Ordered from Ama'Gees food truck during the Two Durham Beer Festival. The food was delicious! The staff was friendly and the food was ready quickly. We had curry goat, jerk chicken and calaloo meals. Each meal included all sides- plantains, rice and peas, stir fry cabbage. Will definitely return next time we are in Durham!

We came across this truck, with a very long line, at a First Fridays event in Durham. The line moved slowwwwly - I think it was almost an hour between joining the line and getting the food.Unfortunately, though they hadn't crossed anything out on their menu (PLEASE cross out menu items if you're out of them, food trucks - no one wants to wait in line for 30 minutes only to discover you don't actually have what you say you have), literally TWO things were left for us to choose from by the time we got to the window, neither of which were our original choices. I was looking forward to the saltfish and ackee, something I haven't found since I left Los Angeles. Too bad! Jerk chicken or brown sauce chicken only.Left no choice, we got one of each. The jerk chicken was unfortunately very dry, but the flavor was great, a blend of spices that all hit right in the back of the throat. The brown sauce chicken was a little more tender, and, I thought, even more nuanced in its spice blend. Their cabbage salad was coconutty and full of little surprise gems like sweet potatoes and carrots.I'd try it again if the line were shorter and they actually had most of the things on their menu available to sell.

I have been IG stalking this food truck for awhile. What a find! Omgoodness! Amazing small business owners! From the welcoming, the ordering, the food, I am not sure where to sing praise first! The welcoming: as we approached the food truck, staff was available and talking to us as if we were old friends. Laughter and good energy all over. The ordering: simple, the pricing is posted with all the meals. If they have special, it's posted clearly as well. Today, in honor of their 6 year anniversary - all plates were $10. Pro Tip: get there early! They sale out fast on many of their popular items - today they had already sold out on their caoco bread and red snapper. The food: we ordered: Oxtail Plate Jerk Chicken PlateChicken PattyHummingbird Bird Cake by Tony's Cake HouseAll plates come with peas and rice, veggies, and plantains. Total: ~$34The oxtails - tender, flavorful, simplicity at its best. The Jerk Chicken - tender and great spice profile. The Chicken Patty - Trust me - just get two! Why did it take me so long to find them and try the food? I don't know - but don't be like me! Try them NOW!

Tasty jerk chicken and plantains! Fast service, good portions. They also offer kale and cabbage salad, pastries stuffed with various meats, and other Jamaican specialties. The plantains were so hot that we had to wait for them to cool, but wow!, was it worth the wait.

Okay first off I want to start of by saying they got it! They can cook finger licking good. They really put there elbow in there food. So I can the jerk chicken and the oxtail with the plantains. I highly recommend. The service was fast. I love how they stay open pretty late.

Excellent food! We had the jerk chicken with cabbage and rice with pea's. Very nice people that run the food truck following COVID precautions. The last time we had food this good was in St Lucia, everything was amazing!

Probably the best food truck ever, but definitely the best food in Durham right now, period. Their whole fish is incredible and not to be missed, as is their jerk chicken. I haven't tried their ox tails but those are next on my list. The sides are also perfection: fried cabbage, mashed fried plantains, rice, and callaloo. You can't go wrong at Amagee's.

I visited their food truck during the Black August in the Park event a couple of weekends ago. After patiently standing line in the 45 minutes to 1 hour to order (lines were everywhere), I was able to finally place my order. I was prepared to wait another 15 to 20 mins to get my food but not another whole hour and 15 minutes. When I questioned about my food order (after 25 mins), the young girl went to the side of the food truck door and asked the gentleman who was putting orders together what was happening (After the person who had ordered before me, had received her order and then nothing). He came out and explained that they had run out of rice and had to send someone back to the restaurant to pick it up. It would be another 15 minutes before he could start pushing out orders. He actively engaged me in conversation ( where I shared that my order should be next and pointed out the person who would be receiving their order after me). He asked me my name again at first, saying he didn't have my ticket... I restated my name, and he said I was good he had it... no issues arose. When the rice arrived, he began to get to work on what I thought would be order. However, it was someone's else's order. When I questioned what was happening, he became disgruntled and claimed that my ticket was never next. I again went through the order in which everyone's order should have been processed. He told me to get away from the door and proceeded to shut it in my face, pushing his colleague who was attempting to tell him he was confused. When I and others asked for refunds, they would not issue them. There is a lot more that I could add, but for the sake of time, I will not. I will just say this. I have ordered from this location on Door Dash previously but will never patronize them again based on this experience.

You have GOT to try this!I have been searching the triangle for some good Jamaican food...and this is the best I have ever tasted! Their jerk chicken is sooo good, I cant stop eating it! They have mild and spicy jerk, and If you like some extra spice, you should try their oooweee sauce. Im warning you, that stuff is both spicy and addictive. Oh, and dont forget their oxtails. It is really juicy and flavorful, I fell in love with one taste. I cant stress it enough, you have just gotta try it yourself!
