Excellent local bar/restaurant spot. They have it all -- lunch, happy hour, live bands at night. The food is pretty dang good and bartenders/servers are always awesome, And for once they actually TELL customers about added gratuity! So many spots are so sneaky about it & try to capitalize on greed. Appaloosa does NOT! Good on you all! Their Caesar salad dressing g is excellent! Yes, it comes with a bit of anchovy and it's perfect. This dressing has anchovies as a main ingredient, it surprises me how many people aren't aware of that fact. Another fun fact - Caesar salad was not created where you might think. It was invented in Tijuana, Mexico. But, the chef was Italian so there ya go. They have a nice carpaccio dish too. Oh and a super yum Cooperstown Cabernet barrel finished Rye bourbon whiskey that is to die for. Recommend allll the way!

I was genuinely so impressed by this place! We stopped in kind of on a desperate whim if I'm being completely honest and I'm so glad we did. We got in to Denver late at night and needed a late night bite to eat. My partner showed me pictures of the restaurant and for some reason I didn't love the look of it, so I was iffy, but we decided to stop in anyways. No reservation, nothing. When we walked in I was immediately happy we followed our guts(literally). The restaurant is dark and moody, a nice spot for a date or cool night out with friends. There was an AMAZING jazz band playing, setting the mood for an incredible meal. We ordered the buffalo wings(hard to mess up), beef carpaccio, Denver dip (French dip), Mac and cheese and Caesar salad. No complaints. The portions were portioning!! lol no skimpy plates at this place. The kitchen serves until 12:30 EVERY NIGHT! I was so surprised by the quality of the food because I tend to find that the later a kitchen stays open the quality of the food tends to go down, but this was not one of those places. Honorable mention for our server Mike. He was awesome and attentive, thank you Mike. We'll be back next time we're in Denver.

I was so excited to try this place. It was so close to being great. Last time I was in Denver I was pregnant, so I was really looking forward to their cocktails. We spent something like $100 on Ubers so we could drink and not worry about driving on our one special night out.Imagine how disappointing it was to arrive and find out they didn't have a cocktail menu. Only a QR code. I refuse to pour over a complicated menu on a tiny digital device. That is not a relaxing good time. And I refuse to be the kind of asshole who brings out a smartphone at a restaurant. So they lost what was going to be a lot of our business.The food was great. I'm sure the cocktails would have been too. But next time I'm in Denver I will call ahead to make sure the place I'm looking to go will actually give me a menu.

We ate here last weekend and thought the food was really great. It was crowded but we were seated immediately and our food came out quickly. The service just could have been a little friendlier. They weren't rude by any means, just seemed maybe overwhelmed. We started with the fried avocados and they were fantastic. Then I had the lobster roll. It was good, but I've definitely had better. It was a ton of lobster though! My boyfriend had the bison chili and really liked it. Will definitely give this place another shot when we are back in town.

I went there after arriving in Denver late at night around 11:30 pm. Uber driver recommended it. The security guard (aka ID Checker) was vey nice and checked on me while I was inside and gave me a rundown of the bands that perform this week. My server was nice and the food came out relatively in about 10 mins which was ideal bc I was tired. I ordered the Bison burger which the server said is their staple. It was juicy and flavorful. I wanted it medium and it came out slightly over cooked but it was midnight and it was still good. They had a live band which I didn't watch but sounded good. The Nuggets had just beat the Lakers and this place was busy for a Monday night. Good vibe I would come back.

Loved the Borracho Avocado! Lots of Vegetarian, Gluten Free and Vegan options!Large selection of beer including many local ones. Nice Happy Hour choices/prices. Friendly service at the bar with nice suggestions and the ability to make whatever you desire. Neighborhood bar feel.

Great service here! I was a little concerned by the menu, pricey, hipster gourmet burgers are a quick path to a bad review from me. Much to my surprise and delight, the burgers were outstanding (though I asked for medium rare and got a very well done burger, as did my girlfriend)... but a bit greasy. They toasted the buns and threw in butter to boot. Bleh! But my green chile bison burger was delightfully spicy without being a case of heartburn, the four cheese macaroni was pretty decent (was nice to taste the smoked cheese in there), and the bison chili Colorado was a winner. Total bill was extremely reasonable even after my girlfriend had a couple of drinks AND them adding a 20% service charge (essentially a mandatory tip). Nice to be surprised like this. Appaloosa can get the fifth star by toning the grease levels on the burger down a bit, and making sure that if a customer asks for medium rare they actually get medium rare.J.Ja
