement to the peach nectar which got stuck in the straw so you will probably need a larger one. For my second cocktail, I went with the Georgia Peach Martini. Holy moly it is fire. It is sweet and a little too sugary but has lots of booze. Beware for those who are faint of heart. For dinner, I ordered the Chicken Fried Chicken with broccoli soufflé and macaroni and cheese. The portion of the chicken is huge. The chicken is moist and the coating is crispy. It is served with a great white pepper gravy. As a lover of broccoli, I had to get the broccoli soufflé and it is fantastic. I think it has a bread crumb topping. The macaroni and cheese was fine but I was underwhelmed. For dessert, I went with the peach cobbler is bordering on hot so be careful. If you are not careful, you will burn your mouth. Blow on it. It was essentially apple pie but with peaches. It has large slices of peaches with cut outs of pie crust. It was okay. I expected more. Fantastic music playing in the back - R&B and Soul - Earth, Wind & Fire, One Way, Rick James, Luther Vandross, Donna Summer. I wanted to get up and start a dance party in the middle of the restaurant. If you are in Atlanta, you have to come here. Be ready for a great meal and time!

South City Kitchen is one of my go-to restaurants whenever I'm in Atlanta. I had a team dinner with my colleagues at this location on my most recent visit, and everything was solid. Here's a quick rundown of my experience: Service - Superb! Our server appeared to be seasoned, well-trained, and completely on point. Despite the restaurant being crowded, service was fast, efficient, and plates were cleared soon after everyone finished their meal.Food - The server overhyped the fried chicken. I think he said they won second best fried chicken in the US. It was indeed a great dish, but I've had crunchier and better seasoned fried chicken in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Tennessee. Don't get too big for your britches, South City Kitchen. Lol... Also, the collard greens, fried green tomatoes appetizer (not pictured), and complimentary cornbread (not pictured) were all delicious!Ambiance - The Midtown location of South City Kitchen has lots of character. The old building, patio, and overall design of the space felt a lot like the iconic restaurants in the New Orleans French Quarter. Unfortunately, the building does have poor acoustics, and this was one of the loudest meals I've had in a long time as a cacophony of background chatter filled the entire space.

A hidden treasure in East Atlanta. Parking in back but it's usually full so be patient and someone will leave so you can jump in. Lol. They said it was a half hour wait but a table opened up after 5. Winning!!It's a quick space with 2 large dining areas. Service is super friendly and efficient. Our server came right over and got us drinks. After we placed our order food was out pretty quickly. Portions are generous. The menu is pretty extensive with simple to complex items. Think waffles and eggs to chicken fried steak and everything in between. So stop by if you're in the area and have a nosh!

Met a friend for a walk on the Beltline followed by brunch. She chose this place as she had been to this one as well as the Decatur location. It has a neighborhood vibe, serving a diverse clientele. Young and old were present. There were mimosas and Bloody Marys all around as it was brunch. The hostess and waitstaff took great care of us as we waited to be seated. My friend had the traditional breakfast plate with eggs, toast, fruit, and veggie sausage. I had the Belgian Sweet Potato Waffle with hash browns and veggie sausage. I don't like hyperbole, but always give credit where it's due. This was one of the best waffles I've had in my life. Texture, flavor, and serving size were perfect. I'll go back again just for the waffle. I've used sweet potato in my pizza crust and like it in my tortilla chips. This made me want to create my own waffle/pancake recipe utilizing sweet potato. The menu had a lot of choices, but you may have to ask questions for vegan options. The inside was uniquely decorated with conversations going in all corners of the restaurant. Loud, but not over the top noisy. It was good for groups as well as singles and couples as there were high tops, a bar with stools, tables, and booths. Would recommend this place to anyone looking for a great brunch spot.

Came here for Sunday brunch with my bestie from out of town. Not much for southern or fried food but she wanted to try some and came here after seeing such good reviews!I am so glad we did! We both ordered salads with their friend chicken which were so amazing! The Chicken was to die for! It was well seasoned, like sooo good. Perfect portions too! My only issue was sitting up top with the gorgeous city view- they have curtains and they closed the curtains which made it all dark and honestly a totally different vibe- we asked the same waiter to partially open and he said it's all or nothing, only thing that would make it better or partial curtains lol.Other than that, service was good and food phenomenal. Loved the green tomatoes!

"This is a fun spot! Perfect for brunch or celebrations. I went on a Sunday just a little after 2 PM and there was a live DJ so the vibes were in full effect. This restaurant also has hookah so I would not suggest for a little children or babies. There is outdoor seating as well as indoor. The menu is pretty salad and the food is delicious. Beware that they do sell a lot of things as the day goes on. It took a while for our food to come out, but our waitress was the best. She was so sweet and gave us a drink on the house."
"While in town, we had dinner here. We made a reservation for a prime dinner time and it looked like everyone else did too. The spot is cozy with separate rooms which gives it a nice feel. Service was fantastic- very, very attentive. We tried the farm egg over grilled bread ($12) which is a unique but amazing dish. It's a creamy egg with celery flavoring that you dip bread into. Amazing. We also tried the Chinese Pancake special for $14 which was an upscale version of Scallion Pancakes which was a wonderful take on this classic dish. The two apps alone were worth the dinner. We tried the steak for $38 and the fish of the day for $44. Both dishes were fantastically flavored, plated, and seasoned. My fish had almost Indian style flavor which I wasn't expecting but was delicious. Despite being full, we indulged in the ganache cake for dinner ($13) which again tasted as good as it was presented. Cocktails delicious. Service amazing. Food top notch. Highly recommend!"
"What a delicious experience. I've been visiting this place since 2012 when I first took my now wife on a date here. I still get the exact same dish and more than 11 years later it still tastes amazing. I always get the springer mountain fried chicken meal. What a satisfying dish. Fried chicken over a bed of mashed potatoes and collard greens. The service from the staff is always impeccable."
"A lot of people rave over the chicken, but honestly I didn't taste much flavor. The bread pudding and collard greens were really good though. The mac & cheese was pretty good as well. It did cure the craving I had acquired just hours before coming here. I love spicy drinks and while they don't have any on the menu, the bartender did go to the kitchen to find some jalapeños so that he could whip me up a spicy margarita. It was good too! Shout out to the bartender who was working that night."
"I came out of a visit to BJ's hungry and longing for home cooking. Who feeds the South? "Old Ladies", that's who. Imagine that your granny and her friends opened a soul food joint and then made it sort of trendy with a bar and soft soul music on the radio. The plat I ordered was the fish dinner with a side of grits and collards. I am a collard cooking fool and these measures up. Really good flavor with a tiny hint of sweetness. The fish is cornmeal breaded, just like the ones we have in South Georgia. My server Rann helped me choose this. He is the best, he suggested the grits as a side. The grits btw were perfect creamy corn grits. Not hard or watery, they were perfect. Finally, the corn muffin was great. It was a cross between sweet and plain meal."
"On a recent trip to ATL, with my Canadian colleague, I insisted she try some good southern cooking and soul food. After perusing a variety of restaurants we landed here on a Tuesday late afternoon. It was not that busy, lots of staff standing around. Not sure if this is a newer restaurant in terms of location (I know the backstory and it has been around for decades) and that is why things felt disjointed. Our server took about 10 minutes to even come to our table. We ordered some basic (non bar) drinks. Water and a ginger ale. I was disappointed that the entire time we were there the staff never came to refill the waters as I chug through at least 2-3 glasses when dining. The food was GOOD. I ordered the fried chicken platter, my sides being brussels and mashed potatoes. I will say that the brussels were DELISH, and the Fried Chicken was excellent. Moist and juicy with just the right amount of 'fry' to it. Seemed to be the same coating/batter they use for the fried green tomatoes. Saved some room for the famous peach cobbler which was good, but did not knock my socks off or anything. I loved watching the robots deliver the food to the tables. Very cool, and nice that servers are not having to run back and forth however it seemed like they did not utilize that time to ensure their tables had refilled water or my colleague wanted another ginger ale but never got the opportunity to order one. Food was good - service was good balanced between things that went well and opportunities."
"Eats is such a gem. I'm so glad that they are still surviving despite everything going up around it. The food is simple, affordable, and straightforward you just have to know what to get. My favorite is the Lemon Pepper Chicken. You get a 1/2 chicken well seasoned for less than $7. I normally order that with the mashed potatoes and gravy and a side salad. They used to offer meals but now everything is a La carte. Which is still reasonable priced. Sides are about $3. They also offer pastas like lasagna, spaghetti and ziti. The black beans and rice have no flavor. Neither does the Mac and cheese.Service is minimal. There are no waiters you place your order at the counter and choose from whatever seats are available and once your order is ready you pick it up at the counter. There are guys that come by and clear the tables after customers eat. It's super low key nothing fancy, family and kid friendly. No reservations whole in the wall vibes, but nonetheless a true classic. If you're looking for good food at a great price you can't go wrong with Eats"
"Diner/cafe style vibes with a good sized menu. Service was fast and food was tasty. I enjoyed the Mac and cheese, and the fried chicken on a biscuit with pimento cheese. Food was fairly priced. Perfect for a quick breakfast or lunch."
"I had so much expectation for this place. It was just okay to me.I got there maybe 30 mins after they were open during the week. I ended up stopping here because it's not that far from the airport.Plenty of parking on the side of the building. I wanted to try the turkey but that was not ready. I ended up trying the smoked salmon and the beef brisket. The smoked salmon was tasty. The beef brisket was tough! The Mac and cheese and dressing were tasty. I waited about 30 mins for my food. That's a long time to me. It was only about 5 other customers there and 4 of them already were eating. So the wait time to get your food is not great especially when your not busy. They also add additional fees to your receipt when you order it to go.The prices are high. I don't mind spending money on good food but I want to at least satisfied after I eat. This was not the case here. I shared it with my husband he did not care for it either. I won't return."
"As good as everyone says! Food came out piping hot and seasoned to perfection! They also have wonderful service: very attentive and kind."
"Five stars, to me, is relative. Colonnade is five stars in its class. Classic, Southern supper club. It's feels relaxed and special. The best bartender in town. She's truly special. And the dining room staff are all excellent and pleasant. We love the chicken livers. The Saturday special- Prime rib- is crave-worthy. And I love the Marion salad. (I think of my grandmother, Marion. ) Hubs loves the collards too. Shoutout to Christina- our favorite server. Lord willing, we should all be here to celebrate The Colonnade's 100th anniversary in 2027!"
"This place is in a strip mall/shopping center. The parking lot is pretty small but I am usually able to find a parking spot.I ordered this food to go. Staff was very nice and friendly. Took less than 10 minutes for me to get my food.I got the 1/4 white rotisserie chicken, meatloaf, with broccoli casserole and mac. I also got an order of peach cobbler with roll and cornbread. This was way too much food to eat in one sitting so I tried a sampling of everything while it was hot. They gave the peach cobbler cold but offered to heat it up for me.The chicken tasted great and the bbq made it even better. Meatloaf doesn't look good but it tastes pretty good and the bbq sauce gives it a kick as well. The broccoli casserole is my favorite side with plenty of cheese. The mac is decent but not my favorite. The peach cobbler is also decent. I put the cornbread over the roll."
"We had a reservation for 5 for brunch at 11:30 am on Sunday, 7/28/24. Sean was our waiter and he was wonderful! So patient with us! The average age of the customers skewed higher. Seems like a lot of retirees frequent the restaurant. Everyone was very sweet! They have a good selection of liquor at the bar, and it seems like they're known for their whisky. Very casual. They have high chairs! We split 2 appetizers and each got our own entrée. Here's what we got:- Pimento Cheese Fritters ($14): Good.- Blueberry Baked French Toast ($14): Glad we split this. It was really good and sweet, but I couldn't have eaten the entire dish myself.- Sprig Classic Burger ($14) with Sweet Potato Fries (+ $2): The burger was good. The fries would've been great if they weren't so salty.Others in my party had the Veggie Omelet ($14), Chilaquiles ($14), and Breakfast Croissant ($14). All were pretty average. The veggies weren't cooked into the omelet, just sandwiched between the egg. The portions were also pretty small.Decent food, reasonably priced, portions on the smaller side. Good service!"
"Stopped by Righetous 'Que when I was in the area. I periodically like to hunt for the best brisket. I don't think I found that, but I still found a very good meal.Prices at Righteous 'Que are competitive. I really wish I saw the Pat Bowl special. Look at the chalk board that is mid-way between the door and the counter on your way in for potentially interesting specials. Instead, I got a brisket sandwich, fries, and a drink.Biggest highlight of Righteous 'Que is the fact that they have Cherry Coke on the soda fountain. I'll one day make a 100% commitment to not being a fat fool anymore, but til then, Cherry Coke is amazing.Food was good. Portioning of the brisket was more than fair. I just wish it could've been more than meat and bread. A sandwich doesn't have to be too fancy. I would've loved two slices of pickles. An empire was built off a sandwich garnished with only 2 slices of pickles."
"I was heading home and on 285. Did a quick search for a breakfast joint on the Yelp app. This popped up with good reviews. Dang am I glad I found it! It was busy on a Sunday morning. Luckily I snagged a place at the bar. Got a coffee. Ordered the breakfast dumplings and then the hash with some eggs over easy on it. OMG both were amazing! The dumplings had a breakfast like sausage in them with a maple syrup on top. The hash had a ton of meat and cheese. Was super filling. Service was great at the bar. Food was amazing. I highly recommend for breakfast!"
"Naturally, (being from Nebraska) we opted for this breakfast spot based solely on the name! We were created by friendly smiling faces for 2 of our 3 mornings in Stone Mountain because we enjoyed Huskers Cafe THAT much. Good coffee, good food, good people- what more could you ask for? The restaurant is located in a strip mall and is a pretty nice and inviting place inside! They serve breakfast and lunch (not sure about dinner). I had their chicken and waffle for my first time there and had the sausage, egg, and cheese biscuit the 2nd trip there. The chicken and waffle were great! The chicken was breaded, seasoned, and cooked to perfection and with the waffle and syrup was a perfect pairing! Their syrup comes out in preheated bottles which is a nice touch. Their syrup isn't as sweet as I am accustomed to so keep that in mind. The sausage, egg, and cheese biscuit was amazing. Biscuit is moist and buttery but held its own on the sandwich."
"I wanna love this place, really. I'm going to be in the minority here, but honestly, I don't think it's that great. I know lots of people love this place, but when I went back recently, it wasn't the place I remembered from awhile back. This place is super quaint, running out of an old, historic house. It's very popular for lunch as the line and the small, gravel lot fills up shortly after they open at 11. If you drive into the lot and find it full, good luck backing out. It's tight. In case you miss the signs, there's additional parking at Osteria Mattone.I was pretty excited about the cuban thinking ... a place with pickle in the name serving a sandwich that has good pickle presence ... should be legit. It was good, decent. The creole thing gave it a nice punch. It's just not a cuban. Not on the right bread, not the right kind of pork, etc. The coleslaw I ordered was less like salad and more like soup.Tuna melt was good but again nothing epic. Potato salad definitely not my favorite. Now, I will say those fried pickles breaded in cornmeal and deep-fried are worth coming for. Delicious!"
"Visiting in Atlanta and wanted to try another fried chicken place. Had tried Gus' already. Wasn't expecting to try Korean style but glad we did. Four of us thought the chicken was delicious...nicely fried and juicy (even the white meat). We also tried their green salad (cabbage and corn with a 1000 Island-type dressing), Kimchee mac and cheese (not to our liking), and the Korean corn (kernels with mozzarella cheese). Didn't get a pic of our 1/2 bird before we chowed at it. For the Taiwan Beer, this was the least favorite version that we tried (mango and lychee were great tasting). The establishment itself was simple, with some bench seating and regular chairs around tables, black walls and a couple of tvs.You order at the counter and the menu is clearly displayed on the wall. The cashier was cheerful and welcoming. It wasn't long for our order to come up and the chicken was piping hot. We chose the honey garlic sauce, which was like the Asian take of syrup (a bit too much on the sweet side). It's definitely a place to go try when you're over there. Yum!"
"First time visiting, and I had really built up my expectations due to a friend's reviews. Unfortunately, I was a little let down. You order cafeteria style, choosing what you'd like as you walk along the serving trays. Servers load up your selections on your plate and you move down to the end to pay, then seat yourself in one of several dining areas. The prices were very reasonable, but I felt that the food was quite average.FOOD: We tried several different protein selections: Fried Chicken, Pot Roast, and Chicken Tenders, as well as a few sides: Green Beans, Mashed Potatoes, Southern Greens, Cornbread, and Salad. The skin on the Fried Chicken was crispy, but the meat was a little dry. The Pot Roast was overcooked, and everything could have used a little more seasoning. It's possible that since we visited shortly before they closed, that the food may have been better earlier on.Overall, Matthews Cafeteria is a cool place, and the staff was friendly, but the food was just okay. I would give it another try, earlier in the day, so I could get the food when it comes fresh out of the kitchen."
"I've had the good fortune to come here twice. First with some friends, second time with a large alumni gathering. Both times were excellent experiences. The food was prepared to perfection. And the service was provided with attention to detail.Parking is easy, and so is the menu, which is a celebration of Southern flavors with a modern twist. The she-crab soup will make you spank your date. My date spanked me over the crispy Brussels sprouts. I spanked myself over how good the shimp and grits were--a revelation, with plump, perfectly cooked shrimp nestled in a bed of creamy, cheesy grits that were packed with flavor. The dish was topped with a savory gravy that tied everything together beautifully.Service was impeccable throughout our meal, with our server being attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. The ambiance was cozy yet elegant, making it an ideal spot for both casual dinners and special occasions.Good stuff. I'll happily go back. Holler if you want some company."
"MUST VISIT BRUNCH SPOT - Folk Art has always been one of my go-to brunch spots in Atlanta - I was excited to see them open a second location in Decatur (slightly closer to me than their first location). When we arrived, we had the pup in tow, but there was some limited outdoor seating. It was a bit chilly outside but we had prepared for the elements and they did have some heaters. I'm an iced coffee girl but it was way too cold while sitting outside - so two hot coffees were necessary. We started with sweet potato beignets because those were my favorites from the original location. They weren't as pretty as the ones I remembered but still tasted delicious. We went with the Short Rib & Grits and the Folk Southern Fried and found both dishes to be delicious, albeit a bit on the heavy side of the brunch spectrum. The outdoor seating is a bit sparse so definitely don't recommend it unless you're ok with braving the elements! We also had some extremely slow service due partially to the power outage that occurred during the meal, as well as the server having to run out from the busy restaurant inside. But I suppose that's weekend brunch for ya!"
"I really wish I could add half stars, as I would rate my experience a 3.5. I went on a Saturday around 5 pm. It was still considered brunch up until 6pm. They have a private parking lot in the rear of the restaurant. There was a $10 parking fee so I would have assumed the lot was being overseen by the attendants who were out there, however that was not the case. I'm assuming they only charged because it was brunch time as by the time we got back to the car to leave. The parking attendants were gone and it was now free to park. There is an entrance off the main road, as well as an entrance in the back. For the rear entrance you have to walk up a couple sets of stairs from the parking lot. Outside the rear entrance there's a grass wall. The restaurant is honestly inline with most grass wall restaurants. It's good to sit back and vibe. They offer hookah of course, but if you choose to partake you're sat in a separate room. The playlist was on point, with quite a few Beyonce songs played. Not sure if that's why it's called the hive. However the music was really loud, we could barely hear each other during dinner. We were seated immediately. Our server was very nice however it seems staff would communicate what items are sold out prior to ordering. We placed our order, and afterwards she came back 3 times to advised items were sold out or unavailable. The food and drinks were definitely overpriced but everything was honestly very flavorful and delicious. The waters and non alcoholic beverages came out in clear plastic cups. When asking for the dipping sauces that were supposed to come with the egg rolls they brought them out in black wicker type basket along with extra napkins. It was definitely throwing off the setting with the picnic-esque items."
"I love HH for breakfast. Always get the plate w/ scrambled eggs & cheese, bacon, grits & biscuits. The size of their biscuits varies based on who's making them that day. Today was a good biscuit day. Nice & large. I've never really been a fan of their BBQ except that I do love their Brunswick stew. But based on other reviews, maybe I should give the ribs a try sometime. They're always packed on Saturday which is when we've visited recently. Servers are always nice & attentive. We'll return for sure."
