Pros: My family loves this place. They have been eating here pretty regularly in the paste few months. They've been telling me about it since July. I finally go the chance to eat here during a recent visit. My sister and her kids like the popcorn shrimp and fries. My other sister lives the fried catfish. My husband and I shared the catfish a la Abe (blackened catfish with crawfish etoufee over the top). Cons: very heavy and filling meal.

The food was Bland and lacking overall taste which was unfortunate because the service is always stellar.

I love this place! The people who work there are awesome. You walk up to the counter to order, sit, and they bring out your meal. I ordered the crawfish étouffée, collard greens, cornbread, and coconut pie. The crawfish étouffée had a lot of nice sized crawfish tails. Just super delicious. The greens were superb filled with flavor and bacon. The cornbread was a big ole hunk, slightly sweet, super moist. The coconut cream pie was just okay. Of course, to be fair, I make fantastic coconut cream pie and I like mine best. The other desserts in the cooler looked fantastic though so might try one of them. Place is cute inside. If you haven't been there, why not?

Our family loves Abe's. Food is always great. Portions are generous even on kids menu. Menu is extensive and everything has been good. Kids eat free on Mondays. Service is quick and friendly.

We were out and decided to stop in for a bite. It was a hot day so inside was nice and cool. The staff is always helpful and friendly. You order at the counter and then you find a table and they bring it to you.Their sweet tea hit the spot . I ordered the seafood gumbo and my husband ordered the fried shrimp platter with fries and coleslaw. Each entree also come with cornbread which I love.We also order fried okra , boudain balls, and fried pickles. My husband said the fried shrimp was a good value cause the shrimp are huge, the coleslaw tangy and crunchy. My seafood gumbo was ok. I like my gumbo spicy and with okra. It's just a preference for me. But the shrimp in it were so tiny. The appetizers were good, hit the spot. They have such an expansive menu so next time I'm going to try one of their sandwiches.

Fried mushrooms (sliced; hand-battered) were amazing. Would definitely get these again!!!Dining partner loved the fried okra. Both types of gumbo were delicious. Would definitely order again. Red beans were delicious. Would definitely order again. Enjoyed the oyster po-boy. Not real French bread, though, and too much bread ratio-wise. Enjoyed the popcorn shrimp po-boy. Ordered the tomato & cucumber salad but was too full to try it. Same with the cornbread. Self-serve fountain drinks with tea and Pepsi products. Service was great!

Laissez le bon temps rouler! Another great recommendation from the cool cats at Bay Area Houston Food Lovers. To think I almost had dinner at BB's Tex-Orleans if I didn't log onto Facebook. The eatery is as Louisiana as it gets. For one, when you enter, a glance to the left and you'll see a freezer with Cajun items you can take home and cook. Also, the order counter looks like those you see in mom and pop groceries and gas stations in the state to the right of Texas. And there's zydeco coming from the speakers.Grub wise, I went with the smothered pork chop platter. The first slice of the meat was bit salty, but as I dug in further, it tasted really homey. I loved how the gravy meshed with the rice. The dinner was complemented by ample bowls featuring broccoli and cheese and red beans and rice. Simply put, I unwittingly treated myself to a Southern feast.
