Apple Ridge Cafe

We just had our first visit to Apple Ridge Cafe on a Tuesday morning and were impressed by the food, service and the atmosphere. This truly feels like a neighborhood cafe where everyone is friendly and many customers must return frequently. The coffee was very good - not flat diner coffee. Service was quick and coffee refills kept coming even though they were very busy.I had a Matzatlan Burrito and it was loaded with fresh avocado and green chile sauce.This was a very enjoyable breakfast and we would definitely come again.

I was in the area and wanted something to eat. Found this little cafe and it was packed! It's a very old quaint diner. I notice it does cater to the older crowd. Service was great. Quick and simple. It's a small dining room so it was nice to get my cup filled up as needed without asking. Definitely appreciate the staff. The busser was so nice flipping tables and making sure the seats were clean and wiped down. Food was good. It was a simple cafe breakfast that I can't rave about too much. However, the cinnamon roll was very good. Probably the second best I have had in Colorado. It beats that Johnstown roll that people talk about. Bacon was cooked but not over cooked. Just the right bite. The serving size it huge! Be ready for a carb load after you finish your proteins. Overall, if I'm in the area I'd come back for the cinnamon roll. I drive by this long time diner (42 years per owner Roy Jones) every morning during the week in Wheat Ridge. I noticed that they had closed for a remodel in mid February. After 5 weeks, they reopened this week with a new look. The outside and inside brick walls switched from tan to grey. I saw new brighter lights throughout. New floors, new booths, and my server said the kitchen was completely gutted and replaced with all new equipment. Their menu however stayed the same with some increased prices. My server, Vicky said the owner Roy Jones paid everyone a few hundred dollars a week to keep his staff during the remodel. Vicky greeted long-time customers who came in and remembered their favorites. I got a large OJ with the Mazatlan Burrito. The breakfast burrito was stuffed with bacon, avocado and scrambled eggs, then covered with cheese and green chili. It was served with a large portion of hot hash browns. They accept debit/credit cards and provide a discount for each time if you pay cash.

I was in the area at 5:30 AM looking for a breakfast place that was already open to get a breakfast burrito and Apple Ridge Cafe was there for me in the early hours. This is a local spot for sure. If you go in the morning you will get to hear all the local guys talking about everything that is going on. They have their regular booths, come in and give the poor waitress a hard time. She can dish it back for sure, but it make for some pretty comical entertainment while you are waiting for breakfast.Apple Ridge Cafe offered a big breakfast burrito. It is stuffed with potatoes and eggs then smothered in a New Mexican style green chile that was excellent. I could just enjoy a bowl of that chili with some eggs and would be very happy. The potatoes are good, but there are a lot of them in the burrito so you walk out full and satisfiedWhen I return I want to try the pregnant burrito. I wish I would have caught this on the menu before I ordered. It is a burrito that is stuffed with a chile relleno inside. Must I say more?There was only one waitress working while I was there, but she had that whole place under control. The knows what the regulars want for their breakfast and she makes sure that food comes out of the kitchen in a hurry. Fun place for a breakfast if you get a chance.

My friends decided to go here recently for an early lunch. We all ordered breakfast items, I ordered the 2+2+2 which included 2 pieces of bacon, 2 eggs and 2 pieces of French toast. I found it ho-hum, however, my friend's orders looked delicious. If I return, I'll definitely order something else. The service was great and our waitress was very engaging, I reached for menus which were located nearby and she asked me if I wanted to take our order. Our food arrived hot and the coffee was decent. The ambiance is typical diner style with booths along the sides and in the middle of the restaurant.

We tried this place out a couple months back. The breakfast burrito and the green chili omelette were both quite good. Service was great this day. I shall return.

First, the staff. They were amazing. It was like walking into a diner you'd been going to all your life. They were super sweet, gave their favorites and made it feel very homey. Second, the food. I'm from New Mexico originally so I'm really picky with green chili. I was a little skeptical but they brought a little sampler and that was it. It was so good. Had a decent amount of spice, good flavor, the closest thing to New Mexico green chili that I've ever had outside of NM. We have gone twice now and if we lived here it would be a weekend tradition. So good, great job guys.

Do not let the no frills decorations and the rushing around deter you from Apple Ridge Cafe. This place is putting out phenomenal food!When you first enter, especially if it is busy, it is very confusing on what you are expected to do or where you are expected to stand and wait. There is a coffee bar type stand near the front door. If there is a wait there will be a notebook with a pen near it, that is the waitlist. Put your name down, no one is going to tell you to do this, so I hope you are reading this before you have this awkward first time experience. Once a table opens one of the waitresses will call your name and direct you to an open table, a la "Jess, all the way in the back" and you walk right over and sit. From there she will drop a menu and you are off. It is a very chill environment that some may find rude, personally I just think it is efficient. Now, onto the good stuff. The food here is phenomenal!!! If not for the lack of guidance on how to put myself on the waitlist I would give this place 5 stars on the food alone. We got a cinnamon roll the size of a child's head and it was heavenly!!! They are not siting with the glaze/ frosting and I appreciate that so much, just look at that photo!We followed that with a pregnant burrito, which is a chili relleno in a burrito with beans smothered in green chili and cheese. The green chili is the perfect balance of porky green chili and spice. I have thought about it at least 3 times since we had it. We also got a Mexican skillet (not pictured), which was veggies, hash browns, eggs, and chorizo with green chili and toast on the side. The serving sizes here are BIG this is your classic old school dinner kind of spot that doesn't over charge but delivers on flavor and cost vs size. If you can get past the initial discomfort of walking in the door and figuring out what the heck is going on, this is going to be a great meal!

Good food, great service, pleasant and clean. Pastries, pies and chicken fried steak are terrific.

Sadly this spot had lost its way. I've been a regular customer since I was a kid.. about 45 years. Today I had a server tell me I should sit in another section have to assume it was because I was wearing an American flag.. If you hire bad staff, you lose customers. That will be my last visit.
